Ed Asner Hawaii Five-0Ed Asner will reprise the 'Hawaii Five-0' role he first played more than 30 years ago.

According to CBS, the 'Mary Tyler Moore Show' veteran will once again play August March in an early 2012 episode. Asner first played the role in the 1975 episode of the original 'Hawaii Five-0' titled 'Wooden Model of a Rat.'

"It is thrilling to, for the first time, merge the original 'Hawaii Five-0' and our new show by having the classic, versatile and award-winning actor Ed Asner reprise his role of August March, a character Mr. Asner first played 36 years ago. There is no better way to form a bridge between our reboot and the original series," Peter Lenkov, 'Hawaii Five-0' executive producer, said in a statement.

For the first time, footage from the original series featuring Asner will be used. The archive footage will show his character in his smuggler days. When Asner's character appears in the new series, he'll be a reformed man after serving 30 years in prison for murder. The Five-0 team approach him for help on a smuggling case.

McGarrett Takes On UFC's 'The Iceman,' Chuck Liddell on 'Hawaii Five-0' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 25th 2011 5:15AM
Chuck Liddell, 'Hawaii Five-0'While there was a very minor cross-over event with 'NCIS: Los Angeles,' the bigger shock to the system on 'Hawaii Five-0' (Mon, 10PM ET on CBS) was the appearance of retired UFC champ Chuck Liddell. Even worse, he was there to lay the beatdown on McGarrett, after McGarrett injured his intended opponent in a charity event.

You have to give McGarrett credit for heart, and he didn't stay down when he could have. He gave it his all, but this is the 'Iceman,' and McGarrett's all doesn't even come close to leaving a lasting impression on the Hall-of-Famer. But at least Alex O'Loughlin can now say that he stepped into the ring with Chuck Liddell and lived to tell the tale.

The 10 Best Classic TV Theme Songs

by Maggie Furlong, posted Oct 19th 2011 2:00PM
The Mary Tyler Moore ShowThe TV theme song is sort of a dying art: Some shows still have them -- and they're making a comeback of late -- but most choose a quick diddy and they're done. Having anything TV-related stuck in your head for days in this line of work is a very good sign of something special, so we prefer the shows that go all out.

Our pals over at AOL Radio are re-launching with a new and improved listening experience today, powered by Slacker, and one of the stations we're most looking forward to is TV Tunes. Obviously. They're playing theme songs from popular shows, past and present, 24 hours a day, now with 50% fewer commercial interruptions ... if only real TV was like that.

It got us thinking about our own favorite TV theme songs (including new ones like 'New Girl' on Fox. "Who's that girl? It's Jess!" ... and we adore her), which got us going a ways back in the old AOL TV archives for these gems: Our reader picks for the Best TV Theme Songs. Ever.
