Damon Wayans Guests As His Son's Father on 'Happy Endings' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 28th 2011 1:50AM
Damon Wayans, 'Happy Endings'Damon Wayans Jr. has been proving his comedic chops for the past few weeks on 'Happy Endings' (Wed., 10PM ET on ABC) as the married Brad. While he is just one piece of the solid ensemble on the new series, he's still managed to stand out for more than his passing familial resemblance.

This week, as a reminder that he learned from one of the best, his famous father made a guest appearance on his new show. The senior Damon Wayans was cast as -- surprise! -- Brad's father.

He entered the episode as a buttoned down and strict taskmaster, but a near brush with death opened his worldview.

Damon Wayans on Working With His Son on 'Happy Endings' ... and Why They Went Clubbing Together

by Joel Keller, posted Apr 27th 2011 12:00PM
Damon Wayans on 'Happy Endings' on ABCIf you've been watching the new ABC relationship comedy 'Happy Endings' and noticed that one of the actors looks and acts a lot like Damon Wayans, you're right. That actor is Damon Wayans, just not the one you usually think of. It's Damon Wayans Jr., son of the 'In Living Color' and 'My Wife and Kids' star. And if you ask Damon Wayans Sr., he's pretty proud of his son.

"Everybody says the same thing about him, that he's just a great guy, they just love him," Damon Sr. told me last week. "I call him Pancakes, because everybody loves pancakes."

Tonight, Damon Sr. will appear on 'Happy Endings' as -- what else? -- the uptight father of Damon Jr.'s character Brad, who lets loose after a health scare. The two have worked together before; Damon Jr. was a writer on 'My Wife and Kids' and was directed by his father on 'The Underground,' But this was the first time the two of them could interact just as actors, which Damon Sr. enjoyed.

Williams asked him -- since he's single -- if he's "datin' around and doin' stuff."

Lorne Michaels goes easy on Jenny Slate for SNL f-bomb

by Joel Keller, posted Sep 28th 2009 11:10AM
For those who missed it (or weren't on the east coast) on Saturday night, new SNLer Jenny Slate managed to do something in her first-ever sketch that hadn't been accomplished on the show in 28 years: she let loose with an f-bomb.

In the sketch, Slate and Kristin Wiig play biker chicks, and instead of saying "friggin'" or "freakin'" or any of the other substitutes they were supposed to use, Slate actually uttered the words "and I fuckin' love you for that." See the video below. The look on her face after she just realizes what she did is even more priceless than the f-bomb itself:

Damon Wayans heading back to TV

by Allison Waldman, posted May 1st 2008 12:03PM
Damon WayansABC is turning back to an old favorite, hoping to rekindle some comic magic for the network. Funny, irreverent and -- two snaps and a swish -- occasionally brilliant comic Damon Wayans has been tapped by ABC for a new single-camera sitcom pilot called Never Better. Damon starred as a family man in the five-year hit My Wife and Kids, doing a Cosby-esque turn from 2001-2005.

The new show, Never Better, is being directed by Marc Buckland (My Name Is Earl, Ed) and centers on another family man, only in this incarnation, Damon is a guy who's struggling to be a good father and spouse despite his flaws and mistakes.

Wayans and Dick weigh in on the N-word

by Julia Ward, posted Dec 7th 2006 2:32PM
Damon WayansA couple of more TV celeb-related incidents post-Michael Richards rant have been making the news. First up, Andy Dick. You know him from News Radio, Less than Perfect and his MTV series The Assistant. He jumped on the stage at the Improv during Ian Bragg's set and, in an attempt at "too soon" humor, brandished the n-bomb. He's been apologizing ever since.

A legitimately funny and meaningful use of the "n-word," however, came from Damon Wayans' of Showtime's The Underground. Wayans took the stage at the now famous Laugh Factory last night with a stack of twenties. Since Richards' rant, the club owner has banned the word - levying a $20 per usage fee and three month ban on any comedian who uses the word. Wayans proceeded to drop the n-word sixteen times saying, "I'll be damned if the white man uses that word last." That's $320 price tag for a little freedom of speech, if you're counting.

Wayans wants to trademark "Nigga"

by Adam Finley, posted Mar 1st 2006 1:01PM
damon wayansDamon Wayans has been struggling for over a year now to get the word "Nigga" trademarked for a line of clothing. Not surprisingly, his applications have been routinely rejected due to a law which states trademarked names must not be "immoral or scandalous." This, of course, opens up a whole philosophical can of worms. Is it okay for the name to be used on clothing if the man behind the clothing is black? Do opinions matter if they're from outside the target demographic? If Wayans ever does manage to launch his clothing line, I think the scandal alone could make it a very lucrative venture, something that surely isn't lost on him.
