Animaniacs Volume 3 and Pinky and the Brain Volume 3 both come out June 19. This is an early review.

It's been my opinion for some time that series like Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain and Freakazoid were entertaining cartoons not because of Steven Spielberg's involvement, but in spite of it. Spielberg --from what I can gather based on what I've read and the special features on both Animaniacs Volume 3 and Pinky and the Brain Volume 3-- always had the final say on character design and such. I'm just not sure what exactly would qualify Spielberg to make such decisions, since I'm fairly certain he's not an animator.

Tex Avery's Droopy: The Complete Theatrical Collection will be released May 15. Here's an early look:

Tex Avery made a name for himself at Warner Bros before moving on to MGM. He helped create such iconic characters as Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck while working for Warner Bros, but what I've always loved about Droopy (whom Avery created at MGM) is that, save for rare moments of abandon, he's the polar opposite of his cartoon contemporaries over at Warner Studios. Sure, Bugs could be unflappable and insouciant, but he still had that "looney" quality. Droopy, however, never seemed to care about annoying his nemesis the way Bugs did, he just lived by a code that the good guy would always win, and his universe always stretched and squashed to make sure that's exactly how things went.

All day today, Boomerang is broadcasting cartoons about love and romance. You didn't forget it was Valentine's Day, did you? This is the day lovers exchange socks, shave their heads and carve a menagerie of mythical creatures out of frozen mayonnaise. Okay, that's not true, I'm just trying to start a new trend beyond all this boring "flowers and chocolate" nonsense.

At any rate, if you love yourself some cartoons, keep checking into Boomerang today for love-laced cartoons featuring the Looney Tunes characters, the Smurfs, Popeye, Top Cat, Speed Buggy, the Flintstones, 2 Stupid Dogs, Droopy, Tom and Jerry, and others. You can see the schedule here.

In2TV recently added a Looney Tunes channel to its ever-growing collection of TV shows. My first thought was, "hey, that's pretty awesome." I mean, it is awesome. There's a whole bunch of great shorts to pick from, including the very first appearances of Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. This is another chance for people to see these cartoons, and that's a good thing.

However, as someone who adores these old classics, I have to say there are better ways to view these cartoons. Refrederator is an excellent video podcast that features a ton of old cartoons from Warner Bros. and other studios that you can download, and it's always worth digging through Archive.org for public domain cartoons that can also be downloaded to your computer.

Eight episodes of ABC's short-lived show, Eyes, are now available online on AOL's In2TV. That's three new episodes for those of you keeping track. I believe ABC only aired five episodes before prematurely yanking it off the air last year due to unimpressive ratings.

If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. Eyes stars Tim Daly (Wings, The Nine) as the owner of a private investigation company that uses barely legal tactics to investigate crimes and individuals. His character, Harlan Judd, was so great. He was sarcastic as hell, witty, and self destructive. The storylines were quick and entertaining and supporting characters were a hoot. I always think of how great Eyes was whenever I watch Tim Daly on the far inferior, The Nine.

Supposedly, 13 episodes of Eyes were in the can when ABC canceled the show. Not sure whether we'll ever get to see the final five, either on DVD or online.

Ready for Christmas? If not, well that's too damn bad, because it's about to get jammed right down your throats! Ahem, sorry about that. However, if you've already decorated the house, baked the first batch of Christmas cookies, and braved the throngs of mall shoppers during the first few hours of Black Friday (which, here in Delaware, began at the ungodly hour of 3 am), then AOL's In2TV will be the next stop on your holiday express.

That's because In2TV has launched its very own Christmas Channel. The free online channel features classic Christmas-themed television cartoons starring Bugs Bunny, the Smurfs, and Fred Flinstone and movies such as A Christmas Without Snow and You're Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley's Christmas Party. Also featured on the site are holiday-themed episodes of classic television series like Alice, Eight is Enough and, well, Joey. Hey, they can't all be classics, can they?

If you're looking for some spooky online viewing, you should check out the recently-launched Halloween Channel from AOL's In2TV. The free online channel features some old school horror films like House of Wax, The Mummy, Horror of Dracula and Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed. There are also some spooky cartoons featuring Bugs Bunny, Batman, The Flintstones and Casper, as well as episodes of Freddy's Nightmares, The Nightmare Room, and Night Visions. Fans should also check out the Heroes and Horror section of the site for more scary stuff, including Godzilla, which I suppose isn't really all that scary, but still, Godzilla will never be not cool.

Here on TV Squad we already covered the launch of In2TV, a new service that lets you indulge your nostalgia for old shows via the magic of streaming video. Last night, I got to indulge in a little nostalgia first hand at the In2TV launch party. I am the worst person to send to events like this; I'm a lurker, too shy to talk to anyone and not the best with a camera, but as the only L.A.-based member of TV Squad, it was my honor to check out the scene.

The  event took place at the Museum of Television and Radio in Beverly Hills. Gabe Kaplan took the stage, made a few jokes about the new Welcome Back, Kotter movie and showed off the In2TV concept. He was a good sport and even brought out a paper airplane to put on his head, joking that it didn't stick as well as it used to (aw, Gabe, you're thin on top but we still love you.)  He introduced George Lopez who gave a heartfelt tribute to Freddie Prinze, showing clips of the comic's career and snippets of episodes from Chico and the Man. Somehow, in George's speech, he managed to reference the fact that he has one kidney and his wife gave it to him (is there anyone who hasn't heard this story yet?) He announced the In2TV Influencer Award and handed the strangely shaped trophy to Freddie Prinze Jr. Freddie made a brief speech, then Jose Feliciano was brought to the stage to play the Chico and the Man theme (with just a bit of "Light My Fire" thrown in). The crowd was full of old favorites from the TV days of long ago. After the jump, a few familiar faces.

Yesterday, Keith McDuffee made a great post about his preview of AOL's new online television goldmine, In2TV. The site has gone live to the public today, with plenty of your old favorites ready for streaming. It's completely free (ad-supported) and these shows aren't going to watch themselves, so what are you waiting for? Now, if you will excuse me, I need to start my Freakazoid marathon.
