Nip/Tuck: Rachel Ben Natan

After a month off, Nip/Tuck is back. Only 14 of this season's 22 episodes were finished pre-WGA Strike, so it makes sense that FX threw that mini hiatus in there. I was really looking forward to this episode, and even though I liked it, there was still a lot of stuff that just didn't feel fresh to me. Recycled is probably more accurate. I love this show, but c'mon... Sean and Christian fighting over Julia is really getting old.

Nip/Tuck: Dawn Budge II

Rosie O'Donnell as Dawn Budge in Nip/Tuck.
(S05E04) "I was attacked by a giant wedge-tailed eagle in Calgary." - Dawn

The return of the best guest star Nip/Tuck has ever had! Say what you will about Rosie O'Donnell (I couldn't stand her on The View), but when she steps into the shoes of Dawn Budge, it's gold. She was one of the highlights of last season (not to mention Christian's first paying "escort" customer) and her trip to Los Angeles easily made this episode an instant Nip/Tuck classic. From her hang-glider scene when the eagle attacked her to the face she made when the "ass bandit" had his way with her, she stole every scene she was in.

Rosie O'Donnell in talks for Nip/Tuck spinoff

by Anna Johns, posted Oct 16th 2006 8:35PM
rosie o'donnellGeez. Suddenly Rosie is once again television's 'It' girl. The New York Post is reporting that the creators of Nip/Tuck are in talks with Rosie O'Donnell to create her own spinoff series (our Brett Love already speculated such things last month). O'Donnell appeared on the FX series earlier this month and will return to Nip/Tuck tonight as Dawn Budge, an earless lottery winner who pays Julian McMahon to sleep with her. (Rosie called Julian her "new Tommy" today on The View) Apparently, the producers liked the Dawn Budge character so much that they want to make an entire series out of her (Rosie's reps confirm the 'talks' to the Post).

That would make Rosie one busy lady. I like her as a talk show host but have never thought much of her as an actor. At least it would allow Rosie an outlet for her bitterness that seems to be simmering underneath the nice exterior she's exuding on The View these days (I think she's a little of both- nice and bitter).

*Update: Rosie's website says talks are over and she said 'yes' to the series. Looks like it's happening, people.

Julian McMahon and Rosie O'Donnell

(S04E05) Jeez, kind of a slow episode but the final few minutes made up for it. We'll get to that later though. Let's talk about Rosie O'Donnell first. She was great! I had such low expectations for her role as a white-trash lottery winner. Rosie even showed a clip on The View a day or two ago and it didn't look all that good. I don't know, maybe it's just because she's everywhere right now. Regardless, she was hilarious as Dawn Budge and easily makes the list of great McNamara/Troy patients. Right up there there with Mrs. Grubman and Momma Boone.
