Sarah Michelle Gellar Doubles Your Pleasure: When Actresses Tackle Dual Roles

by Stephanie Earp, posted Aug 30th 2011 2:00PM
After 8 years away from TV, Sarah Michelle Gellar returns this fall in 'Ringer,' one of the more talked-about pilots of the season. Never one to back away from a challenge, our girl comes back not as one character, but two -- identical twins Bridget and Siobhan. As SMG herself pointed out at Comic-Con, she's doing this for the love of the game, not the paycheck (only soap stars get paid extra when they take on an evil twin/clone/long lost cousin side project). In honor of her noble dedication to her craft, here's a few other actresses who've gotten multiple listings in a TV credit.

'Haven' Launching Twitter Storyline

by Chris Harnick, posted Aug 10th 2011 6:00PM
HavenSyfy's 'Haven' is going to where they claim no show has gone before: Twitter. According to Syfy, the series will launch a seven-episode storyline that will flow between the show and Twitter.

"The 'Haven' writers and producers have done an amazing job of crafting a story line that seamlessly moves between the TV show and Twitter," Craig Engler, general manager and senior vice president of Syfy Digital, said in a statement. "Although there have been simple integrations before, no one has fully and organically integrated Twitter into the fabric of the show in the way 'Haven' is doing. If you watch 'Haven' and use Twitter, you're in for a real treat."

What to Watch: TV Picks for July 18 - 24

by Stephanie Earp, posted Jul 18th 2011 11:00AM
Murdoch Mysteries - Wednesday July 20, 10 PM ET, Citytv

While Obama wrestles with a potential financial Armageddon south of the border, here in Canada our leader makes a cameo appearance on a homegrown cult show.

Substantially more ink has been devoted to writing about Prime Minister Stephen Harper's primetime debut than was used to write his few lines, but I guess that's the point of hiring a man renowned for being stiff and unemotional for an acting gig. Harper plays a desk sergeant in this episode that tracks sunken treasure through a letter written by Sir John A. MacDonald, while a fictionalized Sir Wilfrid Laurier plays Watson to Murdoch's Sherlock. If this thing was any more Canadian it would be a giant red and white maple leaf that said nothing but 'eh' and 'sorry' while it drank beer and played hockey.

'Haven' Hunk Eric Balfour on Season 2: There's Weird Stuff Happening in Maine

by Annette Bourdeau, posted Jul 15th 2011 9:45AM
Just when you thought things couldn't get any stranger in Haven, the police chief crumbles to pieces (quite literally) and a mystery woman shows up claiming to be the 'real' Audrey Parker (Emily Rose). So, yeah. Season 1 of the popular sci-fi show ended on a rather mysterious note.

Season 2 of 'Haven' premieres this week, and the first episode raises more questions than it answers. The 'other' Audrey is still around, Nathan (Lucas Bryant) is grieving for his dead father, and Duke (Eric Balfour) has to deal with a mystery woman from his past who blows into town out of nowhere.

Intrigued? AOL TV caught up with Balfour to get more details about what we can expect from Season 2. We also got the scoop on some of his other highly anticipated projects, including the film adaptation of 'Jesus Hates Zombies' that he's directing, and his role as Bobby Beausoleil in the upcoming 'Manson Girls' movie.

HavenWhat's going on in the sleepy Maine town of Haven? Quite a lot of nutty stuff, judging by this exclusive peek the second season of Syfy's 'Haven,' which returns July 15.

Later today, I'll post a long list of summer premiere dates you should know about, so consider this an appetizer of sorts. Syfy, AMC, USA, TNT, FX and other networks have a lot of scripted fare coming at us, and though I haven't seen new episodes of 'Haven,' I'll be sure to check it out when Syfy sends advance DVDs.

Come on, I have to -- Jason Priestley will guest star (and even direct) in the second season of the spooky drama.

'Haven' - 'Ball and Chain' Recap

by Mike Moody, posted Aug 8th 2010 2:30PM
eric balfour haven syfy(S01E05) Score one for 'Haven.'

This episode managed to keep me pretty engaged and entertained despite the usual drowsy pacing and clichéd procedural plotting.

Yep, it was a "rapid aging" episode -- an old sci-fi staple that woulda seemed stale even if 'Warehouse 13' didn't do one a few weeks ago – but I still enjoyed this ep. It gave me hope that 'Haven' will become a better show in the weeks to come.

I enjoyed the chemistry between Emily Rose and Eric Balfour, and this week's mystery actually revolved around one of the show's central characters instead of a no name guest star.

The stakes were higher than usual, and we got some needed character development for Balfour's character, the trashy townie Duke Crocker.

Sci-Fi TV Crossovers We'd Like To See

by Mike Moody, posted Aug 3rd 2010 3:45PM
warehouse 13It's a tech geek team-up as 'Eureka' uber-nerd Fargo (Neil Grayston) visits computer hacker Claudia (Allison Scagloitti) on tonight's episode of 'Warehouse 13.'

The Syfy crossover -- which continues with Friday's episode of 'Eureka' -- was inspired by Grayston and Scagliotti's real-life friendship, the pair told reporters recently.

"Our chemistry plays so well in life that I think our respective show runners and the good people over at Syfy realized what a commodity it could be to blend these shows," Scagliotti said during a conference call on Monday.

'Haven' - 'Harmony' Recap

by Mike Moody, posted Jul 24th 2010 4:00PM
haven syfy(S01E03) The "troubles" are back. Maybe they'll leave if Syfy does everyone a favor and cancels 'Haven.'

Emily Rose and crew sleepwalked through another dull mystery plot in the third episode of Syfy's new supernatural series, which attempts to blend the small town strangeness of 'Twin Peaks' with the paranormal procedural plotting of 'Fringe' and the sleep-inducing effects of Lunesta.

Let's recap ... Audrey and Wournos were called to Haven's mental hospital where the crazy people were acting extra crazy. The hospital's chief doctor apparently lost his marbles too and started tossing orderlies out the window. Turns out that crazy is contagious as a few of the patients escaped and the regular townspeople started acting violent and using each other as dartboards.
