New Miss America Teresa Scanlan Explains Why She Thinks Beauty Pageants Are Still Relevant (VIDEO)
by Jeremy Taylor, posted Jan 18th 2011 9:10AM
At seventeen-years-old, Teresa Scanlan is the youngest Miss America winner since 1921.After taking the tiara Sunday , she stopped by 'Fox & Friends' (weekdays, 6 AM ET on Fox News), where co-host and former Miss America Gretchen Carlson asked Scanlan how she was going to react when people questioned the relevance of beauty pageants in "today's society", which apparently happened to Carlson a lot during her reign in 1989.
"(Miss America) focuses on idealism and that is something I think America has moved away from. We are so about being realistic, that we feel that is opposite of being idealistic. I think it's important we still have those ideals, the American ideal of having a good example, a role model other kids can look up to that we really don't find anymore," Scanlan said.
We're not quite sure how much sense that makes, but, then again, we didn't always make a whole of sense when we were seventeen either.
Strippers Protest a Church in Ohio on the 'O'Reilly Factor' (VIDEO)
by Jeremy Taylor, posted Sep 2nd 2010 10:50AM
Wednesday on 'The O'Reilly Factor', Bill O'Reilly did a segment on a group of strippers in Warsaw, Ohio. The ladies were frustrated that a fundamentalist church in the area was taking down the license plate numbers of the strip club's patrons, so they began picketing the church, while wearing semi-provocative clothing."If you give us a hard time, we're going to come over there give you a hard time," was how O'Reilly characterized the showdown.
Panelists Gretchen Carlson and Tamara Holder both argued the strippers were well within their rights to protest, and the church should back off.
What You Missed Last Night: Jon Stewart vs. Gretchen Carlson
by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 9th 2009 3:32PM
Whatever your political persuasion, this is pretty funny. Jon Stewart first notices that a poll on FOX doesn't quite, well, add up, and then he notices a pattern in the way host Gretchen Carlson acts. She's smart, but is she playing dumb?
Fox & Friends call shenanigans on Obama...for his beer choice?!?
by Danny Gallagher, posted Aug 2nd 2009 10:01AM
Morning news shows are a goldmine of cringe-inducing moments and epic fail goodness. The title alone makes me laugh because only half of it is accurate due to the fact that it airs in the morning. By far the unintentionally funniest show is that morning cup of crazy on Fox News, Fox and Friends. They truly cover news stories that no one else does as their on-air promos suggest because no one in their right mind would consider it news. I'm finally starting to understand Walter Cronkite's distrust of the 24-hour news network model: you'll call anything news to fill time.
Hosts Steve Doocy, Gretchen Carlson and Brian Kilmeade actually took President Barack Obama to task for ordering a Budweiser instead of an American-brewed beer during his recent "Beer Summit" with Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and Sgt. James Crowley.
