EXCLUSIVE MTV 'Death Valley' Sneak Peek: Lock Up Your Werewolves!

by Maggie Furlong, posted Sep 16th 2011 10:00AM
MTV's Death Valley'Death Valley' (Mondays at 10:30pm ET on MTV) is kind of like 'True Blood' meets 'Reno 911,' with the LAPD's special Undead Task Force fighting all things monster-y -- including zombies, vampires and werewolves -- in Los Angeles.

It's got all the blood and guts you want from a horror genre show, with the dark comedy coming out of the completely ridiculous situations they're called to regulate.

We've got an exclusive sneak peek at next week's episode, which finds the UTF being called to a porn shoot in the Valley because one of the actors turns werewolf on the cast and crew. How much do you want to bet the men on the task force take that call?

Also, as you see in this clip, Kirsten (Caity Lotz) is sent on her first werewolf lockdown where she finds a possible threat in a seemingly "normal" undead-human household.

Take a look and tell us: Are you watching 'Death Valley'?

'Death Valley'With the rampant success of the supernatural in entertainment, featuring the likes of vampires, werewolves, and more recently zombies, it was just a matter of time before a satire of the genre came to light. But rather than a movie by the Wayans family, we got MTV's 'Death Valley' (Mon., 10:30PM ET on MTV).

Every bit as gory and tense as its more serious targets in popular culture, 'Death Valley' is surprisingly entertaining. Dare I say it's even started developing characters that we actually care about. But, more importantly, it's making us laugh.

'Death Valley' Mixes Zombies, Vampires, Werewolves and Laughs (VIDEO)

'Death Valley' - 'Pilot'Like a bizarre mash-up of 'True Blood,' 'The Walking Dead' and 'Reno 911!,' MTV's latest foray into scripted television is a horror comedy that defies expectations.

'Death Valley' (Mon., 10:30PM ET on MTV) is perhaps best characterized as a frenetic 'Shaun of the Dead.'

Like 'Shaun,' it treats its horror subject matter like the genuine threats they are, for the most part, but still manages to find humor throughout, even when it's broad humor like a rookie cop beating a zombie to death with a plant while trying to get the attention of her superior officers who are in the next room over.
