Heather Graham Hopes Obamas Like Her Movie, Invite Her to White House (VIDEO)
It was pretty adorable how excited Heather Graham was about her new movie being screened at the White House so the Obama girls could see it. On 'The Late Late Show' (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS), Craig Ferguson messed up the name of it and gave us a very different kind of movie. He called it 'Judy Hummer and the Not Bummer Summer,' which is close but just wrong enough that it elicits images of a very different kind of movie. Certainly not the kind of movie the President and First Lady would screen for their daughters.
Graham is hopeful that 'Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer' will be such a hit that "they'll be like, that girl's cool, let's invite her to the White House. So then they'll invite me to the White House." It could happen. We're pretty sure Obama has that kind of pull.
Emily is gone, but Jake will return
ABC put a lot of effort into promoting
Emily's Reasons Why Not, to turn around and cancel it after one airing (yes, it is officially canceled).
Network execs say they pushed the Heather Graham series big time without even seeing a script, and when the final
product did air, it wasn't what they wanted at all.ABC pulled John Stamos' Jake in Progress from its schedule at the same time it pulled Emily, leaving fans to wonder whether that show was over as well. Rest assured, Jake fans, according to the LA Times, it will return to television. The president of ABC prime time entertainment says he really likes Jake in Progress and the show will eventually return.
And, despite poor ratings for Commander in Chief and Invasion, ABC says it still believes in those series.
ABC halts production on "Emily" - UPDATE
As Chris reported yesterday, many of you may have noticed
that at the very last minute, ABC pulled the new episodes of Emily's Reasons Why Not and Jake in
Progress last night. They aired a rerun of The Bachelor: Paris instead. Presumably, this was all done
because of the stiff competition that that was on last night including the Golden Globe awards and part two of 24's season premiere.
However, a lot has changed since last night. ABC has now announced that they are pulling the plug on production of the
Heather Graham comedy only a week after the series premiere. Apparently, the ratings for last week's premiere were
practically non-existent and that certainly should justify at least looking at/re-examining the show to see if it's
worth trying to save. Seems like ABC is doing just that but there's no news on if or when production will start again,
so don't get your hopes up.
ABC pulls tonight's Emily's Reasons
I haven't watched the show so I don't know firsthand how good (or not) it was, but it seems ABC
does not have complete faith in Emily's Reasons Why Not. The network has pulled
tonight's episode and replaced it with a repeat of last week's The Bacholer: Paris premiere. No explanation was
given for the move but the lead-in Jake In Progress was also suddenly disappeared from the schedule. Both
shows are reportedly going to come back next week but it seems curious they would be pulled so suddenly. There's a bit
of speculation in the article that it may be so the shows don't have to go up against The Golden Globes, but I don't
buy that. It's not like the programming of the awards show has been a mystery up until just now so there was plenty of
time to warn viewers it would be two weeks instead of just one between episodes.Emily's Reasons Why Not: Pilot
I like the trend of bigger stars coming to
television and in a regular series, especially someone like Heather Graham. Of course she's pleasant on the eyes, but
she also seems to be one of the most approacable and genuinely "cute" actresses in Hollywood. She has that
air about her, where you can tell that's she probably very similar in real life to the characters she plays on film. I
personally am going to love seeing her week in and week out, because I think this show is going to last for a very long
time. They have an excellent start, and I can't wait to see where it grows from here. On with the show!Everything you need to know about NCIS: TV Guide in 60 seconds
