And now, the Hulu Awards
by Brad Trechak, posted Feb 27th 2009 10:33AM
In the biggest display of self-aggrandizement since the Oscars, Hulu is launching their own brand of awards for the videos on their website called the Hulu Awards (Well, duh. What else should Hulu call their own awards?). And who are the judges? Why, the users of course. It's the People's Choice Hulu Awards, or some such.I can understand why Hulu would do this. Getting the viewers more involved would only increase traffic to their site. Plus, it allows for certain television shows to say that they won a Hulu Award even when they don't win any other awards anywhere else ever.
The categories are somewhat amusing. I think the mono-word category of "Really?!?" is the best of the bunch. In the end, I suspect some hacker will break into the system and play around with the votes so that According to Jim will win 115 of the 10 Hulu Awards including "Shows we'd bring back".
