Ferris Buellers Day off
'Justified' - 'Long in the Tooth' Recap
by Danny Gallagher, posted Apr 7th 2010 4:50AM

(S01E04) "I knew that deep down, I was capable of this. I yank a guy's teeth out and now I kill a guy. You gotta get away from me." - Roland to Mindy
The real challenge for 'Justified' is finding new ways for Raylan Givens to blow people away. Of course he's going to do it in just about every episode. He's a borderline renegade U.S. Marshal with an eagle shooting eye and a distemper for disrespect. He's a colonial cowboy with a beat-up heart. He's Dick Cheney on Zoloft.
The trick, however, is changing the game just a little bit each time so the surprise doesn't wear away over time. This week's episode not only found a new way for Raylan to put a bullet in another smart-ass criminal's torso, but the ride getting there was just as fun.
Matthew Broderick Takes on TV

Goodbye Broadway, hello television. Tony-award winning Matthew Broderick has decided to do a television series as the next iteration of his multifaceted career. Considering his success in most every endeavor, there's little reason to doubt that he's going to do pretty well. Remember, this is the guy who was Ferris Bueller. He played Leo Bloom in 'The Producers' and, hell, he's the voice of Simba, 'The Lion King.'
NBC has lined up Broderick to star in a comedy pilot called 'Beach Lane.' The show has already been greenlighted, in part because of Broderick's attachment and Lorne Michaels' producing.
Emilio Estevez to visit bro Charlie on Two and a Half Men
by Allison Waldman, posted Nov 8th 2008 12:08PM
When family members appear on each other's TV shows -- if they're a show biz family, of course -- sometimes the results are great. And sometimes they're not. Jerry Van Dyke appeared twice on The Dick Van Dyke Show as Rob's brother Stacey, and he was terrific. (Much better than he was on My Mother The Car).Tyne Daly popped up on Wings, playing scenes with her brother Tim, and again, it worked out great. On the other hand, when Martin Sheen guested on Two and a Half Men in 2005, it was a dud. I don't know, maybe comedy really isn't Martin Sheen's forte.
Fortunately, Charlie Sheen isn't above trying again. Charlie's brother Emilio Estevez is going to do a guest turn on Two and a Half Men in an upcoming episode. They won't be playing brothers, but Emilio will be one of Charlie's best buddies from times gone by.
Psych: Murder? ...Anyone? ...Anyone? ...Bueller?
by Allison Waldman, posted Jul 26th 2008 10:02AM
(S03E02) From the title, it was clear tonight's show was going to relate to Ferris Bueller's Day Off. In fact, in true Shawn and Gus fashion, the entire John Hughes' oeuvre was mined for comic gold, as Gus was hosting the 13th high school reunion -- that's right. Not 10, but 13 years. Ironically, in 1995 there was no John Hughes movie. Never mind, the references were more '80s than '90s anyway, including Milo and Otis, Karla DeVito, and all those Hughes movies.Overall, there was something lacking tonight. The setting came first, Gus and Shawn's class reunion, then the case. It was like Murder She Wrote, where Jessica Fletcher just happens to stumble onto a murder wherever she is.
It seemed an awkward arrangement. The show is better when Shawn and Gus horn in on a Santa Barbara PD case.
