Ewan McGregor Plays With the Camera, Swears Like Crazy on 'Late Late Show' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 16th 2011 4:15AM
Ewan McGregor was pretty excited to be in Craig Ferguson's "basement" studio on 'The Late Late Show' (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS). He wanted to check out the different areas, including the camera that Ferguson always smacks and pushes around. But it was when Ferguson showed him a fun little self-censoring trick that McGregor really let loose and had some fun for the studio audience. It was fun for them, because they got to hear what he said.
Ewan McGregor Blows His Bagpipe Gig on 'Ellen' (VIDEO)
by Harley W. Lond, posted Feb 23rd 2010 8:47PM
Bagpipes are a tough instrument to play (you need a lot of air), but that didn't stop Ellen DeGeneres from bringing out the instrument on Tuesday's 'The Ellen DeGeneres' show (weekdays, syndicated). "Well, I can't do a salute to Scotland without some bagpipes and I haven't played in awhile but I'm gonna try," she said, then proceeded to give it her best, actually geting some sounds out of the instrument. Then she asked guest and Scotsman Ewan McGregor to give it a go. McGregor -- who said he had never played before but wanted to give it a try -- also gave it the old college try, but with marginal success. You might say they both blow at it. Regis Attempts a Scottish Accent on 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (VIDEO)

Regis Philbin attempts to win over Ewan McGregor by reciting the name of an actor while using a Scottish accent on 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated), but ultimately he fails to impress."Liam Neeson," Philbin said, with a barely perceptible trace of Scottish brogue.
Ewan McGregor Explains Olympic Sport of Curling (VIDEO)
by Donald Deane, posted Feb 18th 2010 2:00PM
We're baffled by the Olympic event of curling. We just don't get it. And Ewan McGregor's humorous attempt to demystify the sport by explaining its origins on 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM ET on ABC) doesn't really help."It was our sport. We started it in Scotland," McGregor said. "I think two drunk guys were coming back from the pub at night and they were fighting over a rock ... As they fought over it, it slid down the ice and they thought, 'Ah, that's a good idea.'"

Chris Elliott Gives Ewan McGregor the Brush-Off (VIDEO)
by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 18th 2010 4:33AM
Chris Elliott is all grown up, and has a daughter who's all grown up, too! Abby Elliott (she's a regular on 'Saturday Night Live') appeared on 'Late Show With David Letterman' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS), while her dad watched nervously backstage in the green room.If only that annoying guy sitting next to him would just leave him alone! This may be the only time in history when someone told Ewan McGregor, "I don't know who you are, but can you shut up?!"

Ewan McGregor and Jim Carrey Lock Lips (VIDEO)
by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 18th 2010 1:20AM
If we were going to analyze this photo of Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor locking lips, we'd say that Carrey is way more into it than McGregor, whose eyes are wide open. If you're really passionate about a kiss, you close your eyes and get right into it.McGregor explained the photo on 'Late Show With David Letterman' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS), saying they were celebrating their newbie knighthood in France (note the medals). Ok, we'll go with that.

Leno Weekly: Chelsea Handler, Dr. Phil, Ewan McGregor and more!
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 31st 2009 1:01AM
Hey, a lot happens in five shows. Let's get right into it!COMEDY CORRESPONDENTS
Arsenio Hall was featured twice this week. His first appearance was in a segment that had potential called "This Is What They Said/This Is What They Meant." I was expecting to see video clips of celebrities, politicians and the like spouting their same bullcrap, and then having Hall tell us what he thinks they really meant. Instead, it was Leno reading quotes, including historically famous ones like Julius Ceasar's "Et tu, Brute!" The gag didn't make sense anymore, and even worse the bits weren't funny.
Luckily, he came back later in the week with an on-site spot at Yankee Stadium, where he interviewed players from both teams and even set up a bet against a Yankees player and Phillies fan Kevin Eubanks involving Snuggies.
Jonny Lee Miller: In the Limelight
by Allison Waldman, posted Mar 21st 2008 2:43PM
When I first saw the commercials for ABC's Eli Stone, I didn't recognize Jonny Lee Miller. Then, after watching the first episode and liking him, I decided to find out who he was. Imagine my surprise when I learned that I had seen him, multiple times, in a variety of roles. And he was British! I was duly impressed and intrigued. Jonny Lee Miller was a helluva an actor, a chameleon who could be as convincing as a junkie named Sick Boy in Trainspotting as he was a San Francisco lawyer named Eli.%Gallery-18873%
Ewan and the polar bears
by Adam Finley, posted Jan 16th 2006 5:22PM
Last night I caught an episode of Nature's "The Polar Bears of Churchill with
Ewan McGregor." Usually when a documentary-type show sticks a celebrity in the mix it's a ploy to get more people
to tune in, but in this case I was actually quite impressed with how "into it" McGregor was. He seemed
genuinely delighted to be there and witness firsthand the trek of polar bears as they venture out in search of new ice
and new food. McGregor's "naive, but not too naive" approach reminds me of Alan Alda on another PBS series,
Scientific American Frontiers. It's not so much like watching a famous actor as it is watching someone who is
genuinely intrigued by the subject he's reporting. If this whole "film career" doesn't work out, I think he'd
do a fine job as a nature show host.TV Squad Hot Topics
