Dot-Marie Jones Will Roshambo for the Emmy (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 23rd 2011 4:30PM
Dot-Marie Jones on her 'Glee' Emmy nomination on 'Good Day LA'Dot-Marie Jones's Coach Beiste is perhaps the only person in the 'Glee' universe who could go toe-to-toe with Jane Lynch's Sue Sylvester. For that fortitude and charisma, she was rewarded with an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress.

Tuesday, 'Good Day LA' (weekdays, 9AM PT on FOX) anchor Tony McEwing got a glimpse of how intimidating Jones can be when he mispronounced her character's name (it's pronounced like "beast," but McEwing said "beasty").

McEwing immediately apologized, and asked her to be gentle. "I'm always gentle," she said, "for a minute." He also noticed she had a broken foot. "I broke a bone because somebody wasn't gentle, Tony," said Jones.

Martha Plimpton Details Cloris Leachman's 'Antics' on the 'Raising Hope' Set (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 19th 2011 2:40PM
Martha Plimpton of 'Raising Hope' on 'Access Hollywood Live'We learned a few things about Cloris Leachman from Martha Plimpton's appearance on 'Access Hollywood Live' (weekdays, syndicated on NBC) Friday. She likes the liquor. She may lick you. And if she doesn't like your hair, she's not afraid to tell you. And Kit Hoover loved every bit of that. "I want to hang with her," said Hoover. "I want to go out for cocktails with her."

Plimpton said cocktails would be a good idea -- Bloody Marys in the morning and something with vodka in it for later in the day. Hoover asked about Leachman's "antics" on the 'Raising Hope' set. "It's just never ending," said Plimpton. "She likes to lick people. She loves to lick our director's head."

Cloris Leachman Gets 'Raising Hope' Promotion

by Chris Harnick, posted Jun 1st 2011 11:30AM
Cloris LeachmanWhen 'Raising Hope' returns this fall, the show will have a brand new series regular: Cloris Leachman.

Yep, the veteran sitcom star has been upped from "special guest star" to series regular after a season.

When the show returns, look for them to have fun with Leachman in the title credits. Instead of a typical credit of "and Cloris Leachman," her credit will read "and introducing Cloris Leachman as Maw Maw."

"I thought it would be funny to make it 'introducing Cloris Leachman,' and she thought it was hilarious," series creator Greg Garcia told TV Guide.

Leachman's schedule kept her as a "special guest star" during the first season, but now everything has fallen into place for season 2.

Is 'Dancing With the Stars' Stacked Against Certain Celebs?

by Katy Kroll, posted Apr 25th 2011 12:00PM
All's fair in love, war and 'Dancing With the Stars.' Well, maybe not 'DWTS.'

Since it premiered in 2005, 'DWTS' has offered us a mélange of the rhythmically challenged and the naturally talented, pitting, for example, a clumsy John Ratzenberger against a nimble Apolo Ohno.

While a wide array of contestants with varying skills certainly makes for good TV, we're beginning to wonder whether some celebrities are getting a raw deal when the judges score everyone based on the same criteria. This season, for example, 60-year-old, overweight Kirstie Alley is directly competing and being scored against chiseled 21-year-old pop star and basketball player Romeo. Is that really fair?

To investigate this situation, we went to the only people who know what's really going on -- those directly involved with the show. We asked past 'DWTS' underdogs Cloris Leachman, Debi Mazar and Steve-O the burning question: Is the competition stacked against certain celebrities?

'Facts of Life' Cast Reunites on 'Good Morning America' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Apr 12th 2011 12:25PM
'Facts Of Life' cast reunion on 'Good Morning America'The Eastland School girls were back together with their housemother today on 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM on ABC) for a 'Facts Of Life' cast reunion. Lisa Whelchel (Blair), Kim Fields (Tootie), Mindy Cohn (Natalie), Nancy McKeon (Jo), Geri Jewell (Geri), Charlotte Rae (Mrs. Garrett), and Cloris Leachman (Mrs. Garrett's sister Beverly) joined Cynthia McFadden of 'GMA' for a conversation about the show.

The group was already together for the TV Land Awards Sunday night. Rae had expressed how proud she was that her former castmates had turned out so well, saying at the awards show Sunday they had all turned out "straight." McFadden cleared that up; some in the crowd had misunderstood Rae's intentions. "I was thinking of a tree that grows up straight to the sky," said Rae. "Why, what did you think?" Rae seemed genuinely embarrassed when it was put to her that some thought she meant straight vs. gay.

'Raising Hope': Maw Maw Bakes Some Special Christmas 'Cookies' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Dec 8th 2010 12:03AM
'Raising Hope': Maw Maw Bakes Some Special Christmas 'Cookies'It's Christmastime on 'Raising Hope.' And on the new episode (Tue., 9PM ET on Fox), Maw Maw (Cloris Leachman) tries her hand at spreading some holiday cheer, via baking a batch of her special Christmas cookies. Only problem: She didn't "bake" them and they're not "cookies," per se.

Jimmy (Lucas Neff) is the first to notice the problem. " ... Um," he says. "These aren't cookies -- they're dirt clods ... with little rocks in them." Meanwhile, her indulgent granddaughter Virginia (Martha Plimpton) tries to smooth things over, via the time-tested "it's Christmas; everyone try to get along" excuse.

As the family members gaze upon the dirt/rock "snickerdoodles" in horror, Virginia provides some not-so-subtle encouragement: "Oh, let her her have this; it's the holidays." True: it is the holidays. And hey -- things could be worse. After all, in the spirit of love and joy, Maw Maw did use little rocks, not big ones. So she's trying, at least ...

John Stamos Talks Friendship with Cloris Leachman (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Nov 30th 2010 7:15AM
John Stamos Talks Cloris Leachman on 'Chelsea Lately'Does John Stamos have an especially intimate relationship with Cloris Leachman? Maybe she'd like us to think so. Chelsea Handler has a picture of Leachman at the actor's birthday party. They're sitting side by side. He has his arm around her; she's flipping off the camera. What's the story?

Stamos had recently hosted a roast of comedian (and 'Full House' crony) Bob Saget, he explained on 'Chelsea Lately' (weeknights, 11PM ET on E!). "She came out and she said, 'I'm not here to roast Bob Saget. I'm here to f--- John Stamos.'"

He had a birthday party soon after, to which Leachman arrived very late. "She was great," Stamos said. "She sang to me ... She flipped off the camera, we had sex, and she went home," he deadpanned.

Cloris Leachman Says What's on Her Mind for 'The Wendy Williams Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 16th 2010 3:57PM
Cloris Leachman, 'The Wendy Williams Show'When Cloris Leachman appeared on 'The Wendy Williams Show' (Weekdays, Syndicated), the host thought it might be fun to play a little word association game with her. Williams would show a photograph and the Leachman would say the first thing that pops into her head.

Someone should have reminded Williams that senior citizens have a tendency to say quite directly what's on their minds. And Leachman had one thing very clearly on hers.

The first picture was of Sarah Palin, and Leachman's response would be the first in a series. She gave the same response to pictures of Bill Clinton, Snooki and even her dear friend Betty White. What single world could sum up all of these disparate people?

Cloris Leachman Licks Brian Kilmeade on 'Fox & Friends' (VIDEO)

by Jeremy Taylor, posted Nov 12th 2010 7:13PM
Appearing on 'Fox & Friends' (weekdays, 6 AM ET on Fox News) Cloris Leachman talked about her character on the sitcom 'Raising Hope,' who has a habit of licking things.

Apparently, as Leachman explained, the licking continues when the cameras stop rolling, and she enjoys licking the back of the neck of show's creator, Greg Garcia.

"Do you want to demonstrate on Brian?" Steve Doocy wondered, referring to his co-host Brian Kilmeade.

Leachman was more than happy to oblige, telling Kilmeade to lean forward before going to work on the back of his neck.

"It's been an hour since I've been licked," Kilmeade joked, after feeling the wet caress of octogenarian tongue.

Your move, Betty White.

'Raising Hope': A Family Picture Is Worth a Thousand Curse Words (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Oct 13th 2010 7:49AM
'Raising Hope': A Family Picture Is Worth a Thousand Curse WordsTaking a family photo is always kind of a drag. Little kids are running around and not paying attention to the photographer. Someone invariably blinks or looks away from the camera, right when the picture is shot. Plus, there's the stress of having all your relatives in one room at the same time.

And this is what happens if you have a normal family. But the pain is increased a thousandfold if you're part of a completely dysfunctional family ... like, say, the Chance clan on 'Raising Hope' (Tue., 9PM ET on Fox).

'Raising Hope' Explores a Twisted Version of Parenthood - TCA Report

by Laura Prudom, posted Aug 2nd 2010 9:25PM
Raising Hope'Raising Hope' is a dysfunctional family comedy in the vein of 'My Name Is Earl' (which is no coincidence, since the creative team is the same), but critics might be divided on just how funny it is, given that the initial theme of the show is watching a new father attempting not to kill his baby, after the child's mother has been put to death by electric chair -- cheerful, right?

While the concept might be in poor taste, the 'Raising Hope' panel at the TCA press tour itself was full of hilarious moments, mostly due to kooky Cloris Leachman and her on-stage antics, demanding that reporters stand while they asked their questions and switching chairs with Garret Dillahunt until creator Greg Garcia was making 'musical chairs' comparisons.

After a comparison to another iconic female, Betty White, Leachman dramatically declared, "I'm so sick of Betty White, I never liked her!" which was met with great appreciation from the humor-starved TCA audience.

More panel highlights after the jump.

Six Reality TV Stars Who've Gone the Distance

by Jane Boursaw, posted Apr 28th 2010 12:01AM
Cloris Leachman Think about reality TV, and what usually springs to mind is a bunch of youngsters living in homes together, performing on talent shows, or trying to get their careers rolling -- sometimes all at the same time.

But let's not forget the elder statespeople who already had a stunning career behind them, only to come back into the public eye by participating in a reality show. Perhaps these celebrity veterans helped to pave the way for 'Sunset Daze,' a new show premiering April 28 at 10PM ET on WE tv that follows a group of people at a retirement community in Arizona's Sun City.

Lest you think it's all pudding and painkillers, rest assured there will be sex! Guns! Skydiving! And motorcycles!
