Tv's Top 5!: Shawn Hornbeck phone home or Oprah
If being kidnapped for four years isn't the most traumatizing thing that can happen to someone in their lifetime, lets just make things better by appearing on the most popular talk show on TV. Afterall, Oprah is the right place to get the question answered that everyone wants to know. Just as Maury is good for other things.
And hey, everyone wants to meet Oprah.
Taking a page out of the Elizabeth Smart encyclopedia on what to do after you've been kidnapped, Shawn Hornbeck made an appearance on Oprah yesterday.
Its apparent that the entire country has lost its sensitivity chip. Have we forgotten that he is a young teenager and we might be compounding the situation even more by indirectly pressuring him to tell his story, even if we do use glittery bait such as Ms. Winfrey herself. Sure, she owns an entire school but then again she is childless, so maybe parents shouldn't look to Oprah as the best person for this job. If you watch yesterday's video clip, he obviously is uncomfortable because quite frankly, how is he supposed to take the applause? Oprah does great things, but making kidnapped kids talk on her show might not be one of them.
