Cloris Leachman Talks Emmys, 'Raising Hope' on 'The View' (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 22nd 2011 5:30PM
Cloris Leachman is the undisputed queen of the Emmys. She's already won eight prime time Emmys and one daytime Emmy, and her nomination in the "guest star" category for 'Raising Hope' brings the comedienne's career nomination total to 22. If she wins, ten Emmys would give her more than any other performer. The idea agrees with her, she said Friday on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC).How would winning a tenth Emmy make her feel? "Powerful, I like it," said Leachman, flexing her muscles for the camera. Sherri Shepherd introduced a 1973 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show' clip of Leachman playing landlord Phyllis Lindtrom that won her an Emmy in 1973.
In the clip, she detailed the mating habits of bees, where the female is the queen and the male is the slave who dies after mating. "All in all, not a bad system," she said. A little more coherent than Leachman's 'Raising Hope' character, but probably not too far off in philosophy.
