Chef Aaron Sanchez Talks 'Chopped' and Super Bowl Party Tips

by Kelly Woo, posted Feb 4th 2011 9:00AM
Aaron SanchezChef Aaron Sanchez loves Super Bowl season.

"It's one of the few times that it's quiet at the restaurants," the 'Chopped' judge confessed to me in a phone interview. "This is an opportunity for me to get together with my parents, family and people that I love that I don't get to see very often because of my work schedule."

When Sanchez isn't at one of his restaurants in New York City, Centrico and Paladar, he's judging 'Chopped' or filming something else for the Food Network. While 'Chefs vs. City' has come to an end, he teased he's working on some new show concepts.

Read what he had to say about 'Chopped,' his upcoming Food Network projects and that infamous battle with Masaharu Morimo on 'Iron Chef America.' Plus, Chef Sanchez gives us three Super Bowl recipes.

The 10 Best Food Network Shows

by Allison Waldman, posted Nov 13th 2010 10:00AM
food_network_logoFor a network that began just 17 years ago, the Food Network has become a cable television fixture and a pop culture sensation. Its cooks and chefs and foodies of Food Network have become celebrities.

Since its debut on Nov. 23, 1993, Food Network has expanded like mad. It launched food products that fill our supermarket shelves. There's media exposure via a website and monthly magazine ... and that doesn't include Rachael Ray's talk show and Guy Fieri's game show and Alton Brown's grape juice commercials. And it launched a secondary outlet in The Cooking Channel.

But the key to all the success is the Food Network itself.

Ted Allen Talks 'Chopped Champions,' Celebrity Chefs & More

by Maggie Furlong, posted Sep 28th 2010 5:15PM
In case you've missed it, Food Network's fact-paced cooking competition series 'Chopped' has been having the competition to end all competitions this month -- a battle of 16 previous winners.

In tonight's grand finale (Tues., Sept. 28, 10PM ET), we'll finally learn who's the winner of 'Chopped Champions' and the big $50,000 prize. And before you say anything about $50,000 not being that great of a prize, just think about it -- it's $50,000! Recession or not, that's a pretty paycheck for a few days of work.

I caught up with host Ted Allen to hear all about why he thinks the 'Champions' series has been so fun and to find out what other fun twists are coming next. 'Chopped: Celebrity Chef Edition' anyone? It may not be that far off ...

Seven Reality Shows That Could Use a Judging Panel Shake-up

by Chris Harnick, posted Aug 12th 2010 1:40PM
Project Runway
'Project Runway' needs a little something to "make it work" again, and the fashion competition would benefit from taking a page from the 'American Idol' book by shaking up its judges panel. (Sorry, Nina Garcia and Michael Kors, but where are the fireworks?)

All the 'American Idol' speculation has created even more buzz around the show. That's one benefit, but hopefully new judges will also take the show to a whole new entertainment level.

And 'Idol' is not alone when it comes to reality shows that have gotten stale. Far from it, actually. From 'Project Runway' to various dance competitions, here are six shows that could use some new blood.
