CBS Cancels 'Cold Case,' 'Ghost Whisperer' and More; 'Medium' Renewed

by Andrew Scott, posted May 18th 2010 12:28PM
Cold CaseCBS officially canceled seven series today, the Live Feed is reporting.

Among the shows axed is the Sunday-night procedural 'Cold Case,' which slipped in the ratings in recent seasons but still drew relatively decent numbers in its 10PM timeslot. 'Cold Case' ends after seven seasons on the network.

Meanwhile, in a somewhat surprising decision, CBS will bid farewell to its steady Friday-night drama 'Ghost Whisperer,' starring Jennifer Love Hewitt.

'The New Adventures of Old Christine' will also depart the network this season, though it's possible it may be saved by ABC. No official decision has been made.

Which Bubble Show Doesn't Deserve To Be Saved?

by Bob Sassone, posted May 11th 2010 2:06PM
Cold CaseAllison has given you a really in-depth look at all of the TV shows that are "on the bubble," the ones that haven't been renewed and might be canceled. A lot of TV Squad readers have given their opinions on what shows should be renewed for another year, but how about the shows that don't deserve to come back for the 2010-2011 season?

These shows pretty much fall into two categories: shows that have already been on a while and probably shouldn't see another season, and shows that haven't been around long but don't get the audience or darn it just aren't good enough to be renewed.

Lilly Gets a Surprise From Her Sister on 'Cold Case' (VIDEO)

by Chris Harnick, posted May 3rd 2010 9:55AM
Cold CaseTalk about intensity. On 'Cold Case' (Sun., 9PM ET on CBS), Lilly tracked down her battered sister, only to find she wasn't alone. Yep, Lilly (Kathryn Morris) found out she was an aunt.

However, it wasn't all hugs and puppies after Lilly found the baby. Cliff returned and pulled a gun on Scotty, but Lilly was right behind him, and she was angry.

Seven CBS Shows on the Bubble

by Allison Waldman, posted Apr 30th 2010 3:02PM
jenna_elfman_accidentally_on_purposeFor the most part, CBS has had a very good year. New series like 'Undercover Boss' and 'NCIS: LA' lived up to expectations and emerged as hits, and even though it's fallen off a bit lately, 'The Good Wife' is also a success.

But as the May upfront approaches, when the network has to make difficult decisions about what new shows to order and which programs to axe, it's a good time to assess what might happen. Here's our look at what's Tiffany network shows are on the brink ... and how it might play out.

A Serial Killer Case Gets Personal on 'Cold Case' (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 29th 2010 2:52AM
Cold Case, The Last Drive-InDang! Just when you think you're closing in on a serial killer, they toy with you even further. Such was the case on 'Cold Case' (Sun., 10PM ET on CBS).

And this one is personal for an FBI agent who's been tracking the killer for 30 years. Why? Because the case broke up her marriage years ago. Yeah, that could make a person more than a little motivated to bring the killer to justice. Tune in next week to see how this two-parter ends.

What Shows are On the Bubble?

by Allison Waldman, posted Feb 15th 2010 3:00PM
Fringe_fox_castIf you read Brad's take on The Hollywood Reporter list of endangered TV shows, you might be surprised that the 'experts' have some weak rated shows coming back for another season.

THR puts 'Community' in the safe category, giving it a 90% chance of renewal. It also put 'Chuck' in the 90% category.

Joe Adalian wrote about bubble shows on The Wrap, and he has 'Chuck' slam-dunking another renewal out of NBC. The surprises on his list was a death blow for 'Gary Unmarried' and 'Rules of Engagement.'

Really? That's not a certainty considering that 'Rules' hasn't even aired yet. It did well in the ratings last spring, enough to be a midseason renewal. And 'Gary' has performed on par with 'The New Adventures of Old Christine,' which has a good shot at being renewed.
