Krista, 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition' season finaleChris Powell didn't pull any punches with Krista, his candidate for total body transformation on the season finale of 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition' (Mon., 10PM ET on ABC). Normally, he waits until Phase II or III for extreme physical challenges, but he set Krista up with one during the first three months.

Starting at 445 lbs, he set her the task of pushing him in a car around the 1.5-mile track at the Texas Motor Speedway. All of this on the way to her Phase I goal of losing 100 lbs to earn a brand new car.

Krista powered through the challenge, through the 12 weeks and lost 105 lbs. As for the car she won? It's the same one she pushed at the Texas Motor Speedway, so she couldn't have been more excited.

Staci Amazes Chris Powell, Hits Her Goal on 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 19th 2011 1:03AM
'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition'After a disappointing result last week, when Chris Powell had to ultimately send Wally to a clinic for his food addiction after a year of losses and gains, he had more of a success to celebrate this week with Staci on 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition' (Mon., 10PM ET on ABC).

When he first met her she weighed 456 lbs and was a pile of misery and despair, having essentially given up any hope of ever being able to turn herself around from spiraling out of control. She never cared enough about herself to take care of herself.

But he also found in her someone with a drive and a need to do better. To be better, and she proved herself to him and, more importantly, to herself with a stunning transformation and a 201-lb weight loss.

Chris Powell Faces His Toughest 'Extreme Makeover' Challenge Ever in Wally (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 12th 2011 3:35AM
Wally, 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition'Chris Powell had his hands full with this week's lucky participant in 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition' (Mon., 10PM ET on ABC). More than anyone we've seen before, Wally is deep into an addiction to food, and it proved more than Powell could handle.

During the first three months, Wally was doing fine and even hit his three-month goal. But that's because Powell was living with him, motivating him to work out and, more importantly, keeping him out of those drive-thrus.

Wally's level of addiction to food is as bad as any drug addict or alcoholic. He lies to friends and loved ones, sneaks money to buy food and has even spiraled into despair. Powell tried to do what he could to help Wally find his inner drive and will to succeed and change, but it was just setback after setback.

Larhonda Darby, 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition'LaRhonda Darby was Chris Powell's latest challenge on 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition' (Mon., 10PM ET on ABC). She came to the show with a big personality and a big stomach she'd nicknamed 'Bertha.'

"Trying to get rid of her as soon as possible," Darby said of Bertha.

Despite some emotional struggles along the way, Darby impressively put in the work and became one of the few participants in the show to not falter in the second phase. In fact, she hit every goal Powell set for her on her way to a new and slimmer self.

James, 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition'The transformations reached epic proportions this week on 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition' (Mon., 10PM ET on ABC). James came onto the program at 651 lbs, but at one time he'd topped the scales north of 700 lbs.

With the help of trainer Chris Powell, he not only turned his life around, he set a record for transformations under Powell's tutelage when he dropped an astonishing 313 lbs in a single year.

"I'm glad I'm able to share this story with the world," he told the assembled crowd of his family, friends and supporters. "'Cause I remember how lost I felt when I was over 700 pounds. And just knowing that maybe somebody out there is going to have some form of inspiration from what I was able to accomplish."

Dana, 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition'Dana, last night's participant on 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition,' did more than drop a few hundred pounds over the course of the last year -- he also came out as a gay man.

In an dramatic showdown with host Chris Powell, Dana revealed that he'd been eating as an emotional escape in order to avoid dealing with societal rejection that gay people often face.

Before coming out on national television, Dana first had to come out to his family. He did that a few days ago, prior to last night's episode airing.

Here, he shares exclusively with AOL TV what his family's surprising reaction was, and what he plans to do next in order to help others.

Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss EditionTonight's episode of 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition' tells the story of Dana, a 45-year-old bachelor from Tennessee, who once tipped the scales at over 500 pounds.

His life changed forever after he was accepted as a contestant on the ABC reality series that tracked his weight-loss journey over the span of a year.

But Dana's tale (Mon., June 13, 10PM ET on ABC) involves more than shedding the pounds. As with many people, there's an emotional component to his eating. After Dana's story unfolds (but his weight-loss progress hits a plateau), he'll share an intense and emotional confrontation with host Chris Powell that will bring that issue out in the open.

AOL TV spoke exclusively to Dana about his journey and how the show drastically altered his lifestyle.

Alex Drops Almost Half His Mass on 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition' (VIDEO)

Alex, 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition'The second installment of 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition' (Mon., 10PM ET on ABC) got a little more invested in Alex's journey from a 459-lb 23-year old to a much slimmer and healthier self than we saw in last week's premiere.

We're not sure, though, why trainer Chris Powell let him flounder so much during his first three months of going it alone.

It seemed a vulnerable time for the trainer to check out completely for such a long span of time. If you've got someone who's life choices have led to this massive weight gain, how can they be left to their own devices after only three months?

Chris Powell Gets the Pounds Off on 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition'

by Michael Maloney, posted Jun 3rd 2011 10:00AM
Chris PowellObesity is on the rise, and ABC's doing something about it with its latest reality series 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition' (Mondays, 10PM ET).

The program is documenting the journeys of eight "super obese" people as they undergo a new fitness plan designed to both shed the pounds and educate about lifestyle choices. Trainer and transformation specialist Chris Powell guides the participants on their journey.

Each stand-alone episode of the series will document one person's transformation. Powell's no stranger to changes himself -- once the tiniest kid in his grade school class, he later transformed his own body by lifting weights.

AOL TV chatted with Powell to get his thoughts on how 'Weight Loss Edition' differs from similar programs, how he handles contestants becoming attached to him and what he thinks Kirstie Alley needs to do in order to keep the weight off that she lost on 'Dancing With the Stars.'

Rachel Prayed to Be Skinny on 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition' Premiere (VIDEO)

'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition'It's been a while, but the 'Extreme Makeover' franchise has a second spin-off. The first one, 'Home Edition' has obviously far surpassed its disastrous plastic surgery parent, and this latest iteration looks to inspire personal change through natural means rather than cosmetic.

'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition' (Mon., 10PM ET on ABC) premiered with the year-long story of one person struggling with weight, and will continue spotlighting a single person for each of its eight episodes.

Taking more from 'Heavy' than competition shows like 'The Biggest Loser,' the only prize on 'EM: WLE' is regaining a sense of self-worth and confidence, and possibly the chance to live a fuller, happier and longer life.
