Hulk
Casting Marvel and ABC's 'Incredible Hulk'
by Chris Harnick, posted Jan 15th 2011 2:00PM
In order to make the Hulk "SMASH!," ABC is going to need the right leading man.No matter the incarnation, Bruce Banner is a genius. He has trouble relating to others and is emotionally withdrawn, yet pines after and sometimes gets the girl: Betty Ross. Banner designed the gamma bomb that transformed him into the Hulk. His transformations generally come when his emotions get the best of him, you probably wouldn't like him when he's angry.
Whoever plays Betty Ross needs to be able to pull of the a certain sweetness, demonstrate intellect with ease, but not be afraid to get her hands dirty.
Take a look at who we think could fill Bruce Banner's purple pants and do Betty Ross justice.

Some major talent is aligning to get 'Hulk' ready for smashing. Guillermo del Toro, the man behind the 'Hellboy' film franchise and 'Pan's Labyrinth,' and David Eick, executive producer on Syfy's 'Battlestar Galactica,' are in final negotiations to helm the Marvel Comics character's return to the small screen.According to Deadline Hollywood, del Toro and Eick will work together to break down the story specifics and share a created by credit. If all goes according to plan, Eick will write and del Toro will direct if it fits into his schedule.
The TV series plot will include a retelling of the famous origin story, wherein scientist Bruce Banner is exposed to gamma rays that transform him into the Incredible Hulk when angry.
One more Comic Con tidbit ... Planet Hulk trailer
by Brad Trechak, posted Jul 30th 2009 11:03AM
One of Marvel's upcoming projects is a new direct-to-DVD animated movie called Planet Hulk. It's based on the comic story of the same name. It looks to be a pretty faithful adaption. I have read the original story and thought was good. It's a huge story, though, and I doubt they'll fit all the details in a 90-minute movie (or however long it is). If the DVD has big sales, will Marvel release the sequel story in which The Hulk returns to Earth and fights the other Marvel heroes as a DVD as well?
Even though I liked Planet Hulk, there are other, better stories I'd love to see released as a DVD animated movie. Hey, DC, how about putting The Dark Knight Returns on a DVD (a real movie and not the cheap animotion Watchmen DVD)? Marvel, where's my animated movie of Marvel Zombies?
The trailer is after the jump so you can judge for yourself. Which comic storyline would you be interested in seeing animated?

Marvel Comics wants to be on every TV network
by Brad Trechak, posted Feb 17th 2009 11:01AM
It's not enough to have Spider-Man on The CW, Wolverine and the X-Men on Nicktoons and the upcoming Black Panther on BET. Marvel Comics is now creating a new series for Cartoon Network called the Marvel Super Hero Squad.Obviously, the show is marketed towards the very young viewer who is first being introduced to the Marvel super hero characters. That way, the company can indoctrinate new zombies into its empire. The cartoon is based on Hasbro's anime-like action figure series of the same name.
I can't help but wonder if Marvel is spreading itself too thin with so many movies and cartoon series. On the other hand, rival DC Comics is already marketing to the kiddies with their Brave and the Bold series on Cartoon Network and one cannot help but wonder if Marvel simply doesn't want to be outdone in that demographic.
In any case, kids watching the show will buy the toys and vice-versa. Marvel is learning the lesson of Disney.
Grrrr! Brother store steal Lou Ferrigno name! Lou Ferrigno Smash!
by Joel Keller, posted Mar 10th 2006 5:02PM
For a guy
who's been cashing in on the fame of one thirty-year-old television role, Lou Ferrigno is doing pretty well. He has a
recurring role on The King of Queens as "Lou Ferrigno" (must be a stretch, acting-wise), and he's
got a successful fitness business. So you have to wonder why the former Hulk is suing his brother Andrew over trademark
rights to the brother's business, Ferringo Fitness, which is located in northwestern New Jersey. Not that he doesn't have an argument; even though Lou does not participate in the business, his brother, who took the business over from their late father, has been displaying pictures of Lou as the big green guy for a number of years. There are also a lot of design elements in the store that are green. So they're giving customers the impression that Lou is an owner when he really isn't, and profiting off his name and image without his consent.
