Glenn Beck Tears Up In 'Today' Interview With Kathie Lee (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 26th 2011 1:30PM
Glenn Beck left Fox News in June after a bombastic, controversial and highly-rated run in which he leveled relentless and often hysterical criticism at the Obama administration. No longer on the Fox airwaves after advertisers began to drop his show, Beck has moved on to his own media venture, a streaming network called GBTV. He's also got a new novel out called the 'The Snow Angel,' which touches on themes of childhood abuse.

In a fairly surreal meeting of the minds, Beck sat down for a 'Today' (weekdays, 9AM ET on NBC) interview with Kathie Lee Gifford, and it didn't take long for him to tear up. Talking about his childhood, he said, "When you live in an alcoholic family or an abusive family, you tiptoe, you don't want to step on any mines," he said, fighting through tears. "Now the 'Today Show' is going to make fun of me again," he continued.

Glenn Beck Says Goodbye To Fox News (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 30th 2011 9:30PM
A clip from the retrospective on the last broadcast of the 'Glenn Beck Show' on FOX NewsGlenn Beck said goodbye to his audience and looked back on his tumultuous tenure at Fox News on Thursday, the last episode of the 'Glenn Beck Show' (weekdays, 5PM on Fox News). Of course, there was the requisite career retrospective full of clips from his time on the network, starting with his first show January 19, 2009. Media Matters had released their own highlight reel of Beck's most outrageous statements earlier in the day, but Beck's focused on the good times.

"This is only the third time that I've actually done live TV, so buckle up 'cuz it could get very, very bumpy," he said on that first broadcast. The mostly goofy clips that followed confirmed that, as Beck struggled to find the correct camera to address and pieces of his backdrop fell behind him, interrupting a rant about out of control government.

Lewis Black Takes on Glenn Beck (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted May 13th 2010 3:35AM
Lewis Black Takes on Glenn BeckFox News personality Glenn Beck is apparently fairly angry. He's mad that some people have been comparing the new Arizona anti-immigration bill to laws that were passed in Nazi Germany. On 'The Daily Show' (weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central), comedian Lewis Black takes issue with Beck's anger. Black points out that Glenn Beck makes a lot of comparisons to Nazis himself.

The comic shows a video montage in which Beck compares the following things to Hitler or the Nazis -- Al Gore, the Peace Corps, warnings about global warming, a speech by President Obama, and so on. Black accuses Glenn Back of having "Nazi Tourette's." That is, he accuses him of just blurting out the word "Nazi" at odd times.

Black then offers some advice to Beck, saying that if he's so afraid of Nazis, he should just go hide in an attic -- and not make any sound. Zing!

Who do you think is right in this debate? Lewis Black or Glenn Beck?

Fox News Anchor Confuses Chris Wallace With Chris Matthews (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Apr 9th 2010 4:00PM
During a newsbreak on 'Glenn Beck' (weekdays, 5PM ET on FNC), Fox News anchor Patti Ann Browne, formerly of MSNBC, confuses Chris Wallace with Chris Matthews, the host of MSNBC's 'Hardball.' Oops.

To his credit, Wallace doesn't point out Browne's mistake. Instead, he blinks in surprise, laughs slightly, then gamely proceeds with a tease for a special report.

Glenn Beck Made $32 Million in Past Year, But Not Much from Fox

by Brad Trechak, posted Apr 8th 2010 3:32PM
Glenn BeckForbes has an interesting article about the sources of Glenn Beck's income. Interestingly, only $2 million of his $32 million annual salary comes from his Fox News show where he gets most of his publicity. The majority of the money comes from his radio and publishing empire. It could be said that Fox News is the platform from which he hawks the rest of his wares.

But as Master Yogurt said, merchandising is where the real money from the movie comes from. Pretty soon I'm sure we'll be seeing the Glenn Beck action figure, the Glenn Beck cookbook, the Glenn Beck barbecue grill and the Glenn Beck video game for the Wii which will come with its own interactive chalkboard.

However, to put things in perspective: no matter how much the man makes from his media empire, Glenn Beck will still make a lot less in annual income than Oprah.

Joy Behar Doesn't Hate Glenn Beck -- Sort Of (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Mar 31st 2010 7:53AM
Joy Behar Talks Glenn Beck on 'Tonight Show'Since conservative pundit Glenn Beck talks about Joy Behar on his talk show, it was reasonable for Jay Leno to get her talking about him. On the 'Tonight Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC), he asked 'The View' co-host what she thought of him.

"Yeah, he talks about me. I'm on his list of 'I hate Glenn Beck' [people]," explained Joy. But she said it didn't bother her, and she'd invite him on to 'The View' -- well, after he'd been "neutered."

Then, speaking into the camera, she had a personal message for Glenn Beck, revealing she sincerely doesn't hate him... but using some choice words in the process.

Glenn Beck Explains His 'Antichrist' Comment, We Explain the Rest of It

by Danny Gallagher, posted Mar 26th 2010 1:04PM
One of the weirder entertainment feuds, one even weirder than the famed Nipsey Russell-Herve Villechaize knife fight of 1976, has emerged in our midst.

A few days ago, Oscar winning director James Cameron got extra chatty with a Hollywood Reporter, er, reporter and let loose on anti-global warming zealots and Glenn Beck (and no, that last sentence wasn't meant to be redundant). It got so heated and ridiculous that it made me wish 'Celebrity Deathmatch' was still on the air and not in the claymation format.

Beck, of course, heard the comment in which Cameron claimed Beck had once referred to him as the "Antichrist". Beck dove into his archives, found the rather un-Christian reference he made towards the 'Avatar' director and post a full response to Mr. Cameron on his Wednesday show.

Of course, that's not the whole story.

Glenn Beck Feuds With James Cameron (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Mar 25th 2010 3:37PM
Glenn Beck Feuds with James Cameron'Avatar' director James Cameron is currently in a war of words with Glenn Beck, the controversial Fox News pundit. The feud gets a little complicated, but we'll break it down for you.

Three years ago, Beck called Cameron "the Antichrist" for making 'Titanic.' (Apparently, Beck is not a big fan of the film, or of the Celine Dion song that accompanied it.) Cameron recently heard about the remark and replied by calling Beck -- and we quote -- "A f--king a--hole."

Now, on 'The Glenn Beck Program' (weekdays, 5PM ET on FNC), Beck strikes back. While wearing 3D glasses, he mocked Cameron and 'Avatar,' saying that Cameron made a billion dollars off of a "Smurf-murdering movie,' and adding: "It's time to step away from the CGI, just for a minute, Jim."

Considering that Glenn Beck is involved, we're guessing that this feud is only just starting to heat up. Watch the entire clip to get the full story!

James Cameron Doesn't Think Much of Fox News' Glenn Beck

by Danny Gallagher, posted Mar 24th 2010 7:32PM
Glenn BeckActually, that's putting it mildly. James Cameron probably has a higher opinion of mosquito bites because as Ned Flanders once put it, "They sure are fun to scratch."

Cameron had a sit down with Hollywood Reporter reporter Alex Ben Block for the DVD release of his Oscar nominated film 'Avatar' and the two somehow got to talking about global warming and the pandemic of people on both sides of the aisles.

This segued into that all-important political topic of Glenn Beck, prompting Cameron to call him a "[BLANK]ing [BLANK]hole," only he didn't say "blank." Use your imagination.

Jon Stewart Impersonates Glenn Beck (VIDEO)

by Chris Harnick, posted Mar 19th 2010 3:20PM
The Daily ShowJon Stewart did his best Glenn Beck impersonation on last night's episode of 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.'

In the clip, Stewart mocks the conservative pundit's lively persona with a hilarious breakdown of the term "conservative libertarian," which sheds some interesting light on Bert from 'Sesame Street,' among other things.

But don't take our word for it. Watch the clip after the jump.

TV 101: How Keith Olbermann And Glenn Beck Eat Your Soul

by Jay Black, posted Mar 3rd 2010 2:02PM
Are these the two most evil people in America? Trick question: they aren't human!America, we need to talk.

There was a time when you were my favorite country in the world. Sure, you invented the Snuggie and insisted on airing multiple shows about making cakes for some reason, but you were always pretty stable. Well, that's changed and I think I know why.

You're addicted, America. You're addicted to something more insidious than nicotine or cocaine or Pokémon: you're addicted to Opinion Based News Shows.

Don't deny it! I've seen the signs! What started as an innocent attempt to have more talking points at parties has begun to rage out of control. Sometimes it seems you can't even make a move without a little taste of Keith or Glenn just to get you "right".

Well, I'm not going to watch my friend go down without a fight. This is your wake-up call America. This is your intervention.

Oprah Named Favorite TV Personality; Glenn Beck Is No. 2

by Harley W. Lond, posted Jan 25th 2010 8:01PM
Characters Welcome.

That's not just the slogan for the USA Network but an apt description of TV as a whole -- character and personality driven. And to drive that point home again -- lest we forget it in this era of reality TV (which, admittedly, is also character/ personality driven -- what would 'Jersey Shore' be without Snooki and The Situation?), the folks at Harris Interactive have released the results of their latest poll listing the top TV personalities for 2009.

TV Moment of 2009: The Rise of Glenn Beck

by Gary Susman, posted Dec 17th 2009 2:30PM
At the dawn of 2009, Glenn Beck was a popular talk radio host with a failed primetime TV show on Headline News. By the end of the year, he was the leader of a political movement. Somewhere in between, he became the biggest star on Fox News, a thorn in the side of the Obama administration, the de facto news agenda-setter for the New York Times and the Washington Post, and a media personality who -- whether you loved or hated him (and there was no middle ground) -- would not, could not be ignored.

The Twelve Days of Festivus: Nine on-air breakdowns

by Danny Gallagher, posted Dec 15th 2009 11:00AM
Glenn BeckOn the ninth day of Festivus, TV gave to me... nine on-air breakdowns.

Director Alfred Hitchcock once said, "Television has done much for psychiatry by spreading information about it, as well as contributing to the need for it."

Yes, having a camera stuck in your face for an hour or more a day must take a toll on your sanity. Your privacy is virtually limited. Your every move is scrutinized and criticized by faceless meanies. Your therapist is one session away from owning his own fishing trawler.

It's only a matter of time before the grasp of sanity is clipped away like a loose thread on a homemade snowman sweater and you turn into a blubbering, snotty, incoherent mess for all the world to enjoy. These are the personalities who lost it and may or may not have gained whatever "it" is back.
