Now she has spoken candidly to her 'E! News' co-host Ryan Seacrest about her diagnosis and her decision to take something so private and place it out there in the public domain.
Speaking to Seacrest via satellite from New York Monday night Rancic said that she was "a nervous wreck" before going on-air, but that she's glad she did it.
"I feel like such a heavy weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I've been keeping this secret from a lot of dear friends for a while now and it's nice to get it out there and not hide anymore."
Rancic also hopes that by going public with her battle she can help educate women about the importance of regular breast exams and screening.
Hyland's seen Michele work her red carpet magic -- and when Joan Rivers asked the young 'Modern Family' star if she could do it herself, Hyland went a little Regina George on Michele.
"So it's like a slow-motion picture kinda thing," Hyland told Rivers. "It's just like, she puts her hands on her hips like this and sticks out her collarbone-I don't know if you can see-she sticks out her collarbone to make her look skinnier and she goes [pouts lips] sticks out her lips."
Seeing as the 'Glee' fans were not impressed, Hyland had to do some damage control on the Emmy Awards red carpet.
The Celebrity Apprentice - Sunday March 6, 9PM ET/PT, Global/NBC
I honestly don't know how The Donald continues to attract genuine -- if slightly faded -- celebrities to compete on his tired show. But mixed in with a 'Real' housewife and Gary Busey are Marlee Matlin, Dionne Warwick, Niki Taylor, Meat Loaf and Lil Jon. As always, they'll compete in a number of dubious marketing challenges and raise money for charity. In this 2-hour premiere, the task is running a pizza joint in NYC, where the contestants break a fundraising record and then His Hairness fires someone.
Some of these are easier to live without than others. Who really needs snail mail anyway? And it would take one hell of a sale to make a dent in our enormous sales taxes. But living without the E! Channel means that rap songs have less meaning, that the covers of People and US Weekly magazines are incomprehensible, and that we think of Chelsea Handler primarily as an author. It's intolerable to wallow in such ignorance and I'm glad something is finally being done about it.
There have been three constants in this late stage of Joan Rivers' career. First, her project will involve her daughter Melissa. Second, she will work for E! Entertainment. Third, it will involve interviews on the red carpet of some awards show. All three of these are true in her new series of Fashion Police specials for E! Although in this case, Melissa Rivers is a producer and won't generally be appearing on screen.
I remember her best as the voice of Dot Matrix in Spaceballs. I did watch her Comedy Central Roast and found it to be lackluster. After all the plastic surgery, I'm surprised she can even move her mouth anymore. It's frozen in a grin like Jack Nicholson's Joker.
I'm fascinated to know why Joan Rivers' red carpet interviews are so popular that E! keeps asking her back. Does anybody out there watch and like the interviews? Isn't it like watching a train wreck?

American Idol (8PM, Fox)
Just when you think 'American Idol' can't get any bigger, it does. The first season averaged 12.7 million viewers; last season averaged over 30 million. A whopping 36 million watched Taylor Hicks triumph over Katharine McPhee in the finale. Some people are predicting a drop this year, but most of 'em are envious executives at other networks. 'Idol' is a cultural juggernaut. Deal with it.
