by Stephanie Opella, posted Oct 28th 2011 6:30PM
With Kathie Lee in Seattle for her play 'Saving Aimee,' the 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM ET on NBC) brought in Kelly Clarkson to keep her seat warm. Kelly and Hoda clicked like old friends, singing, dancing and laughing throughout the entire 4th hour.

They rolled footage from a 2005 interview for Kelly's 'Addicted' tour and they both made fun of their now antiquated looks. Clarkson, 29, asked Hoda what her 20's were like. "I don't remember my 20s at all," Hoda said. "You were drunk," Kelly joked, and Hoda laughingly agreed.

Kathie Lee and Hoda Get Grossed Out Holding a Geoduck (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 21st 2011 4:30PM
It's a slow Friday, so let's pass some time by watching Kathie Lee and Hoda fight over a phallic-looking clam from the Puget Sound called a Geoduck. Filming live in Seattle, the 'Today' (weekdays, 9AM ET on NBC) hosts split Geoduck-holding duties, as Kathie Lee got a firm grasp on of the clam's tail and Hoda held on to the shell.

As the slimy creature lived up to its name and started dripping on them, Kathie Lee cracked up as Hoda yelled at her to, "Put it down! I'm trying to save you!" Here's to the weekend.

Kathie Lee Tells Deena and Sammi She Can't Tell the 'Jersey Shore' Guys Apart (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 18th 2011 12:50PM
Ahead of the 'Jersey Shore' finale, Sammi and Denna stopped by the fourth hour of 'Today' (weekdays, 9AM ET on NBC) for a chat with Kathie Lee and Hoda. They watched some slow-motion footage of Deena falling on her face, briefly bonded over their shared love of booze, and then Kathie Lee told them she couldn't tell the 'Jersey Shore' guys apart.

About mid-way through the interview, it became entertainingly clear that neither host has been keeping up with the show, as Hoda asked if they were dating anyone, either from 'Jersey Shore' or outside it. When the producers put a graphic of Ronnie up on the screen, Kathie Lee asked, "Are you guys fighting over him? Who is that, Paulie D?"

'Today' Labiaplasty Discussion Gets Awkward For Everyone Involved (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 14th 2011 1:30PM
Before Kathie Lee and Hoda could even get started on their discussion of an apparently increasingly popular surgical procedure called a Labiaplasty, the 'Today' (weekdays, 9AM ET on NBC) camera crew started talking amongst themselves and giggling. Clearly, they could sense the awkwardness that was soon to come, as Hoda was too uncomfortable to talk about it and Kathie Lee outed her mother for having the procedure.

"Hey guys, we don't know what's going on over there, but it must be far more fascinating than what's going on over here," Kathie Lee admonished, before embarking on the awkward talk. "I don't want to talk about this next topic," Hoda said. "If you do, feel free."

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 13th 2011 2:00PM
After years of toiling on 'Today,' (weekdays, 9AM ET on NBC), drinking cocktails and interviewing celebrities, Kathie Lee and Hoda finally won an Emmy. Well, sort of. 'Today' won the Emmy for Outstanding Morning Show Program, and even the fourth hour's hosts themselves weren't quite sure they deserved the statues.

"[It's] kind of embarrassing that we get one too. I mean, the people on the earlier hours actually work hard and deserve them, but because we are technically part of the show, they had to give them to us!" Kathie Lee exclaimed.

"It was definitely by default ... but we'll take it," Hoda replied.

Kris Jenner is making the daytime guest-hosting rounds this week in advance of Kim Kardashian's weekend wedding special. The discussion then veered into uncomfortable territory, as Hoda why Kourtney was bucking the family trend and not yet married to boyfriend and baby-daddy Scott Disick, who was conveniently standing off-camera. Ben Folds joined Hoda Kotb as the guest host on the fourth hour of 'Today' (9AM ET on NBC) where he talked about what sets 'The Sing-Off' apart from other reality music shows and demonstrated his harmonizing skills by singing an improvised jingle made up of the notes on Hoda's cue cards.

"I think this show is socially significant. Music education has been on the down, and filling the space has been kids singing at colleges. There are about 4-8 A capella groups at each university now," he said." As for the show's contestants, he explained, "they're not divas. This show isn't about egos, it's people working together."

Patrick Wilson On 'A Gifted Man' and His Complex Character Michael Holt (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Sep 28th 2011 3:10PM
Patrick Wilson stopped by 'Today' (weekdays, 9AM ET on NBC) to talk about his new CBS series 'A Gifted Man' and his character Michael Holt, a cocky, hot-shot surgeon whose ex-wife appears to him as a ghost, inspiring him to give back.

Wilson said it was Holt's complexity that really appealed to him. "I felt like if I was going to do TV, then at least I wanted it to be a real conflicted guy, something I could really find my way around. This guy, on the outside, he's hard-edged and arrogant but I knew he had this other side going on."

The show was originally going to film in Los Angeles, but Wilson wasn't prepared to leave or relocate his young family. CBS moved the entire production to the East coast to accommodate him. Wilson said he was "humbled" their decision.

Bareilles, who's a sweetheart by nature, talked about the challenge of giving singers negative feedback, sang some a capella of her own and hoola-hooped with Hoda.

Bareilles struggled to figure out how to provide substantive criticism without coming off like a jerk. "It's hard to be critical sometimes. I see that now as I'm watching the show be aired, and I remember feeling self-conscious about wanting to point out places where they need to make improvements," she said.

Seth Rogen, Andy Cohen and Hoda Discuss Kim Delaney's Rambling Speech (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Sep 26th 2011 4:30PM
'Today' (weekdays, 9AM ET on NBC) gathered Seth Rogen, Andy Cohen and Hoda Kotb to discuss the possible causes of 'Army Wives' star Kim Delaney's rambling Liberty Medal Award Ceremony speech. The actress was supposed to be introducing former Defense Secretary Robert Gates, but got yanked off the stage after slurring her words and appearing to be drunk.

The group kicked around a few different theories about her discombobulation. The first was a teleprompter malfunction, something that could disrupt even the most seasoned public speakers. The most likely cause, clearly, is booze, as Delaney has struggled with drug and alcohol abuse in the past. A third possibility was that she may have had some kind of stroke, like CBS reporter Serene Branson suffered on-air in February, but we don't think that's too likely.

Rogen combined two schools of thought to put a nice bow on the segment. "Every time I can't read a teleprompter I get really drunk," he joked.

Faced with that kind of pressure, Cummings responded in a way that fit the setting: by chugging her drink. The interview rolled on from there, as Kathie Lee and Hoda cracked up while Cummings shook her "water bra" for an onlooker and asked the ladies if they had roofied her cocktail.
