EXCLUSIVE Season 5 Video Preview and Fond Thoughts about 'Chuck's' Final Run
by Maureen Ryan, posted Oct 27th 2011 9:30AM
The return of 'Chuck' (8PM Friday, NBC) is something to celebrate, but this fall's Nerd Herd party has a bittersweet quality, given that this is the last season of the show. When season 5 ends, we'll have to say goodbye to the Intersect, say sayonara to Jeffster and swear off John Casey's grunts forever. We'll get no more celebratory Comic-Con love-ins in which the cast and producers tease fans with intel on the next round of espionage antics. No more Castle, no more secret missions, no more touching nerd romances and bromances.
Wait, wait, don't leave! I didn't mean to bring you down. But facts must be faced. Now that we've done the hard part, let's get to the good stuff: In honor of 'Chuck's' Friday return, let's celebrate the things that are most enjoyable about the show's new season.
NBC Delays Premieres of 'Chuck' and 'Grimm'
by Catherine Lawson, posted Oct 3rd 2011 6:30AM
It's that time in the fledgling fall season when talk turns to which shows will be cancelled and which will survive. Network schedulers often have to tweak the lineup depending on how various shows are doing in the ratings.Which is why we're interested to hear that NBC -- home of struggling newbies 'The Playboy Club' and 'Free Agents' -- has decided to push back the premiere episodes of new drama 'Grimm' and old favorite 'Chuck.'
According to HitFix, both premieres will now air on October 28, one week later than originally planned, so that NBC can promote the debut of fairy tale-inspired 'Grimm' closer to Halloween.
EXCLUSIVE: 'Community' Star To Stop by 'Chuck'
by Maureen Ryan, posted Aug 30th 2011 9:45PM
'Community' plus 'Chuck'? Talk about a match made in TV heaven. We can exclusively reveal that Danny Pudi, 'Community's' Abed, will have a cameo role in the fifth episode of the upcoming season of 'Chuck.' The details of his role are still under wraps, but really, what more do you need to know? Pudi is a very funny man and 'Chuck' will no doubt pull out all the stops to make sure his time in the spy world will be, in a word, awesome.
Of course, Pudi fans will recall that he made an appearance on 'Cougar Town' last season after Abed talked about the ABC comedy on 'Community.'
'Chuck' doesn't return with its final season until Oct. 21, but so far it's sounding like it'll be worth the wait.
'Chuck' Check-In: A Jeffster Jailbreak? A Casey Romance? An 'Office' Temp Job?
by Maureen Ryan, posted Aug 2nd 2011 4:30PM
At an NBC party at TCA press tour on Monday, I ran into 'Chuck' executive producer Chris Fedak, who talked about a couple of big things that'll be happening in the NBC spy show's final season. There's the casting of 'Matrix' star Carrie-Anne Moss in a multi-episode arc as Gertrude Verbanski, the head of a private espionage agency that competes with Chuck's new firm. A woman as tough, competitive and weapons-obsessed as Gertrude naturally appeals to John Casey.
"What we wanted to do this season is really kind of open up [Casey] to a new romantic relationship, and we thought we needed someone as badass as him," Fedak said. "Carrie-Anne seemed like the perfect fit."
But during the final season, there trouble among the Buy More staff -- Jeff and Lester, otherwise known as the not-quite-legendary rock band Jeffster, hit a rough patch in their relationship, and I learned that one of them even goes to jail. But could an 'Office' gig be in Jeffster's future? It's a long shot, but if it happens, it could be one of the funnest crossovers of the season.
Craig Kilborn Joins Mark Hamill on the 'Chuck' Season 5 Premiere

As it gears up for its fifth and final season, spy caper 'Chuck' keeps adding to its impressive guest star roster.Hot on the heels of signing 'Star Wars' legend
According to TVLine, Kilborn will be feeling the force alongside Hamill in the Season 5 premiere.
He'll play Roger Bale, a charming yet conniving investor who's stolen money from some of the world's most dangerous people. Oh, and it turns out that Roger's rather dangerous himself.
