'America's Got Talent' Backstage Report: What the Four Finalists Need to Do in Order to Win
by Michael Maloney, posted Sep 8th 2011 7:00AM
The four acts competing for the $1 million prize in next week's 'America's Got Talent' finals are: Singer Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., music band POPLYFE, and dance groups Silhouette and Team iLuminate.A few weeks ago people were betting that singer Anna Graceman and dance team Miami All-Stars would have been shoo-ins for the finals, but poor choices they made on Tuesday's performance show led to either a strike or negative comments from the judges, which likely affected votes.
"The Miami All-Stars were still All-Stars, but they lost the 'Miami,'" offers judge Howie Mandel, referring to the group performing more like they were football cheerleaders in their last routine.
Mandel's fellow judge and nemesis Piers Morgan feels that America got it right in selecting the four finalists that they did. "These are the best four we've had," Morgan says. "I'm really pleased."
What should each act do to win next week? Give more of what they've already shown, or step outside the box and do things that they've never done before?
Streisand concert to premiere on CBS - VIDEO
by Allison Waldman, posted Apr 9th 2009 7:00PM
You know that old commercial, "When E.F. Hutton talks, people listen." Well, when Barbra Streisand sings, people listen. People also spend a lot of money on tickets, but as one of one those people who's charged for a few of those concert experiences, I have to tell you that she's worth it. And what's so great for us now is that her most recent tour, Streisand: Live in Concert, is coming out on DVD and before that, CBS is going to broadcast Streisand as a special on Saturday 25, 8 PM. And on a really, really personal level, I'm very psyched because I was at the Fort Lauderdale concert that they filmed for the special, so look for me in the crowd of 15,000.
Dancing with the Stars: Week 8 results
by Brett Love, posted Nov 2nd 2006 10:20AM
(S03E16) I'm amused by the hoops they have to jump through to stretch the results out to an hour. Seven minutes of rehashing last night to kick off the show. I realize that filling the 58 minutes of the hour that aren't the results is a chore each week. But aren't we pretty safe assuming that the vast majority of the people watching the results show also tuned in for the competition? Monique and Louis were awarded the encore for their cha cha cha. Really, any of the couples could have been given the encore this week. They all danced very well. When they chose Monique and Louis I took that as confirmation that they were leaving and the producers wanted to give her the best possible send off.
