Jon Stewart Mocks Democrats' Plan to Label Republicans 'Extreme' (VIDEO)
by Jeremy Taylor, posted Apr 6th 2011 5:00AM
Last week, an open mic caught Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer explaining that he had been instructed by his caucus to always use the word "extreme" when referring to Republicans. On 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central), John Stewart played a clip of Schumer's live-mic gaffe, and then followed it up with a clip of the senator actually using the word "extreme" when talking about the GOP in a televised speech.
Stewart was not impressed with either the Democrats' (meant-to-be) secret strategy, or how Schumer applied it. "Democrats are just weak," Stewart argued, after watching the clips, and looking exasperated.
Swingtown: Swingus Interruptus

(S01E09) Okay, we're really into swinging tonight. Everybody seems to get into the action, including the kids. Frankly, the summer of '76 is making everyone in Swingtown hot and horny and just a touch too adventurous. It makes for interesting viewing, but I'm not sure how realistic all this is supposed to be. What is the difference between swinging and cheating?Brad and Sylvia are back. It's yet another dinner party at the Deckers! The writers really have to find other ways to get these people together. Anyway, after Bruce's admission of his overt flirtation with Melinda -- a couple of kisses and a trip to her apartment -- the Millers accept an invitation to the Pendulum Club. That's an erotic cabaret according to Trina, and yes, the Deckers decide to go along at Susan's behest.
Obama's acceptance speech has been supersized

Now that the Democratic party has decided to present the final night of their convention from Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver before as many as 80,000 enthusiastic voters -- a venue that will underscore Senator Barack Obama's skill as a speaker -- the networks are deciding how they want to cover the event. Will the big three give the Democrats the entire night? One hour, two hours? Will ABC and CBS be compelled to cover the night, when NBC and Fox have the option of using their cable outlets and keep entertainment on the broadcast side?

"Mess O' Potamia": Call for a new Secretary of Defense... The administration is looking for someone with fresh eyes and open ears (the picture of the perfect candidate was actually really scary... like, scarier than Rummy, heh). Senior White House Correspondent John Oliver briefly talked about all the ways that Congress may or may not be Bush's bitch. Oliver's attempt to be snippy was absolutely hilarious... I loved hearing "Know what I'm saying?" in his crisp, British accent. Okay, um, yeah. I think I may be falling in love with John Oliver. That is all.The Daily Show: March 9, 2006
