Robert Pattinson Tells 'Kimmel' He Loved the MC Hammer Cartoon as a Kid (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 21st 2011 4:02AM
Robert Pattinson, 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'Robert Pattinson loved American cartoons as a kid. And he has a very specific one he remembers fondly. 'Hammerman,' starring MC Hammer, ran on ABC for only 13 episodes. But it must have resonated with a young Pattinson, as he was still talking about it on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC).

Kimmel had heard about this in advance. Through surely one of the strangest acts of fate in history, he revealed, "Somebody who works here at the show happens to have an original animation cel from the Hammer cartoon, which we have now stolen off the wall of his office."

The cel was given to Pattinson, who declared it "the best thing I've ever got on any show."

MC Hammer: The TV Squad Interview

by Danny Gallagher, posted Jun 4th 2009 3:01PM
MC HammerI am the worst person anyone could ever choose to conduct an interview with MC Hammer. A Transylvanian hermit who only knows how to operate an 8-track player would be a step up from me.

I didn't listen to his music growing up as a child of the 80s, except for the occasional sound waves that wafted passed my ears as my cooler classmates blared it from the stereos in their rooms. I've never even interviewed anyone in the hip-hop community.

I've done the research. I studied the first two episodes of his new A&E reality series Hammertime, premiering next Sunday at 10 PM Eastern. I've read up on his days as a batboy with the Oakland A's where Reggie Jackson first gave him the nickname "Hammer' after "Hammerin'" Hank Aaron. I found out from my old man who hates it when I call him my old man that Hammer was even in the Navy. Holy crap. My Dad, the whitest man I know, knows more about MC Hammer than I do.

Like most ex-celebs, M.C. Hammer gets his own reality TV show

by Brad Trechak, posted Feb 18th 2009 9:29AM
M.C. HammerJoining the long list of former celebrities who have gotten a second life as a result of television reality programming, M.C. Hammer will be getting his own series on the A&E Network. It will be called, what else, Hammertime and will chronicle his life with his wife and five children.

Honestly, is there a 1970's or 80's celebrity who hasn't been the star of his or her own reality television show? We've had Hulk Hogan, Scott Baio and a myriad of others in various reality shows that contain the word "celebrity" such as Celebrity Boxing and Celebrity Apprentice. Okay, Dancing With The Stars doesn't have the word "celebrity", but it has "star" which is close enough.

I think what gets me the most is that this same concept was used in The Osbournes (depending on the show's use of profanity). I envisage a network exec saying "Think The Osbournes, but it's a rap star with more kids". If it's good enough for Ozzy...
