'Family Jewels' fans have long known that Shannon Tweed said "yes" to Gene Simmons' marriage proposal, which featured in the Season 6 finale. Now, just ahead of the Season 7 premiere, comes the news that the rocker and his partner of 28 years finally tied the knot this past weekend.
And yes, the 'Family Jewels' cameras were rolling: The nuptials will feature in an episode to be aired later this month.
Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed Set Their Wedding Date
by Catherine Lawson, posted Sep 2nd 2011 7:30AM
'Family Jewels' fans left hanging by the "will she or won't she?" Season 6 finale need wonder no longer. We watched Gene Simmons propose (finally!) to longtime girlfriend Shannon Tweed back in July and now, instead of settling in for the long engagement some may have expected, the reality TV stars have announced that they're tying the knot next month.
The pair have released a wedding invitation, which reveals that the ceremony will take place on October 1 at The Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles, and that there's a dress code.
"Classy Cocktail Attire Requested ... although we know some Rockstar attire will be worn." (Hey, could that mean that Gene will get hitched in full KISS makeup and boots? We hope so!)
Kathie Lee and Hoda React To Gene Simmons' Proposal (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 28th 2011 12:45PM
Last month, it appeared Gene Simmons' relationship with Shannon Tweed was on the verge of ending when the two sparred over Simmons' infidelities on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC). This week, we saw a much more humble Simmons get down on bended knee, proposing to Tweed on 'Gene Simmons Family Jewels.' Thursday on 'Today,' Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb wondered if the couple's appearance on the show had anything to do with the proposal. They also questioned whether the whole thing had been a set-up to generate ratings for the reality show. "I believe it," said Kotb. "I believe the whole thing." Gifford was suspicious, wondering how the cameras were there to catch the whole thing. Despite the fact that she liked both of them more than she expected, she said, "I don't know what to believe."
Things Are Still Far From Good Between Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 20th 2011 3:35AM
Things are still very tense between Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed. Even though she did stop in to see him on tour, along with their kids, the tension backstage when the two met was palpable on 'Gene Simmons Family Jewels' (Tue., 10PM ET on A&E).Simmons seems unsure of what to do to win her over, but we're not sure he's even fully grasped what he's done to be on the verge of losing her. He may understand on some intellectual level, but at a visceral gut level he doesn't seem to fully comprehend her position.
Tweed was there for him in person, but she was hardly there emotionally, and barely there at all. There were long moments of silence. When Gene asked her to stay and have lunch with him, she was quiet. She did not want to go back to his room with him, but did stay with their daughter.
Gene Simmons Admits He Needs To Grow Up on 'The Talk' (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 20th 2011 5:10PM
Gene Simmons admitted it was time to grow up and avoid the temptations of the rock and roll lifestyle on Monday's episode of 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS). After a week in which his long-running relationship with Shannon Tweed fell apart on national TV, first on 'Today' and then on 'Gene Simmons Family Jewels,' Simmons made a public plea to win Tweed back."For the record," he said, "I love Shannon Tweed. I want to work this out. There's no chance of me ever running out on my kids or Shannon. I will do anything I can to make sure I finally grow up and be a man."
Wayne Brady was also a guest on the show, and said it was a big deal for Simmons to come out and say that publicly, instead of displaying some sort of hyped up bravado. "I applaud you," he said. Time will tell if the man who wrote 'Calling Dr. Love' is willing to call a relationship counselor.
'Gene Simmons Family Jewels': Shannon Walks Out on Gene (VIDEO)
by Mike Moody, posted Jun 15th 2011 1:44AM
It looks like Gene Simmons' wandering eye (and hands and, er, other parts) finally caught up with him on the season premiere of 'Gene Simmons Family Jewels' (Tue., 10PM ET on A&E TV).Simmons' long-time partner Shannon Tweed confronted the KISS rocker after spying an online photograph of him cavorting with a pair of blonde babes while he was supposed to be at a "business meeting."
Tweed wasn't joking when she told TV Guide that Season 6 would "show lots of warts this year." After grilling Simmons about his night out, a tearful Tweed said that she was "sick" of living with Simmons and headed straight for the door.
Kathie Lee and Hoda Rehash Awkward Gene Simmons/Shannon Tweed Interview (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 14th 2011 2:30PM
Monday on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC), Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb conducted an uncomfortable interview with Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed that focused on Simmons' infidelity. Simmons was shown photos of himself with other women, and Tweed said their longtime relationship was unraveling. Perhaps they'll be pioneering a breakup-in-progress reality show on the new season of 'Family Jewels'.Tuesday, Gifford and Kotb read the Twitter responses from both Simmons and Tweed about the appearance. Simmons, not surprisingly, didn't enjoy the interview. "Kathie Lee and Hoda tore into me," he posted. "Shannon is the angel. I'm the devil." Tweed, however, enjoyed herself, asking via Twitter for a couch full of single guys for her next appearance.
Gifford said she had thought they both knew what they were getting into when they started their relationship, one between a rock star and Playboy model. "I think both of them were not children when they got together," she said. "I think both of them went in with their eyes wide open."
Six Reality TV Stars Who've Gone the Distance
by Jane Boursaw, posted Apr 28th 2010 12:01AM
Think about reality TV, and what usually springs to mind is a bunch of youngsters living in homes together, performing on talent shows, or trying to get their careers rolling -- sometimes all at the same time. But let's not forget the elder statespeople who already had a stunning career behind them, only to come back into the public eye by participating in a reality show. Perhaps these celebrity veterans helped to pave the way for 'Sunset Daze,' a new show premiering April 28 at 10PM ET on WE tv that follows a group of people at a retirement community in Arizona's Sun City.
Lest you think it's all pudding and painkillers, rest assured there will be sex! Guns! Skydiving! And motorcycles!
Angry Band Member on 'Gene Simmons Family Jewels' (VIDEO)

On last night's 'Family Jewels' (Sun., 9:30PM ET on A&E), Gene Simmons and the rest of KISS were in New Orleans to perform at the annual Voo Doo Fest. While backstage, Simmons was introduced to a fellow rocker, and the conversation was civil at first. "I'm Jonathan Bell from the Love Rhinos. We're the band that got bumped because you decided to play the Fest."Watch the video after the jump.
Gene's Mother Visits KISS Backstage on 'Gene Simmons Family Jewels' (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Apr 5th 2010 8:00AM
Is watching Gene Simmons' tiny mom reminisce with her son while he's in full KISS attire cute or completely bizarre? It could go either way on 'Gene Simmons Family Jewels' (Sun., 9PM ET on AETV).Gene's partner/baby-momma Shannon Tweed thinks it's cute, like when mother Flora hugs the Demon bassist and says, "You're my darling son, God bless you." But not so sweet when Flora then casually mentions all the bras and panties women throw at Gene in concerts.
Later Flora's grandkids Nick and Sophie have their own take on Grandma as she "rocks out" to her son's music.

Gene Simmons Shows Off His Tongue on 'Jimmy Fallon' (VIDEO)
by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 19th 2010 6:08AM
Gene Simmons stopped by 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on NBC), and we learned way more about his freakishly long tongue than we really need to know. For example, it took him a while to figure out what to do with it. Also, it gets musty in there, so he has to air it out. Did we really need to see it, though, Gene? Really? It just confirms what we've known all along – that you're descended from lizards.

Gene Simmons Talks 'Family Jewels' and 'American Idol' Alum Adam Lambert

While Gene Simmons may be best known as the long-tongued bassist from Kiss, he's slowly but surely proving he also has a knack for reality TV, as 'Gene Simmons Family Jewels' sails into its fourth season Sundays at 9 p.m. on A&E.The show gives fans and voyeurs a peek behind the makeup into the rock icon's family life with longtime girlfriend Shannon Tweed, son Nick, daughter Sophie and dog Snippy.

Gene Simmons to judge Jingles
by Allison Waldman, posted Jul 17th 2008 12:26PM
I've always enjoyed jingles, you know, those catchy commercial tunes that get in your head and never leave. "Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun." See, after all these years, it's still there. I wonder if Gene Simmons would have liked that McDonald's jingle? We'll soon find out what the Kiss star likes in musical commercial craftsmanship because Gene Simmons has been tapped as one of the judges on the CBS reality show Jingles. It's a competition show, from producer Mark Burnett, he of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader, Survivor and The Apprentice fame. We'll just forget about the ones that didn't fly, like On the Lot (that was painful to watch), Pirate Master (unwatchable) and Rock Star: INXS (truly a train wreck).
Jingles should be pretty challenging for contestants; it's hard to fake it when it comes to writing words and lyrics. The winner gets a contract with an advertising agency and $100,000.
The Reality Shows Have Writers!? Award: Winner - VIDEO
by Jay Black, posted Jun 6th 2008 11:59PM
Like a lot of my TV Squad assignments, I went into this one under the belief that it would be a hoot. I figured that unreal reality shows would have a high camp value and I could enjoy them the same way that I enjoy The Last Dragon. Here's what I learned: Gene Simmons... Bruce Leroy you are not. The next time I refer to something as a potential "hoot", I've given my wife permission to beat me unconscious with a shovel. A severe beating would be less painful than watching another minute of our nominee shows.
That said, I did enjoy the process of figuring out which show would "win" this award. After careful consideration of the words of my wizened TV Squad colleagues and the input of our enlightened readership, we have finally found our winner.
The Reality Shows Have Writers!? Award Nominees
by Jay Black, posted May 30th 2008 10:02AM
There's a bit by Patton Oswalt on his brain-meltingly good comedy album Feeling Kind of Patton regarding reality television. The short version: if we keep making reality shows, we will eventually run out of reality to film. (Believe me, the short version isn't even in the ballpark of how funny the bit is; go buy this album immediately). Like Arthur C. Clarke's predictions of geostationary satellites and floating man-god fetuses, Oswalt's vision of a reality-free future is eerily accurate. While our physical space hasn't quite been eaten by a giant white wave yet, the signs of reality's destruction are as obvious as the motivations behind Tila Tequila's bisexuality. Most glaring? The very words "reality television" connote an unreal experience.
After careful consideration, we at TV Squad, along with your input, have winnowed down the hundreds of possible candidates for "most unreal reality show" to these five...
