'Tyler Perry's House of Payne'(9PM, TBS)
Calvin and Miranda ('Cosby Show' alum Keshia Knight Pulliam) are headed to the altar tonight, but it's going to take a lot of Payne to get there. Four episodes worth, actually, as the couple's rocky love match is recounted in a two-hour block that concludes with the series' 100th episode (9:30).
The festivities kick off with the fellas planning a wild bachelor soiree for Calvin, despite his promise to Miranda that he'd call the whole thing off. But that's not the end of their pre-wedding woes, as they spend their rehearsal dinner deflecting unsolicited advice on marriage from the other Paynes, right before Miranda passes out.
She makes it to the church on time, but there are a few more getting-hitched hitches before the couple makes the final stroll down the aisle ... and one of them may or may not involve that little fainting spell.
Damon Wayans heading back to TV
by Allison Waldman, posted May 1st 2008 12:03PM
ABC is turning back to an old favorite, hoping to rekindle some comic magic for the network. Funny, irreverent and -- two snaps and a swish -- occasionally brilliant comic Damon Wayans has been tapped by ABC for a new single-camera sitcom pilot called Never Better. Damon starred as a family man in the five-year hit My Wife and Kids, doing a Cosby-esque turn from 2001-2005.The new show, Never Better, is being directed by Marc Buckland (My Name Is Earl, Ed) and centers on another family man, only in this incarnation, Damon is a guy who's struggling to be a good father and spouse despite his flaws and mistakes.
