'Dexter' Promo Introduces the Fresh Blood of Season 6 (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Sep 9th 2011 1:00PM
Season 6 of 'Dexter' is dripping with fresh blood. And by that we mean there are a lot of new additions to the cast. Showtime released a promo that introduces us to all of the new characters.

Colin Hanks and Edward James Olmos join the cast as this season's villains. Olmos plays a twisted religion professor, Professor Gellar, and Hanks plays his student, Travis. Together, they conspire to carry out what they consider to be divinely-justified murders.

Rapper and actor Mos Def is also joining the cast, playing a character named Brother Sam. Dexter initially starts tracking him as a potential victim, but soon discovers he's rehabilitated himself with religion.

Check out more new character descriptions, and the 'Dexter' promo, after the jump.

Dexter Season 6: Religion Kills, Thanks to Edward James Olmos, Colin Hanks (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Aug 8th 2011 12:45PM
We've already seen the first trailer for Season 6 of Dexter, but now Showtime's released a behind-the-scenes video that gives us more insight into what's in store for the new season. The action will skip ahead a year, giving our fateful forensic expert/murderer/hero some time to heal from the losses of Rita and separation from Lumen.

The new season appears to be filled with religious overtones. Edward James Olmos plays a twisted religion professor who's recruited his student Colin Hanks to help him carry out divinely-justified murders. At the same time, Dexter is struggling with how to teach his son Harry about god, which as you might imagine, is a bit awkward for a sociopath who justifies killing with a code of his own.

"There are certain tenets and icons that we've set up throughout the series that were magical and that we never wanted to touch, but this year, we're going to poke them in the eye and do things that we've never done before," says Scott Buck, 'Dexter' writer/showrunner.

Check out the video after the jump.

'The Good Guys': "I'm Gonna Protect Your Socks Off" (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Oct 25th 2010 7:25AM
'The Good Guys': There are good cops, and then there are bad cops. And then there are cops who go too far, and get personally involved in a case. Passion is important, especially if you're a renegade policeman. But an excess of passion can get sort of ... weird. Which is the problem on 'The Good Guys' (Fri., 9PM ET on Fox).

[Warning: Spoiler alert.]

Detectives Jack and Dan (Colin Hanks and Bradley Whitford) must go undercover to stop a group of arsonists. But when Dan meets the innocent woman he'll be protecting, he's instantly smitten. Meredith (Dana Wheeler-Nicholson) is all alone, and could be attacked by the criminals at any second.

Dan decides to keep her company. But the detective wants to provide some very sexy company. "I will protect you personally," he says. "I'm gonna protect your socks off."

'The Good Guys' Face a Permanent Vacation -- Will the Show Survive? The cop buddy show 'The Good Guys' (Fri., 9PM ET on Fox) has been away on hiatus. The series debuted this summer -- receiving critical praise, but also some fairly lousy ratings. Now, it's back to finish up its first season -- mainly because the Fox Network had already ordered a season-long run of the show.

But on the new episode following the break, the main characters already find themselves facing a vacation that could last ... forever. Will they (and the series) manage to survive?

The Perfect Woman on 'The Good Guys' (VIDEO)

The Perfect Woman on 'The Good Guys'A gigantic explosion. Plus some sexual tension. That's the recipe on 'The Good Guys' (Mon., 9PM ET on Fox).

[Spoiler alert.]

Detective Dan Stark (Bradley Whitford) falls for a girl named Justine (Lola Glaudini). And she's pretty cute, too! Unfortunately, she's not at all into him. ... Or so one would think. Dan tries to "get with" Justine, but is brushed off in pretty much the rudest way possible.

Still, Dan being Dan, he refuses to give up on the perfect lady. He invites Justine back to his disgusting trailer; i.e. "the aluminum love-cradle." Yuck! Such an invitation wouldn't work out for most of us; but then, Dan is fairly suave, in his retro 1970s kind of way. Will he manage to make a love connection?

An Underwear Attack on 'The Good Guys' (VIDEO)

An Underwear Attack on 'The Good Guys'If you've come to see nearly naked images of Bradley Whitford, then you've come to the right place. On the latest episode of 'The Good Guys' (Mon., 9PM ET on Fox), Bradley -- as Detective Dan Stark -- decides to infiltrate the mob. Unfortunately, his undercover endeavors involve parading around in a very small pair of underwear. And even his partner Jack (Colin Hanks) has to see it.

"Is that really necessary?!" Jack asks, as his entirely undressed partner is beating him senseless as part of the undercover mission. And we have to ask that too. Is this necessary? Did we really need to see Bradley Whitord in a pair of skimpy lingerie? Aah! Our eyes are bleeding! Our eyes are bleeding! Sigh.

Getting Stupid and Impulsive on 'The Good Guys' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Jul 19th 2010 11:45PM
Getting Stupid and Impulsive on 'The Good Guys'Working with an ex-lover can really suck. (And on a personal note: your humble TV Squad blogger has worked with his ex-girlfriend, and it truly ... really ... sucked.) The latest episode of 'The Good Guys' (Mon., 9PM ET on Fox) deals with this very lame dilemma.

[Spoiler alert.]

Jack (Colin Hanks) is having some trouble with his ex-girlfriend Liz (played by Jenny Wade). The "trouble" is this: he's still in love with her, and she has a new boyfriend. So Jack decides to do something "stupid and impulsive." He rushes into Liz's office, grabs her in his arms, and plants a seemingly never-ending kiss on her lips.

No, Jack, no! Getting "stupid and impulsive" with a girl is always a bad way to go. Except for the approximately 5 percent of the time that it actually works out. So the question is this: will our young hero find new love with an old girlfriend?

'The Good Guys' Deal With a Big Explosion in a Tiny Room (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Jul 13th 2010 1:45AM
'The Good Guys' Deal With a Big Explosion in a Tiny RoomThere are a lot of reasons to avoid being stuck in a small room with someone else. Cramped quarters are just generally unpleasant, for one thing. And close proximity may lead to increased emotions -- and the potential for a fight to break out. But on 'The Good Guys' (Mon., 9PM ET on Fox), our heroes find a whole different reason to avoid a small room.

[Spoiler alert.]

Jack and Dan (Colin Hanks and Bradley Whitford) find themselves on the trail of a pair of gun smugglers. But their pursuit leads them to be trapped in a very tiny room -- where they are being shot at by a bad guy. And to make things even worse, there are huge boxes of explosives and ammunition in the room. Which are then blown up by one of the smugglers.

"This is why I hate small rooms!" says Dan, just before the massive exploding fireball engulfs the place. Will our heroes be okay?

'The Good Guys' Are Saved by a Brick'The Good Guys' (Mon., 9PM ET on Fox) throws together a straight-arrow cop and a reckless maverick cop. Not So Batman on 'The Good Guys'What do all normal human males want to be? Well, they all want to be Batman. (Okay, maybe that's not true. Maybe only truly geeky dudes want to be Batman. But anyway, let's go along with it, and not ask too many questions).

On 'The Good Guys' (Mon., 9PM ET on Fox), detectives Jack Bailey and Dan Stark meet a fairly wussy criminal. So they try to psyche him up by making a Batman reference.

Flirting, Murder and a Hot Wife on 'The Good Guys'Sometimes, you can never really tell where a case is going to go.

On 'The Good Guys' (Mon., 9PM ET on Fox), mismatched cop buddies Jack and Dan (Colin Hanks and Bradley Whitford) start out by investigating a broken vending machine. But soon enough, this seemingly simple case leads them to an high-class prostitution ring ... and then to an ugly murder. These things all happen so inevitably on cop shows, don't they?

'The Good Guys' - 'Bait & Switch' Recap

The Good Guys: Bait & Switch
(S01E02) "I've gotta tell ya ... worst date ever." -- Jack to Kiersten as they're being held at gunpoint

Ever since I recapped the pilot episode of 'The Good Guys' a few weeks ago, I've been impatiently waiting for it to return. It's comical, it's different, and it's got the great pairing of Colin Hanks and Bradley Whitford. What more could a girl want? It's escapism TV at its best.

This episode had pretty much everything in terms of great lines, fast cars (even if they were sitting in a warehouse), hot girls and, of course, great chemistry between Jack and Dan. OK, so the stolen cars story was a little clichéd, but at least it led to some funny separation anxiety for Dan and the Trans Am, his own personal version of T&A.

'The Good Guys' Fall for the Hot GirlNever trust anyone! That's the first rule of police work. And on 'The Good Guys' (Mon., 9PM ET on Fox), detective Jack Bailey (Colin Hanks) learns this to his peril.
