TV Casting: Blair Underwood Is TV's Next President
Blair Underwood has been elected the next President of the United States -- well, at least by NBC. According to reports, Underwood has joined the cast of 'The Event,' a new drama pilot about a conspiracy to assassinate the President, in which a regular man (Jason Ritter) finds himself caught in the middle. How very '24' of NBC. [Hollywood Reporter]More casting news after the jump.
TV Casting: Freddy Rodriguez, David Strathairn Lead New Pilots
'Six Feet Under' alum Freddy Rodriguez will lead the CBS pilot 'Chaos.' Rodriguez will reportedly play a naive agent who wants to make the world a better place in this drama from director Brett Ratner. Meanwhile, Oscar nominee David Strathairn ('Good Night, and Good Luck') is also headed to the small screen in the ABC pilot 'Matadors.' He'll join the recently cast Zach Gilford ('Friday Night Lights') in the series, about dueling legal families in Chicago. [Hollywood Reporter]More casting news after the jump.
Strangest Six Feet Under couples
The characters on Six Feet Under were fascinating to watch, but they often made horrible romantic choices. Even the couples that stood the test of time had their issues. Most of the truly memorable train wrecks didn't last, though. Here's a look back at some of the show's weirdest relationships.Ruth Fisher and Arthur Martin - Ruth and Arthur's relationship was arguably the most awkward pairing in Six Feet Under history. Apart from the significant age difference, the relationship suffered from a lack of physical intimacy. You can't build a romance on nuzzling and spooning alone; it didn't take long for Ruth to figure that out. Ruth dumped Arthur, and things took a turn for the worse when she suddenly married George Sibley. Arthur showed his jealousy by arguing with George over the origins of the word "formica" and labeling his food. They finally parted ways after the "poo by mail" misunderstanding.

(S03E08) Two words: Jeanne Tripplehorn. Keith's paintball revenge was his finest moment on the show as far as I'm concerned. The Fishers and Diazes played against type and became people of action, if only for a short while. David and Keith settled their differences on the battlefield, Ruth made several uncomfortable moves on Arthur, and Lisa sized up her competition. Petrarch, head lice, and polygamy also came into play.
Ugly Betty: The Kids Are Alright

(S02E17) Wili's moment of triumph arrived, and it was just as glorious as I expected it to be. La Slater is officially back at Mode as Creative Director, and all is right with the Ugly Betty world. This episode was all about couples. Hilda pursued Coach Diaz, Gio pursued Betty, and Marc and Amanda did what they do best--torture Betty. The "Betty Whorez" e-mail was one of those small Mode moments that I haven't seen in a while.

Ugly Betty: Twenty-Four Candles

(S02E14) That look says it all, doesn't it? Betty spent part of her birthday with fellow dreamer Gio, and came home to Henry with a lot on her mind. The reappearance of Charlie reminded us that Henry's baby is coming soon. There's a difficult decision in Betty's future. Who will she choose, Henry or Gio?

Ugly Betty: Odor in the Court

(S02E12) Courtroom drama! Perfume that makes you crazy! Baby-making schemes! This week's Ugly Betty had all the telenovela angles covered. In the grand tradition of fictional court proceedings, Claire's murder trial was over and done with in a couple of days. Don't you love that about TV? There was even time to spare for Gio, Wili, and Christina. Good thing, too, because there's only one episode left. Better get your fill of Suzuki St. Pierre now, folks.

Ugly Betty: Something Wicked This Way Comes

(S02E06) Ugly Betty made it to Broadway this week! Half the cast went to a performance of Wicked, Betty and Henry ended up onstage, and Justin broke out his collection of Playbills. That boy snapped out of his delinquent phase just in time. Wili and Marc busied themselves with wedding arrangements, and Hilda got a surprising new job. The biggest surprise? Gio made another appearance and managed to be less abrasive.
