New TV on DVD releases this week

Andy Barker, P.I.Here are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.

Who would buy Hammertime on DVD? I'm actually asking. Is that something that you would actually watch again after you've already watched it on TV?

There are some good complete series sets being released this week, though: Andy Richter's Andy Barker, P.I., a Rome gift set, Farscape, and a new box for The Sopranos.

  • 7th Heaven - Season 9
  • Andy Barker, P.I. - Complete Series
  • Ben 10: Alien Force - Vol. 5
  • Drawn Together - Complete Series

Drawn Together housemates getting back together for a movie

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 22nd 2009 5:06PM
Drawn TogetherDrawn Together was one of those shows that everyone loved to hate. The critics blasted it constantly, and yet it managed three seasons. It was about as inappropriate as I've ever seen animation get; especially for something that aired on television. Yes, I'm saying it made South Park and much of Adult Swim look tame by comparison.

And I loved every minute of it.

So imagine my excitement when I read that Comedy Central is bringing me The Drawn Together Movie: The Movie. You can watch it, too, but I think we all know they made it for me. It promises to be even lewder and cruder than the series. In fact, the fact that the characters can cuss without being censored is the impetus for the film's driving plot.

Animation news: Aqua Teen, Simpsons and Spider-Man - VIDEO

by Adam Finley, posted Mar 26th 2007 2:03PM

spider manHey, everybody, here's a few tasty tidbits from the world of animation for you. Please chew carefully:

A fourth trailer for The Simpsons movie was released not too long ago. Most of you have probably seen it already, but if not, I've placed it at the end of this post. The brief shot of Lisa fainting over the cute boy gets me every time. The animation in that sequence is unlike anything they do on the TV series, which leads me to believe this movie is going to kick twelve essential kinds of ass.

Nielsen takes notice of college students

by Brad Linder, posted Feb 12th 2007 1:22PM
NielsenNielsen has begun adding college students that live in dorms to its ratings. In practical terms, this means 130 drunk kids will represent about 2 million actual college students, and have an inordinately large influence on the television landscape.

The Wall Street Journal reports that some shows have seen a huge boost due to the inclusion of college student data. Comedy Central's Drawn Together saw a 60% ratings bump, which shouldn't be surprising, as I'm not sure anyone who doesn't live in a dorm watches the show. Of course, Nielsen estimated 163,000 additional people were watching the show based on the fact that 12 of those college kids were tuning in. Yay statistical sampling.

Nielsen gathers data from about 10,000 households and uses that data to extrapolate what the rest of the country is watching. While that system probably worked pretty well thirty years ago when there were only a handful of networks, viewers today can choose from hundreds of different channels.
