hugh laurie retiring After eight seasons, the end of 'House' could be looming, and with it, comes the end of Hugh Laurie's decorated TV career.

In an interview with the UK's Daily Record, the British actor revealed that once Fox's medical drama comes to an end, he's done with TV roles.

"I think I have been rather spoiled here [in America]," he said. "I can't imagine there will be another one quite like this. And I think I am extremely lucky to have had the one shot that I have had at it, and I wouldn't go looking for lightning to strike twice."

The Top 10 Highest Paid Actors on TVIt's no secret that being on TV can be a very well-paying gig, but do you know just how much some of your favorite actors are making?

Forbes has released its annual list of the Top 10 highest paid actors on TV and the usual suspects -- Charlie Sheen, Hugh Laurie, Ray Romano -- are still present. However, some of these actors have already left their TV homes, and others might not have shows to pay them after this year.

Sheen's off 'Two and a Half Men' and production on his new sitcom has yet to begin, Romano's 'Men of a Certain Age' was canceled and it's looking like this could possibly be the last seasons for 'Grey's Anatomy' and 'House.'

Hugh Laurie sings on 'Today'When Dr. House picks up a guitar or sits down at a piano on 'House,' there's no stuntman playing. Hugh Laurie is a talented musician, and, as he told Spinner.com, his reverence for music "is bordering on the religious." In fact, he has plans for his music career "once 'House' is finally laid to rest."

He reinforced his love for music Thursday on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC) in an interview with Ann Curry, and also performed a track from the album. "I can't really explain it," he told Curry. "It's been with me all my life. I was about ten years old, I heard a blues song on the radio and it was like a thunderbolt. I had this sort of jolt of electricity and I knew this music would be with me all my life."

I keep expecting this whole 'Eddie Murphy hosts the Oscars' thing to be a faulty meme, but now that the news is confirmed, I guess I'll have to come to grips with it. Okay -- done. After all, Murphy is one of the highest-grossing movie stars of all time, can be very very funny, and has proven he can still be funny without using swears ('Shrek'). He has been nominated for "The Statue." (And who can hold it against him if he left the theater shortly after he lost it to Alan Arkin?)



Truth is, the most shocking thing about this whole whirlwind of a story is that Brett Ratner is co-producing the Oscars. Has the Academy looked at his resume lately? What am I saying? These are the same people who thought James Franco and Anne Hathaway were the answer to their problems.

Hugh Laurie, 'The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson'Hugh Laurie and Craig Ferguson agreed on one thing when Laurie was on 'The Late Late Show' (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS). Neither of them are too keen on the Emmys.

"I don't vote," Ferguson said. "It seem to me a cruel and unusual thing to do."

Laurie also took issue with the idea of comparing actors for completely different roles. "Unless you could get five actors to play the same role," he said. "Then you could have a competition."

So they started speculating who might go up alongside Laurie playing Dr. House. They started off with an obvious win for Laurie by choosing Andrew Dice Clay, But when Ferguson threw out John Goodman, Laurie faltered, thinking it was brilliant.

Ashton KutcherTelevision is attracting more and more big-name stars, but this week's TV Guide Magazine points out that it's probably more of a fiscally sound decision for the actors than we realize.

While the most elite A-Listers make millions in movies, it's much less lucrative for everyone else. TV, on the other hand, offers a steady paycheck. Six-digit paydays add up when you take a 22- or 13-episode season into account.

It probably won't surprise you to know that Ashton Kutcher, who is filling Charlie Sheen's shoes on 'Two and a Half Men,' tops the comedy list with a salary of $700,000 per episode -- half a million dollars less than what Sheen was making. 'House' star Hugh Laurie makes the same $700,000 for every hourlong episode of the Fox medical drama.

Bethenny FrankelForbes has published its annual list of the 100 Most Powerful Celebrities List, and this year it contains a few shockers: Oprah's been knocked off the top spot, there's a teenager in the Top 3, and reality star Bethenny Frankel makes the cut.

Oprah Winfrey's ceded poll position to Lady Gaga, despite earning roughly three times as much.

Gaga's moved up from No. 4 on the list, which measures celebrity power through a combination of entertainment-related earnings, media visibility and social media popularity.

Although 'Forbes' estimated Gaga's earnings in the last year as $90 million -- as opposed to Oprah's mighty $290 million -- it also noted the huge importance of her 32 million Facebook fans and 10 million Twitter followers.

'Forbes' editor Dorothy Pomerantz explained that, "Lady Gaga beat Oprah this year because of her social media power. She can use Twitter and Facebook to work the 'little monsters' into a frenzy that leads to record sales and media attention. She's the best example of how celebrities will need to manage their careers in the coming years."

Last week we got the bombshell that Dr. House has been self-medicating with an experimental drug to try and regrow muscle tissue in his leg. Unfortunately, lab tests revealed that mice treated with the drug had developed tumors. This week, on 'House' (Mon., 8PM ET on FOX), we found out it wasn't just the mice.

An x-ray showed that while muscle had grown, so had three tumors in House's leg. And, being the calm and rational medical professional he is, House did what any sane and normal person would do. He decided to operate on his own leg ... in his bathtub.

It went about as well as expected, which means terribly. Luckily, he was able to get a hold of Cuddy to come in and save the day. So, this wasn't the big drama for the season finale. What do you think that will be?

'House' is celebrating a huge milestone next week: 150 episodes of pill-popping, nickname-giving, extreme diagnosing drama.

The episode, titled 'The Dig' (airs Mon., April 11, 8PM ET on Fox), also has a very special surprise: it marks the return of fan-favorite doc Thirteen, played by Olivia Wilde.

Hugh Laurie Plays Harmonica on 'Late Late'Craig Ferguson is a good harmonica player, so he appreciates the rare guest who shares the same talent.

"If the guest can actually play the mouth organ, we have a very expensive golden mouth organ," he explained to Hugh Laurie on 'The Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS). Hugh Laurie, 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno'This past Friday, Hugh Laurie was on 'The Tonight Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC) in anticipation of the Super Bowl. As FOX was hosting the event, he had tickets to go, but admitted to knowing very little about football.

"I don't even understand the first thing about the game," he said. "This I know will annoy people who desperately want to go to the game, and I'm taking a ticket. Sorry."

Still, the star was excited, and despite not understanding the rules, he said he could recognize the athleticism of the sport.

As for where he was sitting, Laurie had no idea. He theorized, though, that placement could be very revealing. "I suppose we will find out just exactly where we rank in FOX's affections by where we're sitting," he said.

'House' Star Hugh Laurie Discusses the Power of Nudity on 'Ellen'Hugh Laurie has just begn the seventh season of the series 'House.' And although the show revolves around the more curmudgeonly aspects of Dr. House, M.D., all good things must come to an end. So now, House has entered into a relationship with Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein). It remains to be seen if this romantic pairing spells plot-line doom for the show or not. But one thing that has happened as a result -- Hugh Laurie is forced to get naked! With the Emmy awards less than a week away, I'm continuing to pick who I think should and who I think will win the major awards.

Who will win: Wow. You could make a case for everyone in this category, given the strong episodes they each submitted. That being said, Bryan Cranston didn't give the Academy any reason to avoid giving him the award for the third year in a row. 'Breaking Bad' had an exceptionally strong season, and it says a lot that I don't even think Cranston was the best actor on his show this year -- Aaron Paul did that good of a job, but he's nominated in the supporting category -- but I still think he will take the prize.

Hugh Laurie is joining the ranks of William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy as the next TV star to dive into music with an upcoming album, but don't expect to hear the 'House' star covering 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds' or 'Mr. Tambourine Man.'

Laurie has inked a deal with Warner Music Entertainment to record an LP of original Big Easy-inspired blues tracks, reports USA Today.

"I know the history of actors making music is a checkered one, but I promise no one will get hurt," said Laurie, who often plays the guitar and piano on his hit show.

Hugh Laurie as Dr. Gregory House often has a disturbing penchant for almost killing his patients while he attempts to cure them (he clearly needs to brush up on his Hippocratic oath) but will the show itself be the next patient to flatline on one of Princeton Plainsboro's well-used hospital beds?

According to the Ausiello Files, Hugh Laurie's 'House' contract expires at the end of next season, and as of right now, the distinguished British thesp has "no idea" how much longer the show will run.

"I only hope we'll know when the time is right [to finish]," he told Ausiello. "When people blunder on for five years after [they should have called it quits]... it gets taken out of your hands. Someone will say, 'That's it.'"
