Jeff Conaway's Death Ruled Accidental

by Catherine Lawson, posted Oct 3rd 2011 5:35AM
Jeff ConawayIt's been reported that the Los Angeles County coroner has ruled Jeff Conway's death accidental and caused by major internal infection.

The 60-year old star of TV series 'Taxi' and 'Babylon 5' and the movie 'Grease,' died back in May after he was hospitalized with pneumonia and sepsis.

Although Conaway had struggled with chronic substance abuse for years, Los Angeles County coroner Craig Harvey told the AP that coroners did not conduct a toxicology test -- Conaway had been hospitalized for weeks prior to his death, so his blood would have come back clean.

'Celebrity Rehab': Bob Discovers Steven Adler Lied About His Sobriety (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 12th 2011 3:42AM
Steven Adler, 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew'Sex, drugs and rock and roll is an expression almost as old as rock music. For Steven Adler these things may be too interconnected for him to successfully tour with his band and find sobriety, as we saw on 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew' (Sun., 9PM ET on VH1).

When Dr. Drew's Head Counselor, Bob Forrest, stopped in to check on Adler, he was disappointed to find the former Guns N' Roses drummer was still smoking marijuana, and apparently on a daily basis.

To emphasis the severity of Adler's addiction, Forrest asked, "Why couldn't you just not smoke pot for a day? That's what I want to point out to you. You knew I was coming here."

Michael Lohan, 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew'It was time to be discharged back into the regular world on 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew' (Sun., 9PM ET On VH1). It's a bittersweet day for the patients as they get the excitement of being able to take back the reigns of their lives coupled with the terror of having to take back the reigns of their lives.

It was when they were in charge of themselves that they got into the trouble that led them to Dr. Drew and his team in the first place. So as an exercise, they talked to the person they were before entering rehab, hopefully saying goodbye to him or her forever.

'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew'Steven Adler and the other patients on 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew' (Sun., 9PM ET on VH1) got a sobering reminder about how dangerous addiction can be. It was an especially difficult moment for Adler, though, because of the close personal relationship he had with former 'Celebrity Rehab' patient Mike Starr.

Dr. Drew and the staff learned that Starr had died of a drug overdose shortly after getting prescription pain medication. Shelly Sprague broke the news to Adler, who immediately knew what had taken his friend's life.

Amy Fisher's Husband Threatens Jeremy Jackson After a Bad Joke About Her Past on 'Celebrity Rehab' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 1st 2011 4:23AM
'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew'"Family Day" is supposed to be a day of happiness, support and celebration of progress in sobriety on 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew' (Sun., 9PM ET on VH1). But things quickly spiraled out of control when Jeremy Jackson's sister made a joke in very poor taste.

Jackson has become good friends with Amy Fisher in rehab, but his sister didn't make the connection when she first met Fisher, "because you didn't introduce yourself as 'Buttafuoco face shooter."

Now, that's a very harsh thing to say to someone. She has no way of knowing how Fisher is tortured emotionally about what she did, though the fact that she's in rehab says quite a lot about how she's coping with something.

Michael Lohan Threatens to Leave 'Celebrity Rehab' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 25th 2011 9:50AM
Michael Lohan, 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew'Michael Lohan's days on 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew' (Sun., 9PM ET on VH1) may be numbered. Of course, we'll have to wait until next week to find out if he truly walks off the show, and out of rehab, but how did it get to this?

Lohan was looking forward to seeing his ex-fiancée when family came to visit, but the staff members at the facility were concerned because they're pretty certain that she's an addict right now. Thus, seeing Lohan could set his own recovery back.

As such, they said that if she came she would also have to sign up for treatment. When Lohan found out about this, he didn't take it well at all. He stormed around, ranting and raving to everyone about the rules and who has to follow them.

Steven Adler Yells at Amy Fisher in Group Therapy on 'Celebrity Rehab' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 11th 2011 2:37AM
Steven Adler, 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew'Amy Fisher is very withdrawn so far on 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew' (Sun., 9PM ET on VH1) and it's not sitting well with former Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler. Both are patients, but Adler took serious issue with Fisher in two consecutive therapy sessions.

First, he yelled at her when she compared the rehab facilities to prison, defending their current accommodation as far better. Then, in a later group session, Fisher declined to identify herself as an addict or an alcoholic. Instead she said she was just listening right now and had nothing to contribute.

"Might as well identify yourself as what you are," Adler told her. "Because you wouldn't be here if there was nothing."

Jennifer Gimenez Panics Over Return of Abusive Steven Adler to 'Celebrity Rehab' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 27th 2011 7:30AM
Jennifer Gimenez, 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew'Steven Adler's relapse back into drugs was cause for real alarm on the fifth season premiere of 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew' (Sun., 9PM ET on VH1). When he was a part of the show in 2008, he physically and verbally assaulted rehab technician and former addict Jennifer Gimenez.

When she heard he was coming back into the facility, she had a full-blown panic attack. "Not only did he physically abuse me," she said. "He emotionally and verbally abused me. So all those fears came back."

She was able to talk it out and calm down, realizing that Adler on drugs us not the man himself. "I think Steven Adler when he's on drugs is a monster," she said. But the idea is to get Steven Adler off of the drugs and have him be the man he should be.

We Asked a Shrink If 'Celebrity Rehab' Can Work & Why It's So Addictive to Watch

by Alex Moaba, posted Jun 24th 2011 3:20PM
It was a sad off-season for 'Celebrity Rehab,' which saw two former patients, Mike Starr and Jeff Conaway, die of drug overdoses. With the show returning for its fifth season Sunday night, June 26, on VH1, we're starting to feel more and more conflicted about tuning in. Rumors that Michael Lohan was paid $180K to go on the show this season and that Rachel Uchitel was paid $500K last season add to a cloud of ethical issues swirling around the show.

We had questions: Are we watching glorified train-wreck TV, or real rehab where good work can be done? And why is the show so, dare we say, addictive to watch? We had to talk to a shrink to sort it all out.

"I feel that 'Celebrity Rehab' does for rehab and substance abuse what the 'Jersey Shore' does for New Jersey," says Eric Sherman, LCSW, a psychotherapist who's treated patients with substance abuse problems in Montclair, N.J., and New York City. "It gets publicity out there, but is that really the most helpful thing for people to be seeing?"

"What Dr. Drew is doing is in essence paying people money to come on the show," he continued. "It's encouraging bad behavior -- the more they act out, the more screen time they get. And by very the nature of television, things get boiled down to highlight the most dysfunctional and the most emotional. It gives a somewhat false impression of what one might actually encounter in substance abuse treatment."

Michael Lohan Says His Relationship With Lindsay Is Improving on 'The View' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 22nd 2011 1:55PM
Michael Lohan talks about Lindsay and 'Celebrity Rehab' on 'The View'On the upcoming season of 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew,' Michael Lohan apologized to his daughter, Lindsay Lohan, for passing down genes that contribute to an addictive personality. Wednesday on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), Lohan said his often tumultuous relationship with his daughter is getting better, and that they were recently together for Father's Day.

"It's a hell of a lot better than it was," he said of his relationship with Lindsay. "It's a lot better. There's still some ... It's not Lindsay anymore. It's the damage that was done as a result of my divorce with Dina."

Lohan also denied that Lindsay was considering dropping the last name Lohan, and said he stands by his daughter as she is under house arrest for allegedly stealing a necklace from a jewelery store. "I believe what my daughter tells me," he said. "When she's wrong, I'll tell her she's wrong."

Heidi Fleiss Calls Tom Sizemore a 'Loser' on 'Celeb Rehab' (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 5th 2010 3:20AM
Celebrity Rehab, Heidi Fleiss, Tom SizemoreIt's heartening to see Mackenzie Phillips – or Mac Attack, as Dennis Rodman calls her – doing really well. "It is amazing that you are standing here today, doing 20 years of these hard, hard drugs," said Rodman, "but you keepin' it together, man."

But not all of the feedback was positive as the celebs came to the end of their stint on 'Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew' (Thu., 10PM ET on VH1). Heidi Fleiss looked at Tom Sizemore and said, "Tom, I'm gonna go very easy on you. I look at you, and I feel so good, because you're such a loser. And the thought of bein' with you would turn a woman gay."

Harsh, Heidi. You'd better watch your back, girl. And maybe take a look in the mirror.

Watch the video after the jump.
