Chaz Bono's Fiancee Horrified at Death Threats He's Received (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 28th 2011 4:30AM
'Being Chaz'This week's installment of 'Being Chaz' (Sun., 8PM ET on OWN) took us back to the fallout from the announcement that Chaz Bono would be joining this latest season of 'Dancing With the Stars.' His fiancée Jennifer Elia was shocked and horrified at some of the comments that came through Twitter.

It is amazing how much hatred some people can have in their hearts. Certainly, the Internet has made it easier for these people to spew some of the most horrific and terrifying bile toward others, and Bono received plenty, including threats of physical violence and death.

"I don't think its worth it to do this show if he's gonna get shot," Elia said. "I don't want him to die for a cause."

Chaz Bono dropped by 'The Wendy Williams Show' (weekdays, syndicated on Fox) to talk to his fellow 'Dancing With The Stars' alum about his upcoming OWN special, 'Being Chaz,' a follow-up to OWN's Emmy nominated special 'Becoming Chaz.' Bono said they "started shooting it a few weeks before 'Dancing With The Stars' and filmed it the whole way through ... It's got a lot of drama and a lot of behind-the- scenes of 'Dancing With The Stars.'"

When Chaz came on in May to talk about 'Becoming Chaz,' he mentioned that he wasn't comfortable with the procedures available for transgender female-to-male genital reassignment surgery, but told Wendy today that, "There's a procedure that I'll probably do ... when I get some time off."

Chaz Bono and Lacey Schwimmer Blast Bruno Tonioli for Rude Remarks

by Catherine Lawson, posted Oct 26th 2011 7:15AM
Chaz Bono and Lacey SchwimmerHas Maksim Chmerkovskiy talking back to Len Goodman opened up the floodgates for more dancer vs. judge spats? After the furor surrounding the Maks vs. Len bust-up on 'Dancing With the Stars' Monday, emotions were running high on last night's results show, and the spotlight moved to judge Bruno Tonioli vs. Chaz Bono.

After the show, the newly eliminated Bono and pro dance partner Lacey Schwimmer were gracious in defeat, but had harsh words for Tonioli backstage. And Bono's fiercely protective mother Cher came out swinging on Twitter to lambast the Italian judge.

The reason for all the anger? On Monday Tonioli decribed Bono's 'Phantom of the Opera'-inspired performance as "a cute little penguin trying to be a big menacing bird of prey." Coming after a previous critique when he said watching the pair "was like watching a little Ewok dance with Princess Leia," Schwimmer decided she'd had enough. "He got under scored again," she Tweeted, "and tonights comments were the cherry on top. Having a judge refer to him as an animal every Week is so rude and unnecessary."

'Dancing With the Stars' Week Six Elimination (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 25th 2011 10:45PM
'Dancing With the Stars'After an emotional performance show, in which Maks lost his cool with Len, it was bound to be a tense elimination on 'Dancing With the Stars' (Tue., 8PM ET on ABC). Maksim Chmerkovskiy and his partner, Hope Solo, scored a 20 from the judges, which was better than only one other couple, Chaz Bono and Lacey Schwimmer, who got 19.

Audience votes make up the difference of the vote, obviously, which had to leave Maks and Hope sweating waiting for the final word. We've seen how their fellow contestants felt, many of whom felt he may have crossed the line. Would America agree?

'Dancing With the Stars' Week Five Elimination (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 19th 2011 12:00AM
'Dancing With the Stars' Week 5 EliminationIt was a great night of entertainment this week on the elimination installment of 'Dancing With the Stars' (Tue., 8PM ET on ABC). With both Kelly Clarkson and The Band Perry on hand to provide the musical interludes, it was easy to forget that we were going to have to lose someone this week.

Carson Kressley had the lowest scores from the judges, but the person with the lowest scores hasn't gone him since Week One. Chaz Bono was two points above him at 21, but again fan support has kept both men in longer than their talent would have alone. Would it continue?

Richard Simmons, Chaz Bono, Lacey SchwimmerMonday night saw a surprise cameo from 'Sweatin' to the Oldies' star Richard Simmons on 'Dancing With the Stars' as he put contestant Chaz Bono through his paces for his 'Rocky'-inspired routine.

However, Simmons' noticeably slimmed-down frame, amply showcased by his gold mesh tank top and tiny shorts, sparked fears among many viewers that he may be unwell.

A rep for the fitness guru denied that he's got any health problems. Tom Estey told 'People' that Simmons is "the healthiest he's ever been."

Did Cher Fans Save Chaz Bono from Elimination on 'DWTS'?

by Catherine Lawson, posted Oct 5th 2011 8:30AM
Lacey Schwimmer and Chaz BonoIt's been a grueling few weeks for 'Dancing With the Stars' contestants and the punishing training schedule has taken its toll on Chaz Bono.

Although he's lost weight and gained confidence on the dance floor, Bono's been suffering from swollen painful ankles, which may go some way to explain why he and Lacey Schwimmer were in last place after their rumba Monday night.

After that performance fans could have expected to see Bono facing elimination last night, but he wasn't. Has he benefited from tactical voting by Cher fans?

!!!SPOILER ALERT!!! If you don't want to know who was eliminated last night, stop reading now.

Wendy Williams Analyzes 'DWTS' and Cher's Tweets About the Kardashians (VIDEO)

by Stephanie Opella, posted Oct 4th 2011 6:45PM
As 'Wendy Williams' (weekdays, syndicated on Fox) went over Chaz Bono's performance on last night's 'DWTS,' she couldn't help but draw an obvious, but nonetheless hilarious comparison. "Governor Christie! I didn't know you danced!" she joked.

But what was more interesting than Chaz's resemblance to the man who will remain Governor of New Jersey were the tweets from Chaz's mother, Cher. Immediately after Chaz's performance, Cher tweeted "God hope Chaz hangs on till next week so I can come sit in the Audience & Watch."

Lewis Black Can't Understand Outrage Over Chaz Bono on 'DWTS' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 23rd 2011 4:30AM
Lewis Black, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Lewis Black is just trying to make sense of the world with his 'Back in Black' segments on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central).

This time around it was Dr. Oz' misguided warnings about arsenic in apple juice, and the American Family Association's outrage over Chaz Bono participating on 'Dancing With the Stars.'

For the latter, Black was confused by why Bono is the target of so much anger. He showed clips of people claiming that watching Bono on the show might convince young impressionable viewers to consider changing their own gender, which does seem unlikely.

But more specifically, he wondered where this outcry has been for some of their past contestants. He cited David Hasselhoff (alcoholic), Holly Madison (pornographer's concubine), The Situation and Kim Kardashian.

'DWTS' Backstage Report: Ron Artest Talks About Exiting, Will Chaz and Lacey Dance to a Cher Song?

by Michael Maloney, posted Sep 21st 2011 7:00AM
Tom Bergeron, Brooke Burke Charvet, Peta Murgatroyd, Ron ArtestIt bites having to leave 'Dancing With the Stars,' especially when you enjoy being there as much as Ron Artest did.

But the pro basketball player focused on the positive after host Tom Bergeron announced on last night's results show that Artest and pro partner Peta Murgatroyd would be the first couple to leave Season 13.

Artest is a lesson to us all in having to embrace a change that we might not be so thrilled about having to make.

The couple earned the lowest score on Monday's show and this was Murgatroyd's first year as a pro dancer so she's yet to build a fan base like veterans Derek Hough, Cheryl Burke and Mark Ballas have. That combination apparently proved to be the duo's undoing.

AOL TV was on the post-show press line to talk to Artest and Murgatroyd about their exit and to some of the remaining participants to get their thoughts on what they need to do to stay in the game.

'Chelsea' Round Table on Kardashian Support for Rob on 'DWTS' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 21st 2011 5:00AM
'Chelsea Lately'When Chelsea Handler started talking about the 'Dancing with the Stars' premiere with her round table on 'Chelsea Lately' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on E!), the conversation inevitably drifted toward the Kardashian clan.

With brother Rob participating in this season, Moshe Kasher mentioned that the family had arrived at the taping in support of their own. "Except for Khloe, who was there to support Chaz as a fellow big man," he quipped.

When Sarah Colonna noted that Kim Kardashian's new husband Kris Humphries did not appear to be in attendance, she further extrapolated that she didn't believe they've spent time together since their honeymoon. According to Handler, this is quite simply because Humphries is still sore.

'DWTS' Backstage Report: Who's Going Home First? Also, Julianne Hough is Returning!

by Michael Maloney, posted Sep 20th 2011 7:00AM
'DWTS' 13 CastIt's difficult to predict just who's going to be eliminated on tonight's results show of 'Dancing With the Stars.'

The scores ranged from 14 for pro basketball player Ron Artest (a.k.a. Metta World Peace) to 22 each for singer Chynna Phillips and 'All My Children' actor J.R. Martinez.

Since Artest's pro partner, Peta Murgatroyd, is also new to the show it's not like she's bringing in a lot of votes. Still, pro athletes have always done well on 'DWTS.'

How did the stars and pro dancers think they did? AOL TV was on the post-show press line to get reactions.

Chaz Bono Surprises and Impresses Judges on the 'DWTS' Premiere (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 20th 2011 12:08AM
Lacey Schwimmer & Chaz Bono, 'Dancing With the Stars''Dancing With the Stars' (Mon., 8PM ET on ABC) producers knew that a lot of people were going to be curious to see how their first transgender contestant fared on the season premiere, so they cleverly saved Chaz Bono and professional partner Lacey Schwimmer for last.

When they finally came out, Bono proved he was a competitor with sheer likability and a spark of potential. While he's nowhere near the best dancer out there, he was graceful on his feet, he was there for his partner, and he showed that he has the drive and passion to improve.

People love to root for someone who shows growth throughout the season, and Bono definitely has room for that. According to Carrie Ann Inaba, though, one area Bono already impressed in was footwork. "It was sharp. It was precise," she said. "You've got so much joy. You light up this room!"
