Fran Drescher Talks About Her Sex Life With Ex-Husband Peter Marc Jacobson (VIDEO)

by Stephanie Opella, posted Nov 17th 2011 7:30PM
TV Land's 'Happily Divorced' is Fran Drescher's sitcom inspired by her real-life marriage and divorce from ex-husband and co-producer Peter Marc Jacobson, who is now gay. On 'The Wendy Williams Show,' (weekdays, syndicated on Fox) Fran told Wendy all about it.

"I've been with Peter since I was 15, so it wasn't like I had a wealth of experience," she explained. "And the metrosexual thing was coming into vogue when we were together, and he was an actor so I thought 'that's it.'"

Charles Shaugnessy Reunites With 'Nanny' Fran Drescher on 'Happily Divorced' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 18th 2011 7:48AM
Charles Shaughnessy, 'Happily Divorced'It was a mini-reunion of 'The Nanny' when Mr. Sheffield (Charles Shaughnessy) appeared on the season finale of Fran Drescher's new show 'Happily Divorced' (Wed., 10:30PM ET on TV Land). Now Shaughnessy's an accomplished author, but his attraction to Fran was just as intense.

Only, he appeared to have a similar interest in Peter. It was all very confusing throughout the entire episode, until a classic mix-up led to both Peter and Fran meeting Shaugnessy in his hotel room, where he created a romantic atmosphere and announced that he was both gay and straight.

And apparently into threesomes as well. He must have figured that since Peter and Fran had been intimate with one another during their marriage, they wouldn't mind doing so again, only this time with him as well.

Tichina Arnold Gushes About Her 'Happily Divorced' Role on 'The Talk' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 4th 2011 6:15PM
Tichina Arnold of 'Happily Divorced' on 'The Talk'The title 'Happily Divorced' refers to Fran Drescher's character on the TV Land sitcom, but it would be hard for anyone to sound happier than Tichina Arnold did on 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS), talking about her role on the show.

Arnold has been on some popular and long-running sitcoms, including 'Martin' and 'Everybody Hates Chris.' But she gushed about her 'Divorced' co-stars and seemed truly thankful to land the role of Judi Mann, Drescher's best friend on the show.

"I was so happy when I booked this gig because Fran, of course, is just, she is television," said Arnold. "And she just knows her stuff and she's amazing to work with. And she knows, she's very smart. Really, really smart. So she and I have bonded."

Fran and Judi Compete for Lou Diamond Phillips' Attention on 'Happily Divorced' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 4th 2011 4:15PM
'Happily Divorced'Love can be a competitive, contact sport, especially between friends. So when Fran and Judi spotted a guy they both wanted on Wednesday's 'Happily Divorced' (Wednesdays, 10:30PM on TV Land), they put on the full-court press, taking him away from his friends to talk themselves up.

The man in question was named David, played by Lou Diamond Phillips. Fran and Judi saw him out dancing, and approached him at the same time. Then the negotiations began. David asked Fran what she did for a living, and she said she owned a flower ship. "Yeah, so if you ever want to send me some flowers, she'll give 'em to you half price," said Judi. Fran pointed out they'd be free if David sent them to her.

Fran Sneaks Into the Opera to Spy on Peter on 'Happily Divorced' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 14th 2011 6:21AM
'Happily Divorced' - 'Spousal Support'Just because Fran and Peter are 'Happily Divorced' (Wed., 10:30PM ET on TV Land), doesn't mean they're ready to move on with their lives. Peter hasn't even moved out of the house yet. But this week, when Peter was on the cusp of a huge sale that would have allowed him to not only move out but leave the state, they finally faced the prospect of separating.

Fran panicked, and apparently started sabotaging Peter's chances of making the sale by convincing him the octogenarian client wasn't interested in a house at all. He was only interested in Peter.

She even slipped into the opera the two were at to try and "save" Peter from being physically assaulted by the man. In all honesty, if we'd seen what they saw we'd have probably jumped to the same conclusion they did in that moment.

Fran Drescher Describes Getting Relationship Advice From Her Gay Ex-Husband (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 13th 2011 7:00PM
Fran Drescher and Peter Marc Jacobson on 'Access Hollywood Live'When Fran Drescher and Peter Marc Jacobson divorced in 1999, it was because Jacobson realized he was gay. Now Drescher depends on her ex-husband for relationship advice, as she explained Wednesday on 'Access Hollywood Live' (weekdays, syndicated on NBC). She based her new sitcom, 'Happily Divorced,' on their relationship, and there are times when she really needs his help.

It took a while for Drescher and Jacobson to get comfortable enough to start talking about their new personal lives with each other. But once they did, they became closer than ever. "I was in a relationship for a while that was, you know, very volatile and complicated, and that kind of dimensionalized our relationship on a new level," she said. Drescher could hardly find someone who knows her better to ask for advice.

Drescher's gaydar still hasn't improved much, though. "She went to a bar and she liked this guy," said Jacobson, "and she was, like, flirting with him, and the girl said, you know, 'Stop, he's gay.' She said, 'Oh, okay, well, I have an ex-husband for you...'"

'Happily Divorced': Fran Discovers Unpleasant Secret About Old Boyfriend (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 7th 2011 5:15AM
'Happily Divorced' - 'Spousal Support'It all seemed so perfect when Fran reconnected with an old high school sweetheart, Richard, on 'Happily Divorced' (Wed., 10:30PM ET on TV Land). He not only understood why she was still living with her ex-husband Peter, he helped hook Peter up with a job. More importantly, he was rich. What could go wrong?

It happened when one of Judi's best friends turned out to be his son, and Richard bolted out of there like his shoes were on fire. Turns out he's okay with "those people" if it's Peter or anyone but his son.

"Love isn't conditional," Fran said. "Love is love." Sure the message was a little heavy-handed, but we're in traditional sitcom mode. If this were the '90s, it would have been billed as a "very special episode" of 'Happily Divorced.'

Fran Drescher Tells 'The View' Ladies the True Story Behind 'Happily Divorced' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 14th 2011 2:45PM
Fran Drescher and Peter Jacobson on 'The View'It's your typical American love story: boy meets girl, boy and girl get married, boy helps girl with wardrobe, boy says he's bisexual, boy and girl get divorced, boy says he is gay, boy helps girls with wardrobe and new boyfriend.

That's the story Fran Drescher told Tuesday on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) about herself and her ex-husband, Peter Jacobson. And it's also the premise of her new sitcom, 'Happily Divorced.'

Drescher said on 'The View' that she did not know her husband was gay when they were married, she just thought he was metrosexual, which was trendy at the time. In hindsight, the advice on shoes and clothes may have been a tip-off.

When TVLand came to Drescher asking for ideas for a show, she thought her own story was a natural fit. "That's easy," she remembered saying. "That's got to be the relationship between myself, my gay ex-husband and the advice he gives me on my current boyfriend."

Fran Drescher & Her 'Happily Divorced' Cast On Why They Don't Need Guest Stars

by Chris Harnick, posted Jun 14th 2011 12:30PM
Fran DrescherFran Drescher is back! The star of 'The Nanny' is returning to her roots -- sitcoms -- after giving a tawk talk show a try. But this is no ordinary comedy. Drescher is teaming with ex-husband and 'Nanny' co-creator Peter Marc Jacobson to bring a fictionalized version of their life to audiences.

In the new TV Land sitcom 'Happily Divorced' (premieres Wed., June 15 at 10:30PM ET), Drescher and Jacobson play their real-life situation -- they had a seemingly perfect marriage until Jacobson came out as homosexual -- for laughs. The couple is divorced now, but just as happy as before.

Fran stars as a fictionalized version of herself, with 'Best In Show' star John Michael Higgins as Peter and 'West Side Story' veteran Rita Moreno as Drescher's mother.

At Monday's premiere party for 'Happily Divorced,' Drescher told AOL TV she wasn't hesitant in bringing her personal life to the screen.

"We were already writing a movie," Drescher said. "We always write about what we know anyway, and then it takes on its own life as a creation."

TV Land Renews 'Retired at 35,' Extends 'Hot in Cleveland,' Picks Up Two New Sitcoms

by Joel Keller, posted Mar 21st 2011 5:00PM
'Retired at 35'The other day we revisited the concept of Channel Drift, where cable channels drift away from their original concepts, even while keeping their old names. We didn't mention TV Land, but they're not far away from being considered for that category. They're going from a network that showed classic sitcoms to one that's showing new sitcoms that look and seem classic.

The network has announced that they're picking up a second season of the sitcom 'Retired at 35,' and they've ordered a first season for two new sitcoms: Fran Drescher's 'Happily Divorced' and 'The Exes,' which will star Wayne Knight, David Alan Basche, Donald Faison and Kristen Johnston. They also announced that they've increased their third season order for the hit 'Hot in Cleveland' from 22 to 24 episodes.

The descriptions of the new shows are as high-concept as 'Hot' and 'Retired.' In 'Divorced,' Drescher plays a woman who has to deal with dating again after her long-time husband (John Michael Higgins) says he's gay. It's not-so-loosely based on Drescher's former marriage to Peter Marc Jacobson, who is co-producing the show.

Fran Drescher and Her Ex-Husband Had 'Great Sex' Before He Realized He Was Gay (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jan 28th 2011 7:25PM
Peter MArc Jacobson and Fran Drescher on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show'When Fran Drescher and Peter Marc Jacobson were still married, Jacobson had not yet come to the realization that he was gay. He went back and forth on the question with therapists until the couple divorced in 1999.

Drescher, who now hosts 'The Fran Drescher Tawk Show,' and Jacobson were on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' (weekdays, syndicated) together on Friday, and seemed very comfortable with each other. Oprah asked, "Did you have a healthy sex relationship?" and they both responded positively. Jacobson went so far as to say it was "great sex."

"We always used to think that we must be having better sex than, you know, our friends," said Drescher, "because, I don't know, he's a very sexual man."

Well, that's certainly giving them something to tawk about.

Larry King Always Wanted to be a Comedian: Making People Laugh Is 'Better Than Sex' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Dec 17th 2010 12:35AM
Larry King Always Wanted to be a Comedian: Making People Laugh Is 'Better Than Sex'On 'The Fran Drescher Tawk Show' (weekdays, syndicated on Fox), Fran welcomed Larry King, who's stepping down after 25 years of 'Larry King Live.' While talking with Fran, Larry revealed that what he loves most in the world is making people laugh -- not necessarily a wise thing to say to Fran Drescher, but okay.

Larry said that if he hadn't fallen into the world of TV and radio, he would have become a stand-up comedian. (Which is a dream he still has, by the way.) Mr. King expressed respect for the difficult task of being a stand-up comic. He added that when you step on a stage as a comedian, no one can help you: "There's the audience and there's you -- and they're saying 'Make me laugh.'"
