It's A Knockout on 'Tosh.0's Web Rematch for Drunken Boxers Austin And J.R. (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 13th 2011 4:55AM
Web Rematch, 'Tosh.0'Remember when the "Web Redemption" segments of 'Tosh.0' (Tue., 10PM ET on Comedy Central) were genuinely about giving people a second chance to not make a fool of themselves as they did in the viral videos that made them famous? Well, they're hardly that anymore. Now they're just like funny sequels.

This way works much better. How else would we have gotten to see J.R. training against King Hippo from 'Mike Tyson's Punch-Out'? Unfortunately, all that training didn't do anything to make the fight more exciting. It was another one-punch K.O.

Of course, it was more about the experience, and Daniel Tosh always finds a way to make us one part uncomfortable for every two parts we're laughing so hard it hurts. At this point we can imagine people trying to embarrass themselves on the Internet just so they can maybe score an appearance on 'Tosh.0.'

Tased Phillies Fan Gets Web Redemption on 'Tosh.0' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 6th 2011 4:45PM
Daniel Tosh gives tased Phillies fan Steven Consalvi his Web Redemption on 'Tosh.0'Seventeen-year-old Steven Consalvi made history in 2010 when he became the first person to be tased on the field at a Major League Baseball game. After jumping the fence in the eighth inning of a contest against the Cardinals, he was chased around the field by security before being shot with a taser gun; shortly thereafter he became a YouTube sensation. Tuesday on 'Tosh.0' (Tuesdays, 10PM on Comedy Central), Consalvi got his Web Redemption, and experienced what it's like to be on the other end of the taser gun.

Consalvi told host Daniel Tosh he had already given himself up when he got tased. "I looked around and saw that security guards were getting on the field," he said. "I see a security guard pointing a gun at me with a green tip on it. I had no idea what it was. So I had to call it quits, and I attempted to dive on the field."

For his Web Redemption, Consalvi was given the opportunity to tase a security guard, whose hands were tied. The fictionalized sketch ended with Consalvi tasing the security guard, inadvertently causing his death. Tosh and Consalvi then disposed of the body by putting it in the trunk of a car and pushing it over a (very small) hill. It exploded anyway, action film style, as Tosh and Consalvi walked from the flames victorious.

James Van Der Beek Crashes the Naked Wizard's Web Redemption on 'Tosh.0' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 1st 2011 3:19AM
James Van Der Beek, 'Tosh.0'This week's redemption featured a surprise guest star on 'Tosh.0' (Wed., 10PM ET on Comedy Central). In what turned out to be a very naked episode, it was appropriately the Naked Wizard's turn for redemption -- or rather, ridicule -- at the hands of Daniel Tosh.

His journey to infamy began when he took off a wizard costume at a music festival. The video of his getting tasered by the police for refusing to get dressed went viral, and subsequent editors added a tiny dot over his genitalia to emphasize his size there.

Tying it all together, Tosh took him on a 'Wizard of Oz'-inspired journey to get a bigger penis and maybe meet Paul McCartney. But, just like in the movie, the wizard proved to be a man behind a curtain. Only this time that man was James Van Der Beek.

Daniel Tosh Presents the High Toilet to the 'Shark Tank' on 'Tosh.0' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 25th 2011 3:39AM
The Hight Toilet, 'Tosh.0'While we're pretty sure you won't be seeing Daniel Tosh on 'Shark Tank' any time soon, we couldn't help but laugh at the invention he presented to the judges on a sketch for 'Tosh.0' (Tue., 10PM ET on Comedy Central).

As you'd expect from Tosh, it was toilet humor at its best ... and we actually mean that quite literally. If that kind of thing makes you squeamish, you might want to move on to another article right about now.

Dubbed the High Toilet, Tosh's invention was designed to virtually eliminate the potential splashback from a bowel movement. And yes, he went into rather graphic detail at this point. We loved his bravado at jumping onto the toilet and dropping his pants to demonstrate the product, and were even more grateful that it didn't go quite that far.

Daniel Tosh Takes a Punch in the Face From Manny Pacquiao for 'Tosh.0' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 18th 2011 2:03AM
Daniel Tosh & Manny Pacquiao, 'Tosh.0'Daniel Tosh returned to Comedy Central to continue the third season of his Internet video series 'Tosh.0' (Tue., 10PM ET on Comedy Central). Once again, he goes beyond just looking at videos and making fun of them, proving that he'll even go so far as to take a hit from a boxing champ for a laugh.

Most of us would hesitate not once, but forever, at the prospect of taking a punch from boxing champ Manny Pacquiao, but Tosh just climbed in the ring and got ready to take one for the team.

He even signed a contract freeing Pacquiao from any responsibility should he die in the ring. "Now I'm scared s*******," he said once the moment was upon him, but Tosh didn't hesitate. He took the punch like a man, and then crumpled to the ground like a wounded child.

Joke About Tom Bergeron's Wife Highlights Tosh Web Redemption (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Feb 9th 2011 11:40AM
Tom Bergeron Wife, Tosh.0'Is Tom Bergeron's wife hot? Bergeron obviously thinks so, and so did one of the "judges" on a 'Dancing With the Stars' spoof on 'Tosh.0' (Tuesdays, 10PM on Comedy Central). Bergeron appeared on 'Tosh.0' as a guest in one of the show's Web Redemption spots, where host Daniel Tosh danced with YouTube viral sensation Judson "Evolution of Dance" Laipply.

Bergeron introduced the dance segment, for which Tosh wore a skimpy sequined dress, before going to the judges' panel. "Because this is 'Dancing With the Internet Stars,' our judges are just ordinary jerks with webcams," he said.

Judge "Snatch Master" was predictably rude, but said that Bergeron's wife was hot. Tosh said, "Your wife is hot." Bergeron smiled and said, "Yeah, she is, actually."

A Kid Slams Daniel Tosh for the Format of His Show and Tosh Rips Into Him (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jan 26th 2011 5:40AM
'Tosh.0'It looks like Daniel Tosh may have found an arch-nemesis. And it's seven-year old Wes, or Wes.7 as his on-screen name showed. He submitted a video to 'Tosh.0' (Tue., 10PM on Comedy Central), where he pretty accurately broke down the format of the show.

Standing in front of his own green screen image, supposedly erected in his bedroom, he laid it out for us. "Green screen? Check. YouTube videos? Check. Random videos of me 'naked?' Check."

At this last one, Wes even had a pixelated shot of himself running around a swingset seemingly without pants on.

"I just don't get it," he concluded. "But hey, I'm only seven."

YouTube's Cursing Preacher Teaches Sunday School on 'Tosh.0' (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Aug 19th 2010 8:35AM
YouTube's Cursing Preacher on 'Tosh.0'The "Spirit of Truth" was in the house that Daniel Tosh built. The comedian and host of 'Tosh.0' (Wed., 10:30PM ET on COM) chose YouTube's cursing "Black TV Preacher" as recipient of the week's Web Redemption redo.

"Angry Black Preacher was just a shepherd in search of a flock," explained Tosh. "And as a Christian comic, who better to guide me in times of doubt than a black man with a mullet?"

The man then proceeded to "teach" Tosh's Sunday School class: "You young children have got to learn to respect your [beep] parents!" The kids covered their ears and mouths in utter shock. But it got worse. Much worse.

Web Redemption for Peter Pan on 'Tosh.0' (VIDEO)

Web Redemption for Peter Pan on 'Tosh.0'Daniel Tosh invited "two young thesbos" to participate in the "Web Redemption" segment of 'Tosh.0' (Wed., 10:30PM ET on COM).

You see, the host/comedian normally provides snarky commentary on the internet's latest viral videos. But after seeing how their Peter Pan production went horribly wrong, he emphathized with their desire to "fly without crashing through that fourth wall."

So Tosh gave the thespians a Web Redemption redo on the show. But... that didn't go very smoothly either.

Daniel Tosh Raises a Lion Named James Van Der Beek (VIDEO)

by AOL TV Staff, posted Aug 5th 2010 4:48PM
Tosh.0We've all seen the inspiring video of Christian the lion being reunited with the guys who raised him when he was younger. Now Daniel Tosh of 'Tosh.0' (Wednesdays at 10:30PM ET on Comedy Central) reveals that he too raised a lion from a cub. A lion that he found behind a Big Lots and named "James Van Der Beek."

If you think that Van Der Beek makes an appearance in this clip, you'd be mistaken, though it would have been funny. Instead, it ends in a lot of blood. Blood that looks like Hershey's Chocolate Syrup.

Is Daniel Tosh the New Face of Comedy Central?

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 13th 2010 2:30PM
Daniel ToshIf asked who is the most-watched personality at Comedy Central, you'd figure Jon Stewart ('The Daily Show') or maybe Stephen Colbert ('The Colbert Report'). What might surprise you is that it's neither of them, at least not based on the ratings.

In the beginning, Daniel Tosh's biggest competition for his new series 'Tosh.0' was G4's 'Web Soup.' While both shows tackled web-based shorts, G4's 'Web Soup' had the advantage of being part of 'The Soup' franchise. Nevertheless, Tosh quickly took the lead, based in large part on his fast-paced comedic approach to the series and no-holds-barred attitude.

'Tosh.0' kicked off its summer run June 2, 2010 and the show just blew up. Five of the past six episodes have set new series high, as reported by Reuters, and now Tosh finds himself in a strange position, atop the studio shows on Comedy Central.

'Tosh.0' Renewed For Third Season

by Allyssa Lee, posted Apr 8th 2010 2:15PM
Web-slingers, rejoice: Comedy Central has ordered up another season of its Internet-centric series 'Tosh.0,' starring comedian Daniel Tosh.

"I am beyond thrilled about Season Three of 'Tosh.0,'" said Tosh in the press release. "Comedy Central has been like a father to me; they pretend to support my comedy and I am pretty sure they have slept with my mom."

The cable network announced that the show's third season already has a premiere date of Wed., Jan. 12, 2011, will contain at least 29 episodes.

Comedy Central wants more Tosh.0

by Danny Gallagher, posted Dec 16th 2009 5:07PM
One of the biggest surprise hits of the season has been given a chance to make some more surprises.

Comedian Daniel Tosh's Internet snark show Tosh.0 has not only been given a second season, but it's also scored the biggest episode order in the network's history. And it did it without the use of elaborate ventriloquism puppets!

I've actually enjoyed Tosh's venture into comedy cable a lot. It delves much deeper into its subject matter than it has to and has found new ways and formats to make fun of dumb stuff on the Internet. It's America's Funniest Home Videos with a full-time writing stuff.

Tosh.0 vs. Web Soup

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 6th 2009 11:03AM
Daniel Tosh & Miss South CarolinaI remember long ago in a cable land far away when a little show called Talk Soup started. It was clever, riffing on talk show shenanigans. We've come a long way since then, with clip shows blanketing the network. And then there's the Internet. On paper the idea of a web video iteration of The Soup, as it's now called, sounds solid enough, and G4 is a good place for it, but as Michael pointed out, Web Soup just isn't working.

Even though G4 is the place for techie stuff and they handle web videos already, Web Soup still manages to feel outdated and stodgy. And Chris Hardwick, while funny when he fills in on Attack of the Show, is almost mind-numbingly not funny hosting Web Soup. But Chris Hardwick and the gang were not alone in exploring web videos on our TVs. Comedy Central threw comedian Daniel Tosh into the mix with the webbily titled Tosh.0. But which one, if either, is better?
