'Simpsons' on the Jury for Peter and the Boys on 'Family Guy' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 5th 2011 2:30AM
After a fun cameo by 'King of the Hill' on 'The Simpsons' earlier in the night, 'Family Guy' (Sun., 9PM ET on FOX) went for a triple crossover. This time, though, it wasn't exclusively with Seth MacFarlane's other shows. Well, not entirely. In a rather blatant attempt to remind viewers about 'The Cleveland Show,' Cleveland and Donna both crossed over to Quahog, with Cleveland reuniting with the boys for a road trip adventure. The adventure itself saw them arrested under false charges and tried before a jury of their peers.
"I don't think they see it that way," Joe said after the camera panned across a jury made up entirely of characters from 'The Simpsons.' It's a pretty accurate assessment of the two shows which may share a night and a network, but little else as the people behind making both shows don't seem to get along very well.
Peter Goes to War Against the Amish on 'Family Guy' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 28th 2011 3:00AM
When Meg found herself falling for an Amish boy, it sparked a feud between his father and Peter on 'Family Guy' (Sun., 9PM ET on FOX). When the Amish father actually did Peter's chores for him, to rob him of the joy, it was time to bring out the big guns.Unfortunately, Peter learned that as fast as you can blow up a barn, an Amish community can raise another one in its place. Sure, it was one of the more obvious gags, but it was nevertheless funny watching that same footage play over and over again as Peter tried different ways to blow up the barn.
Joe and Bonnie are Reunited With Their Son on 'Family Guy' (VIDEO)
by Catherine Lawson, posted Nov 21st 2011 9:20AM
Thanksgiving on 'Family Guy' (Sun., 9PM ET on Fox) brought a happy family reunion for Joe and Bonnie Swanson. They'd been mourning the death of their soldier son Kevin, but he turned out to be alive.Kevin tells his happy parents that he'd been in a coma ever since his quarters blew up, but a suspicious Joe keeps finding holes in his story and pushes Kevin to admit the whole truth. "I never was in any coma. I bailed. I faked my death and went AWOL." That's when the police officer in Joe takes over: He slaps the cuffs on Kevin and prepares to take him in. Can Bonnie stop him?
Seth MacFarlane: Was Last Night's 'Family Guy' His 9/11 Catharsis?
by Mike Ryan, posted Nov 14th 2011 4:00PM
Seth MacFarlane was closer to the attacks of September 11, 2001, than you may realize. Last night, MacFarlane's 'Family Guy' aired an episode titled 'Back to the Pilot' (written by Mark Hentemann), in which Stewie and Brian travel back in time and meet their younger selves. Brian warns himself about the 9/11 attacks – which, at first, are now prevented. But the end result is a civil war after George W. Bush loses the 2004 election and secedes Texas from the union. Brian and Stewie Travel Back to 1999 to See the 'Family Guy' Pilot (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 14th 2011 3:00AM
Originally, this week's episode of 'Family Guy' (Sun., 9PM ET on FOX) was going to be the next installment in the 'Road to...' episodes featuring Brian and Stewie. Instead, Stewie's time machine brought the duo 'Back to the Pilot.'It was certainly a fun look back at the early animation from 1999, as well as the slightly different voices used for several of the main characters, and of course Lacey Chabert voicing Meg. But it was just too tempting for Brian to alter the past, and when they got back to the present, they discovered he'd single-handedly thwarted the 9/11 attacks.
Unfortunately, this led to a second Civil War, and five years down the road the world is a post-apocalyptic wasteland ... but it's not all bad. Cleveland's back!
Quagmire Plots to Murder His Sister's Abuser on 'Family Guy' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 31st 2011 6:00AM
'Family Guy' (Sun., 9PM ET on FOX) got very serious and very dark in their subject matter this week. When Quagmire's sister stopped by to visit, the boys found themselves awkwardly in the middle of her abusive relationship with her boyfriend.Domestic abuse is a difficult subject to tackle respectfully in comedy, and certainly not one you expect to see on a show like 'Family Guy.' But for all its general ridiculousness, the show did handle this very serious problem with the respect it deserves.
They also provided a fantasy narrative for many people who feel unsure what to do about this very real situation in their lives through Quagmire.
Seth MacFarlane's Leading Men All Meet in Conclusion of Hurricane Crossover (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 3rd 2011 2:45AM
Originally planned to the be the season finales for Seth MacFarlane's shows this past May, the hurricane crossover for 'The Cleveland Show,' 'Family Guy' and 'American Dad' (Sun., 9:30PM ET on FOX) was shelved in response to a swath of tornadoes devastating the country at that time. While there was a lot of fanfare for their impending premiere back then, FOX very quietly dropped them in as the second episodes of their respective series this season. Disappointingly, it wasn't until 'American Dad,' though, that the hurricane really became the focal point of the story.
As such, it was a bit of an overall disappointment as a crossover event, though we absolutely loved Cleveland Brown and Peter Griffin making a cameo at the end of 'American Dad.'
Lottery Winnings Go Straight to Peter's Head on 'Family Guy' Premiere (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 26th 2011 5:00AM
The Griffins won the lottery on the season premiere of 'Family Guy' (Sun., 9PM ET on FOX), but don't worry that this is going to be like that last lame season of 'Roseanne.' They blew through the winnings -- twice, actually -- by the end of the episode. But while they were sitting pretty, Peter let it go a little too far, torturing his friends for his own amusement. Before he turned the tables on them, though, Quagmire and Joe were doing the classic things friends do when one of them comes into a large sum of money.
Quagmire was looking for an investment while Joe was suddenly needing to throw a private concert for his wife. Even more egregious, they were laughing awfully hard at his jokes.
Peter Griffin Tells Cleveland They're Not Friends Anymore on 'Cleveland Show' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 26th 2011 2:45AM
Seth MacFarlane kicked off his portion of 'Animation Domination' with a crossover on 'The Cleveland Show' (Sun., 8:30PM ET on FOX). After finding out Peter Griffin had been in Stoolbend and not contacted him, Cleveland headed to 'Family Guy's Quahog to find out why. There was a lot of fourth wall-breaking, like the Griffins assuming Cleveland's show had been cancelled. Finally, Peter bluntly told Cleveland that he no longer thinks of them as friends.
The episode then followed Cleveland trying to forge a tighter bond with his Stoolbend drinking buddies, only to have Peter arrive at the last moment -- with Chris' evil monkey -- to save them all. It was a fun nod to Cleveland's past, and another reminder of how fun these shows can mesh together.
Could Seth MacFarlane Be TV's Next Late-Night Talk Show Host?
by Alex Moaba, posted Aug 17th 2011 1:45PM
Seth MacFarlane, one of the busiest guys in Hollywood, has built his constantly-expanding TV empire working mostly behind-the-scenes. MacFarlane got his start as a writer and animator on 'Family Guy,' spun-off with 'The Cleveland Show,' and in recent weeks, has branched out into producing a varied slate of projects: a 'Flintstones' reboot and an updated version of Carl Sagan's 'Cosmos: A Space-Time Odyssey.'But despite this bevvy of projects he currently has on the air and in development, we can't shake the feeling that the final frontier of MacFarlane's quest to take over your TV could put him in front of the cameras, not behind them. Is it possible he might be TV's next late-night talk show host? He's got the good looks of on-camera talent, his Twitter feed is filled with jokes about politics and current events, and pretty much everything he's touched has turned successful.
Read on for our theory about why MacFarlane would make a great late-night host, and why we think it could actually become a reality.
Seth MacFarlane Will Be Charlie Sheen's Roast Master
by Alex Moaba, posted Aug 11th 2011 12:20PM
If there's anyone with a wit sharp, dry and cutting enough to hilariously deconstruct Charlie Sheen, it's 'Family Guy' creator Seth MacFarlane. Comedy Central announced that MacFarlane will serve as Roast Master at the highly-anticipated Sheen roast set to air Mon., Sept. 19 at 10 PM ET.MacFarlane has presided over more Comedy Central roasts than any other comedian, also serving as Roast Master to David Hasselhoff and Donald Trump. The Trump Roast pulled in roast-record ratings, and we're pretty sure the Sheen extravaganza will leave those numbers in the dust. Possibly Angel Dust.
"I'm very excited to work with Comedy Central again on the roast. Charlie is a true icon with a talent that is strong and pure and concentrated into small crystals which can be smoked or eaten," McFarlane said in a statement.
What to Watch: April 26 - May 2

Law & Order: SVU - Tuesday April 27, 10 pm, CTV/NBC
NBC must have heard I was complaining about the 'Law & Order' franchise and decided they had to surprise me with a wicked little treat. So they hired Sharon Stone for a guest role as Stabler's ex-partner, now an ADA named Jo Malone. Sharon sticks around for four episodes and I do sincerely hope the writers make full use of her ability to play smart snarky women you don't necessarily like, but respect.
Five of the Creepiest Real Life Versions of Famous Cartoons
by Danny Gallagher, posted Apr 15th 2010 6:03PM
In TV, there are two distinct worlds: our world and the cartoon world. So far, we've gotten along pretty well because, for the most part, cartoons have kept their animated butts in their world. We don't allow it to happen very often because when cartoons try to invade the real world on those rare occasions, the transference is nightmarish. Their distorted animated features and expressions can make 'Eraserhead' look like an Olson Twins movie.
Here are five of the creepiest looking and sounding real life cartoon crossovers that will have you bleaching your brain with the magic of Clorox 2.
Sundays with Seth: Farts, the Worst April Fool's Gag of All Time and More Farts
by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 12th 2010 4:53AM

I don't know if you've heard. But, apparently, the bird is the word.
'Family Guy' snuck in a nice callback to the season seven episode, 'I Dream of Jesus,' when Peter burst out with "Surfin' Bird." We got just a taste of Peter's classic dance and performance, but it was enough to bring back the laughs from that excellent episode.
Luckily, the night didn't need to rest on its past glories, as Seth MacFarlane returned to Sunday night dominance. With the failure of 'Sons of Tucson,' FOX dusted off 'American Dad' and brought the series back early to pinch-hit with new episodes. While 'Family Guy' didn't bring us the promised crossover event -- that was apparently an April Fool's joke on us -- they did play the cruelest joke you could imagine on their cast: they told them all they were going to die.
Has 'Family Guy' Finally Gone Too Far? (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Apr 12th 2010 1:50AM
The sitcom 'Family Guy' (Sun., 9PM ET on Fox) has always been known for fairly shocking humor, but on the latest episode, things get very shocking indeed. During a 'Dances With Wolves' parody, Peter Griffin shoots the head off of a Native American woman with a rifle. He then kneels next to her as the camera lingers by her corpse. Watch the video after the jump.
