Why Are So Many Creeps Drawn to Erin Andrews?
by Joel Keller, posted Apr 5th 2010 7:28PM
There are plenty of attractive women on TV. Hundreds, in fact. But it seems that, through no actions of their own, some of those women get more undue attention than others. Currently, Ivanka Trump, Kathryn Erbe and Audrina Patridge are all dealing with their own stalker issues, and I'm sure there are more that we're not hearing about publicly. But these cases, as scary as they are, feel like small potatoes compared to what's happening with ESPN's Erin Andrews, who is also currently a contestant on 'Dancing With The Stars.' An advanced kind of creep seems to be drawn to her.
Last week, just after the creep who took video of her changing through a hotel peephole last summer was sentenced to two and a half years in prison, we're now hearing that since September, Andrews has been receiving death threats that have been e-mailed into 'The Dan Patrick Show' on DirecTV. The threats were at first sexual in nature, according to the AP, but soon turned threatening. The threats have also mentioned the pervert who got caught for the peephole videos.
Jillian Reynolds thinks Erin Andrews is "hot" - TCA Report
by Joel Keller, posted Jul 30th 2009 6:02AM
After Monday's Fox Reality panel on the new show Househusbands of Hollywood, I decided to ask Jillian Reynolds about her take on the Erin Andrews peephole fiasco. Her responses surprised me a bit, mainly because she's been in the sports reporting world as much as anyone, but she was still surprised that something like that would ever happen."She's gorgeous. People want to look at her. She's hot," says Reynolds. Still, it's no excuse. "This was obviously an inside job; someone knew her schedule. That's kinda creepy. I worked for the NFL for ten years, and I trust everyone there implicitly. And for that trust to be broken is kinda creepy."
ESPN bans New York Post over Erin Andrews peephole photos
by Joel Keller, posted Jul 23rd 2009 6:00PM
I wouldn't say that we here at TV Squad have been purposefully silent about this Erin Andrews peephole mishegas; there's just been more interesting stuff going on. It seemed like a small, albeit creepy, story on the surface: popular sideline reporter and object of the blogosphere's affection gets shot naked in her hotel room through a peephole. Without a doubt, it's a depressing story, both for Andrews, whose privacy was violated on many levels, and for the sports blogosphere, who have to endure yet another accusation that their frat boy shenanigans helped foster this kind of behavior. But it was still a small story. That was, of course, until The New York Post decided to make the oh-so-classy move of publishing stills of the video in print and on their website.
Now it's getting serious: ESPN has banned all Post reporters from appearing on any of their shows.
