Ellen DeGeneres teamed with HGTV for a crossover event on 'HGTV'd' (Mon, 10PM ET on HGTV). She received a request for tickets to her show from a military family, but decided to up the ante for them. She teamed with David Bromstad and the 'HGTV'd' crew to surprise the family with a $100,000 makeover for their backyard.

Bromstad did an amazing job, creating an oasis for the family when husband Ryan is at home, and a great place for Krystal to relax when her husband is deployed overseas.

But the team didn't stop there. They went inside the house and gave the living room and bedroom a makeover as well, with all new furniture and carpeting, and even new artwork for the wall. It was a way for DeGeneres to thank Ryan for his service, and it was all the couple could do to pick their jaws off the ground and thank everyone.

We've seen a lot of dramatic living space transformations on HGTV over the years, but the network's star designers and crew really deserve some special recognition for what they pulled off on this week's 'HGTV'd' (Mon., 9PM ET on HGTV).

Tasked with transforming a bland and unused living/dining area into something inspiring for the large but struggling Mars family, designer Sabrina Soto created a completely modern multi-purpose room where the 12 family members could meet for food, coffee, and fun.
