HBO's Wide Awake documentary airs tonight

by Bob Sassone, posted May 23rd 2007 4:31PM
Wide Awake logoI've had true insomnia only a few times in my life. Not a "I'm not in the mood to sleep even though I'm tired so I'll watch Conan" situation, but a real, horrifying feeling that I want to get to sleep and just can't. It's not a great scenario.

Tonight, HBO premieres the new documentary Wide Awake. It's one man's quest to find out what is causing his insomnia. He visits doctors, explains to viewers what it feels like to not be able to get to sleep, and works late at night in hopes of getting to sleep. It's part documentary, part performance art, and it sounds quite interesting.

It's on at 8pm, which sounds like an odd time for an insomnia movie to air, but it actually premiered early yesterday morning at 1:30am, for you insomniacs. It airs again later tonight at 11pm on HBOP and airs several more times the next few weeks.
