Robin Tells Her Kids How She Met Their Father on 'HIMYM' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 6th 2011 1:15AM
It was a gotcha episode of 'How I Met Your Mother' (Mon., 8PM ET on CBS), picking up on events right where we left them with Robin and Barney in the bathroom of Marshall and Lily's suburban house. And once Barney stopped getting punched in the face for saying the wrong thing, he revealed he was excited to be a father.Robin then borrowed the conceit of the show, by talking to her future children, telling them their story. Only their story turned into little more than a fantasy, as it was slowly revealed throughout the episode that Robin not only was not pregnant right now, but she could never have children. For a girl who never wanted kids, this should have been great news.
'How I Met Your Mother' Closes With Game-Changing Surprise (VIDEO)

It was all about the babies on this week's 'How I Met Your Mother' (Tue., 8PM ET on CBS). While Marshall and Lily were trying to decide where to move to raise theirs, Barney and Ted came up with the ridiculous idea of bro-parenting and adopting a baby of their own.We absolutely loved the redesign of Marshall and Lily's apartment to be so tiny you couldn't even open the front door. It made us want to go back to last year's Thanksgiving episode so we could compare.

Barney and Robin Make a Mistake by Sleeping Together on 'HIMYM,' Or Was It? (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 15th 2011 1:00AM
A sitcom reaches a point in its life cycle where they don't have to strive so hard for the punchline, or even to get the laugh. 'How I Met Your Mother' (Mon., 8PM ET on CBS) proved that this week with Barney and Robin's romantic struggles.None of their moments together were particularly funny, but because we're so invested in these characters and we care about their well-being, we don't care. Luckily, we could laugh at Ted and Marshall for partaking of all that marinated sub sandwich as a balance point.
Barney and Robin Share a Cab and More on 'How I Met Your Mother' (VIDEO)

What a fantastic and significant installment of 'How I Met Your Mother' (Mon., 8PM ET on CBS). Not only did we get some hints of major developments with Barney and his girlfriend Nora, via his sudden need to ditch the ducky tie. He's poised to meet her parents in two days time. But it was the closing moments when he and Robin shared a cab that truly left our jaws on the ground. While telling the story of the gang's ordeal in going through Hurricane Irene this past summer, we learned that Barney and Robin came ever so close to kissing in the rain.
Katie Holmes Is the Mythical Slutty Pumpkin on 'How I Met Your Mother' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 1st 2011 1:30AM
Since virtually the beginning of the series, Ted has been pining for his slutty pumpkin on Halloween. So on the ten year anniversary of their initial -- and only -- meeting, fate and a friendly guy at the costume rental shop intervened and Ted found himself at her door on 'How I Met Your Mother' (Mon., 8PM ET on CBS).Katie Holmes took on the iconic role of the slutty pumpkin, where we quickly learned that she will definitely not be the mother -- never mind that we've already met the mother's ankle in another apartment. The chemistry between the two was just disastrous, but the romance of the story kept Ted hanging on way longer than he otherwise would.

Like it or not, The Slutty Pumpkin has been revealed.First mentioned way back in Season 1, The Slutty Pumpkin has been a 'How I Met Your Mother' legend. Ted (Josh Radnor) met Naomi (Katie Holmes) at a Halloween party in 2001, but lost her number and has spent years waiting for her. Now she's back ... and very affectionate.
Here's how CBS describes the episode: "'The Slutty Pumpkin Returns' (Mon., Oct. 31, 8PM ET) -- Ted finally meets his mystery girl in the Slutty Pumpkin costume. Meanwhile, Barney learns he is part Canadian, and Lily has pregnancy brain."

Weird Al Yankovic Inspired by Ted to Write a Song on 'How I Met Your Mother' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 25th 2011 1:00AM
In an episode filled with guest stars, as everyone started seeing their parents in their respective lovers, they saved the last for an oddball little cameo at the end. Sure, Weird Al Yankovic was superfluous to the actual plot, but he also may just be the catalyst for Ted's next relationship on 'How I Met Your Mother' (Mon., 8PM ET on CBS).We'll have to wait to see that, but we didn't have to wait to get confirmation that at least one part of Ted's story was true. One boast he claims is that he gave Yankovic the kernel of the idea for the song 'Like a Surgeon' when he was eight years old.

Kevin Can't Help Analyzing the Gang on 'How I Met Your Mother' (VIDEO)

There are risks in dating a therapist, as they're going to take reads of you and your friends. As Robin (Kal Penn) learned on 'How I Met Your Mother' (Mon., 8PM ET on CBS), sometimes they can't help sharing what they see. What Kevin saw was the crazy co-dependency this group has toward one another, constantly meddling in each other's lives. And he's absolutely right, but it's that crazy-obsessive inter-connectedness that makes them such close friends to one another, and the audience that's enjoyed watching them all these years.
See Katie Holmes as The Slutty Pumpkin on 'How I Met Your Mother'

The notorious Slutty Pumpkin has been part of 'How I Met Your Mother' lore for years, but now, after hearing about the mysterious stranger who stole Ted's heart back in 2001, we finally get to see her. Here are some photos of guest star Katie Holmes making her debut as the Slutty Pumpkin on this year's Halloween episode. Don't Ted and Slutty Pumpkin look cute together?
Honestly, we don't think she looks that slutty, but the costume is pretty short, and there are some very strategically placed holes in the front, which might just have made for an interesting time with Ted's Hanging Chad (remember them?) outfit.
See another picture of Slutty Pumpkin and a seriously buff-looking NPH after the jump.
Robin Dating Her Therapist Is A Little Creepy on 'How I Met Your Mother' (VIDEO)

'Field Trip' was a solid example of classic 'How I Met Your Mother' (Mon., 8PM ET on CBS) comedy. There were multiple storylines weaving through one another, each revealing bits about our characters and most importantly, progressing things in their lives.Let's face it, we like the idea of change and growth on 'HIMYM.' It is, after all, supposed to be the story of how Ted found the woman he would later marry. Thus, we are inherently watching these people grow up and make big changes in their lives.

Barney's Gay Hairdresser Twin Ploy on 'How I Met Your Mother' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 4th 2011 1:30AM
This week's episode of 'How I Met Your Mother' (Mon., 8PM ET on CBS) wasn't narrated by Ted. Instead, it was narrated by Robin, in a court-mandated therapy session with guest star Kal Penn. She was there for assault, and the assault came because she realized that she wasn't over Barney. In discovering this, she tried to get closer to him by helping him dismantle and shut down all of his evergreen systems put in place to score chicks. In the process, we got some more great flashbacks of Barney Stinson picking up chicks as only he can.
