Gloria Estefan to Play Santana's Mom on 'Glee'?
by Catherine Lawson, posted Dec 1st 2011 6:45AM
Gloria Estefan is in talks to play Santana's mom on 'Glee.' How perfect a piece of casting would that be?! According to 'Entertainment Weekly,' Estefan will appear in the same January episode as Ricky Martin, who's reportedly playing McKinley High's Spanish teacher.Martin is slated to headline two musical numbers in the episode, which will also feature Estefan's music and some other bilingual tunes. A source told 'EW' that the entire cast is "really really big fans of hers and we love her music and her husband's music."
This week on 'Glee' Santana came out of the closet only for her grandmother to disown her. However, Santana told her classmates that her (as yet unseen) parents were supportive of her coming out. So now the question is, if Glora Estefan is Santana's mom, then who's her dad?
Gloria Estefan Brings Flan and a Very Unique Table to 'The Rosie Show' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 12th 2011 1:30AM
Gloria Estefan stopped by 'The Rosie Show' (Weeknights, 7PM ET on OWN) with a special treat for Rosie O'Donnell. It was both a treat and a challenge. As much as Rosie admitted to loving the Cuban food available at Estefan's restaurants, that appreciation only goes so far."They have horrible, disgusting mucus-y flan," she said of the dessert. She clarified, though, that this was her opinion of flan in general.
So, to prove to O'Donnell that her flan was "just fine," Estefan brought a sample with her, served on the back of the man who runs Estefan's company. Even if she didn't like the flan, at least she could cite a one-in-a-million dining experience.
Gloria Estefan Saw Some Wild Things as a Police Interpreter (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 7th 2011 4:41AM
Before she made it big with the Miami Sound Machine, a teenaged Gloria Estefan worked as an interpreter for the police. As such, she was on-hand to witness some pretty bizarre things. She shared a few of the more memorable things she saw on 'Chelsea Lately' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on E!)."I saw an old lady that looked she was 90 with lots of kilos of cocaine hidden in a hair dryer," she said. But the most interesting thing was something you couldn't even dream up.
"The topper was a nun that was trying to smuggle a salami in a rope in between her legs under her habit," she said. Chelsea Handler, understandably, had no response to this description. All she could do was laugh.
Roller Derby Wife on 'The Marriage Ref' (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Apr 23rd 2010 6:13AM
On last night's 'The Marriage Ref' (Thu., 10PM ET on NBC), judges Donald Trump, Gloria Estefan and Adam Carolla debated whether a roller derby wife should quit the team based on her husband's concern for her health and safety. Carolla took the opportunity to make a gibe at The Donald.Watch the video after the jump.
American Idol: Idol Gives Back 2008

(S07E29) Well, this is what you've all been waiting for, right? What's that? Finale? Yeah, I guess that'll be cool, too. But if you've listened to Ryan all season then you know TONIGHT is really what it's all about! If you're looking to find out who got eliminated by vote last night you're going to have to wait until tomorrow. But if you're looking for two-and-a-half hours of entertainment chock full of celebrities and song and charity, then you're looking for "Idol Gives Back." Last year's inaugural edition was very good, and Kristin's report of the Idol Gives Back taping from this past Sunday was also very positive. We don't have any pesky (non) eliminations to deal with like last year, so just kick back, donate and enjoy. And, if you want, join us online and chat about it in real-time with other giving Idol fans.
You can join the chat starting just before 7:30/6:30pm CDT by following this link. Look for the full episode review right here later tonight.
My visit to Idol Gives Back
by Kristin Sample, posted Apr 7th 2008 6:00AM
Last night I went to a taping of the second installment of Idol Gives Back at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. This year the charities that benefited were Malaria No More, Children's Defense Fund, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, Children's Health Fund, and Save the Children. Keep in mind, there will be spoilers. It's not like I found out the secret to Lost, but I figured I would still give fair warning. The show will air on Wednesday April 9th at 7:30 pm ET / PT. For what happened at the taping and in the press room, read on after the jump. And check back for Jason's review Wednesday night.
