TV Easter Eggs: Our Favorite Fan Shout-Outs From Shows

by AOL TV Staff, posted Apr 22nd 2011 11:00AM
TV Easter eggs are so much better than real ones -- no mess, no smell, no creepy rabbit delivering them. Which is why we're celebrating this holiday with our favorite hidden gems from TV shows past and present.

(And some Peeps. C'mon, we're only human.)

We each chose a nod to the fans that we loved, from the numbers on 'Lost' and the secret things hidden in the 'Battlestar Galactica' fleet to the end of "555" phone numbers and more.

Did we forget your favorite superfan surprise? Share your own eagle-eyed discoveries in the comments ... and try not to overdose on Cadbury Eggs while doing it.

TV: The Ultimate Holiday Icebreaker

by Stephanie Earp, posted Dec 15th 2009 10:22AM

Ah, the office holiday party - it's a delicate operation. After all, you know these people - in fact you probably spend one-third of your life with them - but do you really know them? Do you want to? If my experience is anything to go by, it's only sheer effort that's kept your opinions of how the boss really ought to run the company quiet. Ditto your feelings on your cube neighbour's BO, ugly baby or sloppy work.

And yet, every December the powers that be decide to round up this unruly group in a hall or hotel conference room, serve them drinks and expect them to get along without embarrassing themselves.

If it wasn't for television, it would be impossible.

'BSG' Alum Michael Trucco Embraces the Law in New USA Pilot 'Facing Kate'

by Michael D. Ayers, posted Nov 9th 2009 2:21PM
Michael Trucco's days of galaxy drifting are definitely over. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 'Battlestar Galactica' alum has signed on for USA's 'Facing Kate,' a pilot that follows a lawyer named Kate (Sarah Shahi) who leaves her job for a new career as a mediator.

Trucco will play Kate's ex-husband, who also happens to be a lawyer. The show's premise stems on the death of Kate's dad, another lawyer, which sends her into a need for a new career of sorts.

Also signed on is Virginia Williams ('How I Met Your Mother') as an obsessive stepmother.

Casting scoop: George Clooney, William Fichtner and more

by Thomas DiChiara, posted Sep 23rd 2008 6:00PM
George ClooneyLet's get the bad/obvious news out of the way first: Despite what ER showrunner David Zabel told TV Guide in a recent interview, George Clooney will not -- repeat NOT -- be returning to the show for it's 15th and final season.

According to Clooney's publicist, "He is on record as saying he is not coming back. It is something he has already done. He is busy making movies." If you're an optimist, though, you can always hope for a surprise Clooney return a la the 2000 ER season finale, in which Georgie showed up at the very end of Julianna Margulies' farewell ep.

On a more positive note, there are plenty of actors who ARE joining popular existing series or are attached to promising upcoming projects. A rundown of these casting coups ensues.

The Nuttiest Fans Award nominees

by Annie Wu, posted May 29th 2008 1:01PM
TV Squad AwardsIf we have learned anything, it's that there's a big difference between being a casual viewer and a truly passionate fan. Whether that means spreading the word, doing charity work in the name of the show or just plain being crazy, fans of TV programs have found various ways to show their love. After some intense responses in the call for considerations post and deep deliberation within the TV Squad team, we have boiled down the list of shows with the most dedicated fanbases. Here, we have five of the finest contenders, each of them deserving recognition for their fans' contributions.

Yes, it's obvious that there will be fans angry at the results, regardless of who wins. American Idol fans, form an orderly queue and meet me in the parking lot. But before we have an epic throwdown, read after the jump and vote for the Readers' Choice.

It's finale time again! No, really.

by Richard Keller, posted May 5th 2008 3:39PM

The end is near for our favoirite showsHoly frik! We've only just started to embrace the return of our shows after a shortened strike season. Now, they are almost over. In the next few weeks all of our network favorites will say good-bye for the summer to be replaced with reality shows, reality game shows, reality soap operas, and Regis on primetime (again).

Needless to say, I'm a bit depressed. As I am sure you are as well. But, we will do our duty and press on. Thusly, we here at the sprawling lakefront offices of TV Squad (you choose the lakefront) have compiled list of when your favorite, and not so favorite, shows will be saying good-bye for their summer vacation. As usual, taking the fickleness of the networks, these times and days can change at a moment's notices. We will try to update you of those changes as quickly as our little fingers can type it out.

So, with a leaden heart, here are your season and series finales.

Best and Worst of 2006: Keith's list

by Keith McDuffee, posted Dec 31st 2006 10:20AM
DexterThe Best:

Dexter -- Hands down the best new show of the year. Hell, this was the best show of the year, standing up against new and old. If you have Showtime, find it on repeats and catch up before the 2nd season comes next year. If you don't have Showtime, grab the DVDs next year. But for God's sake don't miss out on this show.

Battlestar Galactica -- What can I say that I haven't already said? I had this on my list last year, and here it is again. Guilty as charged. This show still keeps things happening and is one of the most talked about shows on the 'net, and for good reason.
