Kris Humphries Sits Down for Awkward 'GMA' Interview (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Dec 9th 2011 2:20PM
There have been so many uncomfortable chapters in the televised romance, marriage and subsequent divorce between Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian. But the NBA forward's interview with 'Good Morning America,' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) may be remembered as one of the most cringe-worthy. In a sit-down interview with Josh Elliot, Humphries seemed visibly uncomfortable answering questions about the experience of watching his relationship disintegrate on national TV, and tried to parry nearly every question back to his charitable foundation and NBA free agency.

Asked whether the omnipresent reality TV cameras were partly to blame for his marriage falling apart, Humphries acknowledged the constant tabloid scrutiny took a toll. "I can't say for sure or not for sure, it was the only time I've been married ... I've been in the NBA since I was 19 years old, and it's a different level, but for me it's all about moving forward and being excited about the opportunity to give back through my foundation," he said.

Bill Maher Hopes the Republicans Won't Do Anything Silly While His Show's on Hiatus (VIDEO)

by Stephanie Opella, posted Nov 14th 2011 5:30PM
Friday night's episode of 'Real Time With Bill Maher' was the last show of its fall season, and coincided perfectly with Rick Perry's "Oops!" debate gaffe and the Herman Cain sexual harassment scandal. Maher went on 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM ET on ABC) to dish on the Republican field, and voiced his hope that the candidates would refrain from doing embarrassing things until his show returns in January.

The first thing George Stephanopoulos asked about was the $1 million to $1 bet Maher made with Michelle Caruso Cabrera that Herman Cain wouldn't end up as the 2012 Republican nominee. Maher defended his bet by noting, "This is a guy who's wearing a pimp hat through a ... sex scandal," and also brought up the fact that Cain's 9-9-9 tax plan was written by "his branch manager at Wells Fargo." When Stephanopoulos reminded Maher that Cain is still leading, Maher responded, "That's just because they hate Mitt Romney," and Stephanopoulos couldn't help but agree with his assessment.

Kris Jenner on Kim Returning the Ring: 'I Hate an Indian Giver' (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 3rd 2011 1:15PM
Kris Jenner's damage control tour veered off course Thursday on 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM ET on ABC) when she cavalierly advised Kim to keep the million-dollar ring Kris Humphries gave her. Previously, Kris had been saying all the right things, insisting that wedding gifts would be donated to charity and that the family didn't profit from the reality TV spectacle.

But she appeared to step in it on 'GMA,' when, responding to a rash of stories reporting that spurned-husband Kris would like the ring back, Jenner said, "Well, I hate an Indian giver. Don't you? I mean, it's a gift. Keep your gift," she said, laughing. We'll see how the comment resonates, but it seemed to strike a callous and possibly offensive tone.

'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' Starts Work in Joplin, Missouri

by Catherine Lawson, posted Oct 20th 2011 6:45AM
'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' busJoplin, Missouri hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons back in May when it was ravaged by a giant tornado that killed 162 people and destroyed an estimated 2,000 buildings.

As survivors reeled from the catastrophe they got some good news from the 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' gang, who announced they would help rebuild homes for some of those dispossessed by the tragedy.

In what producers say is one of the largest projects ever undertaken by the reality show, 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' started work Wednesday on the ambitious plan to build seven houses in seven days.

'Good Morning America' host Sam Champion was on hand to reveal the names of the deserving families -- some of whom lost children in the disaster -- who will benefit from the new homes. 'GMA' will be reporting on progress throughout the week leading up to Ty Pennington's "Move the bus!" on Oct. 26.

Oxygen Ready to Cancel 'The World According to Paris'?

by Alex Moaba, posted Aug 24th 2011 2:10PM
Paris Hilton is used to things going her way, but 'The World According to Paris' may just be going away.

According to a report in Vulture, Oxygen plans to cancel the poorly-rated reality show after its first season.

The hotel heiress's show struggled to gain an audience from the get-go, averaging just 400,000 viewers per week. Perhaps a sign of trying economic times, the hijinks of a billionaire glamor-queen just didn't have the same mass-appeal as they once did.

Hilton generated headlines recently for reasons that were related to the show's failure. She abruptly walked out of an interview with 'Good Morning America's' Dan Harris after he asked if she was worried about the show's ratings, or that her cultural relevance may be fading. After walking out, Hilton returned to finish the interview.

Kris Jenner talks about her 'momager' role with the Kardashians on 'Good Morning America'Keeping up with the Kardashians is a full-time job for their "momager" Kris Jenner. Jenner was on 'Good Morning America' (Weekdays, 7AM on ABC) Tuesday discussing her role as part mom, part manager, to the Kardashian girls. She not only has to mediate infighting between her daughters, but also has to deal with gripes directed her way if one or more of the kids thinks she's being treated unfairly.

One of the clips from the segment showed Kris announcing she had secured a perfume deal for Kim. That miffed Khloe. "You get Kim her own deal first, and then it's the three of us?" she said. "I will sue the [poop] out of you." Kris asked her, "Are you insane?"

'GMA' Presents the Week in Viral Animal Cuteness, Starring a Shark-Biting Dog and Baby Giraffe Named Hope (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 22nd 2011 2:40PM
A baby giraffe on 'Good Morning America'Lara Spencer delivered an animal-centric version of Pop News Friday on 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM on ABC), covering stories about dogs attacking a shark and a giraffe born with backwards feet.

The first story is based on a YouTube clip from Australia where a couple of dogs attempt to herd sharks in shallow water. One of the dogs didn't like what he saw and bit one of the sharks. "Happy to report the dog was fine, the shark swam away intact, perhaps his ego a little bruised," said Spencer.

The second story was about a giraffe named Hope in the Topeka Zoo in Kansas born with hyperextended fetlocks, which means that it's back feet were folded back and pointed the wrong way. "With the help of the veterinarians there, she defied the odds," Spencer said. "She will live a long, long life." The giraffe was fitted with special wrapped shoes and was up and walking like a champ.

Former 'Goddess' Bree Olson Thinks Charlie Sheen Is Just a Bored, Funny Guy (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 21st 2011 2:00PM
Bree Olson (right) with Charlie Sheen, whom she described as a bored, normal guy on 'Good Morning America'There have been many theories to explain the Charlie Sheen train wreck: most centered on drug use or psychological problems. Thursday on 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM on ABC), one of Sheen's former "goddesses," Bree Olson, said he was just a bored guy who liked to tell jokes and say strange things for stress relief.

What about those interviews in which Sheen claimed to be on a drug called Charlie Sheen? "He would still talk the truth of stuff but at the same time he was just cracking so many jokes because he was just bored," said Olson. "People that don't know him, they just don't get it." Or the podcasts, where Sheen seemed even more out of touch with reality? "Maybe that was his way of venting or getting stress out," said Olson. "Stress relief. Because I was with him almost every time of the day and he seemed perfectly kosher and fine to me."

Harris then asked if Hilton ever worries that her moment may have passed, which flustered the heiress. As Hilton looked off-camera to her publicist, Harris said, "You wanna wrap up?" and Hilton walked off. At the end of the hub-bub, we hear Hilton saying, "I don't want all of this being used." She apparently did not get her wish.

'GMA' Reports on Marc Anthony-Jennifer Lopez Split (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 18th 2011 2:00PM
Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez on 'Good Morning America'Judging by their recent public appearances, Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez seemed to have a happy, healthy marriage. They performed together on the season finale of 'American Idol,' which ended with a passionate kiss. Three weeks ago, Anthony was on 'The Talk' waxing romantic about the first time he met J-Lo, and talking about being "all in" for the marriage. So it came as something of a shock when they announced Friday that they were divorcing after seven years of marriage, which 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM on ABC) reported Monday.

'GMA' quoted the couple's statement to the press Friday, which said, "We have decided to end our marriage. This was a difficult decision." The report also mentioned Lopez's banner year, including her job judging 'American Idol,' People magazine naming her the "World's Most Beautiful Woman," and her new single 'On the Floor.'

'GMA' also mentioned that Lopez has had several high-profile relationships, and was married twice previous to her marriage to Anthony. The report also mentioned the cliché "Seven Year Itch," which seemed like a reach for an explanation.

Brad Paisley Performs for Four-Year-Old Fan on 'GMA' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 15th 2011 12:45PM
Brad Paisley performs 'Nobody's Fool' from the 'Cars 2' soundtrack on 'Good Morning America'With two songs on the 'Cars 2' soundtrack, Brad Paisley could be opening up a whole new, younger audience for himself. That was certainly the case Friday morning on 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM on ABC), when Paisley performed his song 'Nobody's Fool' for a crowd that included a four-year-old lifelong fan.

Anchor Robin Roberts was interviewing Paisley, who was named CMA Entertainer of the Year and will co-host the awards with Carrie Underwood in November, and asked him what his favorite song to perform was. "Anything new that's a hit, anything that's brand new, because you haven't worn it out and you're still experimenting with it," said Paisley, noting he was learning in front of the fans.

Roberts pointed to the boy in the crowd, who was hoisted on his father's shoulders, and suggested Paisley use him as inspiration. The father said it was his son's fourth birthday, and that Paisley had been his favorite "ever since he was two" years old. "His whole life," Paisley said. It doesn't get too much more brand new than that.

'GMA' Examines New Trend, 'Owling' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 15th 2011 12:30PM
Owling on 'Good Morning America'Planking is officially so last week. The kids are no longer laying themselves flat, taking pictures of themselves in public places and posting them on the internet, according to 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM on ABC). Now they're squatting with their arms at their sides, taking pictures of themselves in public places, and posting them on the internet. The practice is imaginatively called "Owling."

"I really think there are a lot of things everybody could be doing," said Josh Elliott. "Apparently it's sweeping the nation, and the studio here today." The camera then cut to different crew members and cameramen squatting in places slightly higher than where they would normally sit. Crazy stuff.

So what's the next noun plus gerund to become a big trend? Let's start it right here, people. How about "Standing?" Take pictures of yourself in a normal vertical stance at the post office, in the park, or even, if you're really nuts, at your office. Get posting. These trends don't start themselves.
