If Heather Locklear Can't Save 'Melrose Place,' What Can?

by Bryan Enk, posted Nov 19th 2009 1:29PM
The CW was hoping the triumphant return of Heather Locklear, the eternal "special guest star" of the original 'Melrose Place,' would boost the alarmingly low ratings of the CW reboot. But, alas, it seems that not even a scheming vixen like Amanda Woodward can do much to help the struggling series.

The Live Feed
is reporting that Locklear's appearance on the tenth episode of 'Melrose Place,' which aired on Tuesday, had little to no effect on the ratings. In fact, the show was only up 14 percent from last week's ratings, which were at an all-time low for the series.

Heather Locklear was nominated for four-consecutive Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress in a Television Series (Drama) for her performance as Amanda Woodward, the ambitious and manipulative head of D&D Advertising, in the original 'Melrose Place.' The series ran for seven seasons on Fox from 1992-1999.

What to Watch: November 16 - 22

by Stephanie Earp, posted Nov 16th 2009 2:00AM

Melrose Place (Wednesday, November 18, 10 pm, Global/CW)

From the sweeps guest-star pool, the new 'Melrose' has reeled in a mighty big fish. Heather Locklear reprises her role as Amanda Woodward tonight, and she starts things off by walking into her agency and axing half the staff, including Caleb. I want to stand up and cheer just writing about it. Basically, Locklear is gonna come in and run a clinic. Topics include scaring the crap out of employees, how to wear a mini skirt, and how not to get trapped on a sinking ship of a show.

Melrose Place repeats slip into The Beautiful Life's timeslot

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 29th 2009 10:02AM
Melrose PlaceThe CW already gave up on its lowest performing newcomer, cancelling The Beautiful Life: TBL. That left an empty spot on the schedule and an opportunity. Certainly not wanting to have another quick failure on their schedule, the network has decided to shift repeats of Melrose Place to Wednesdays at 9pm.

While it's been doing better than TBL did, Melrose Place isn't healthy. Premiering with 2.3 million viewers, it slipped below 1.5 million this past week. That's terrible by anyone's reckoning. But The CW has hope, for this has happened before. Long ago, when the original Melrose Place hit the airwaves, it too didn't set the ratings world on fire. Not until Heather Locklear swooped in and made it a sexy guilty pleasure.

The CW's hoping she can do it again, so they're doing what they can to keep the show on life support until she arrives. Maybe they'll find Wednesdays friendlier. No more NCIS: LA or DWTS. Instead it's Modern Family, Cougar Town, Glee, SVU and Criminal Minds. Well, that doesn't look good either.

Heather Locklear Returning to 'Melrose Place'

by Andrew Scott, posted Sep 22nd 2009 11:00AM
Heather Locklear Returning to Melrose PlaceShe's baaaack!

The CW has confirmed that Heather Locklear will officially reprise her role as Amanda Woodward on 'Melrose Place,' beginning Nov. 17.

According to E!, Locklear will become the fifth original cast member to appear on the CW remake, joining the previously cast Thomas Calabro, Josie Bissett, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton, whose character, Sydney Andrews, died in the pilot.

Locklear first joined Fox's 'Melrose' during season 1, and remained on the show until the series finale in 1999. The last time we saw Amanda, she had faked her own death, then married Peter (Jack Wagner) on a remote tropical island (check out more 'Melrose Place' episodes on Slash Control).

Melrose PlaceHappy or not that The CW will air a new version of Melrose Place, you must admit that you'll at least watch the premiere out of curiosity, especially if you watched the first show.

Tidbits about the show released these past weeks will have viewers tune in to know how the show will revive Sydney, a very much dead character played by Laura Leighton on the original series.

If that mystery is not enough to get you to tune in on Tuesday, September 8 at 9 p.m., maybe the new spoilers and casting information below will.

Five reasons why Melrose Place may be the best show ever

by Paul Goebel, posted Apr 24th 2007 1:21PM

Heather LocklearWelcome to TV Squad Lists, a feature where each blogger has a chance to list his or her own rundown of things in television that stand out from the rest, both good and bad.

A few summers ago, I discovered reruns of Melrose Place on the Style Channel. The show had always been a sort of kryptonite for me, since I never watched it during its original run. Basically, if anyone wanted to "Stump the King" all they had to do was ask me a Melrose question. Since it was summer and I had little to watch, I decided to give it a look. Well, I fell in love with it. When I told people that I had been watching the show and loving it, they were shocked. I was hard pressed to come up with concrete reasons why I was so taken with the show but here is what I came up with.

1. I'm watching my friends.
Even though the stories are ridiculous (Michael trying to kill Sydney, Kimberly blowing up the building, etc.), I can't wait to see what happens to these characters, because I have so much invested. Andrew Shue can play soccer and pretend he's a philanthropist till he's dead for all I care, but Billy Campbell has became a dear friend and if I go too long without seeing him, I miss him (yes, in a gay way).

Melrose Place coming to DVD in November

by Bob Sassone, posted Jul 25th 2006 9:45AM

Melrose PlaceI never watched Melrose Place. And it wasn't because I was anti-soap opera. I watched every single episode of Knot's Landing, and I've been watching Guiding Light since around 1979 or '80, but Melrose Place never caught my interest. I think I saw just two scenes, both with Marcia Cross. The scene where she took her wig off, revealing a scar, and the scene where the she blew up the complex. Beyond that, even though the show starred Courtney Thorne-Smith (big crush), I didn't see any of the episodes.

But fans can rejoice: the first season of the show will be released on DVD November 7. It will be an 8 DVD set, but no word on what the extras will be.

heather locklear divorceAfter eleven years of marriage to Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, Heather Locklear has filed for divorce. Heather and Richie have a beautiful 8-year-old daughter together, Ava Elizabeth. Heather is asking for joint custody of their daughter and she has requested the judge honor the pre-nuptial agreement the two signed before they got married.

This will be Heather's second divorce from a rock star. She split with Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee in 1993 after seven years of marriage. Which long-haired rock star do you think is on her radar this time?
