(S07E03) So far this season, Two and a Half Men has been sailing along, continuing to provide plenty of laughs and just enough vulgarity to keep its crown as a raunchy pleasure. Tonight, however, they hit an iceberg. Too bad really, but half the show -- no pun intended -- was spot on. If only the other half had been as good. For some reason, the writers have this idea that Alan as the object of affection to older women is funny. No, not really. It didn't work when Carol Kane guested as the mother of a girl Alan was dating and it didn't work tonight with Annie Potts as Judith's mother, Lenore.
The South Park guys are in trouble again

Trey Parker and Matt Stone can't seem to keep themselves out of trouble. Paramount is now upset over the footage from their season premiere this past week of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas violently raping Indiana Jones.For those who don't keep track, Viacom owns South Park. Viacom also owns Paramount which produces the Indiana Jones movies. See the problem?

Kim Cattrall is hot. Hot as in busy as well as in looking good. She's also smart, funny, observant and remarkably candid. Recently, I spoke with her for TV Squad about the success of the Sex & the City movie, her new HBO project Sensitive Skin, and a whole lot of other things, including Star Trek, aging, Universal TV in the 1970s and more.Allison Waldman: When Sex & the City ended, you didn't want to do the movie. Now it's done and it's a huge success.
Kim Cattrall: It's extraordinary. I look back four years ago when this was a runaway idea, I just did not feel ready to do it. We had reached such a high point, I wasn't sure I had anything else to say. I also had incredible personal challenges. My marriage was coming apart, also, my dad was diagnosed with dementia. I really needed a time out.
AW: How did the movie come back around?
KC: Michael Patrick King called and said, 'I'm writing something and I think you're going to love it. ...I think you were right to say no when you did because of whatever reasons you had.' See, I had never been public about my reasons I felt that it was nobody's business.

More Sex and the City movies? Believe it

Just as the Sex and the City movie is surging to the top of the box office charts -- beating out week two of Indiana Jones -- Michael Patrick King is cashing in on the success. DreamWorks has offered the writer/director/producer of Sex and the City a first-look deal for future film project. And one of those future films could be sequel to the new Sex and the City movie. This may seem unimaginable, but -- come on -- this is Hollywood. If this film does boffo box office, which seems likely based on a $26 million Friday, why wouldn't Warner Bros. and New Line cash in with another episode from the lives of Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte? According to King, he wasn't thinking of launching the ladies into a film series, especially since they had such a good run on HBO and are still doing well on cable. "I wrote that movie with a beginning, middle and end because I didn't want to leave the audience unfulfilled. The actresses are great, and if the gods smile and people are still interested, why not?"

At 7, ABC has two new episodes of Extreme Makeover, followed by the two hour season finale of Desperate Housewives. - CBS has a new 60 Minutes at 7, then The Country Music Awards.
- NBC has a new Dateline at 7, followed by a marathon of The Office.
- At 8, The CW has the season finale of Everybody Hates Chris, then the series finale of Aliens in America and the season finale of The Game.
- FOX has the season finales of The Simpsons and King of the Hill at 8.
- History Channel has the special Indiana Jones and the Ultimate Quest at 8.
- TV Land has the M*A*S*H series finale at 8.
- Also at 8: Food Network has a new Challenge.
- At 8:55: Sci-Fi has the Indiana Jones-related documentary The Mystery of the Crystal Skulls.
- At 9, PBS has a new Masterpiece.
- There's a new episode of The Tudors on Showtime at 9, then a new This American Life.

Nielsen cable ratings for the week ending May 11

OK, I know that everyone is really excited about Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but I'm still surprised that a repeat of an almost 30 year-old movie grabbed the number one slot in the cable ratings this week. Not only that, but the sequel, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, got the number six slot. Hasn't everyone seen these movies a gazillion times already?

Four stars for Barbara Walters Oscar Special

As the Academy Award presentation approaches, that can only mean one thing -- time for a new Barbara Walters special. Yes, yes, what matters most before the big show isn't the red carpet and the fashions, it's who will Barbara be interviewing for her annual Oscar edition? Ms. Walters has four biggies lined up for the Sunday, February 24th (7:00-8:00 p.m. ET) broadcast. Oscar nominee Ellen Page, star of Juno; Indiana Jones, himself, Harrison Ford; Ugly Betty diva, Vanessa Williams; and Hannah Montana/teen queen Miley Cyrus. It's an eclectic group, to say the least, but then, that's Baba Wawa's formula for success, is it not? Another Bruckheimer pilot for CBS

Jerry Bruckheimer may be taking over yet another hour of programming over at CBS. His production company is already responsible for the CSI franchises, Without a Trace, Cold Case, and The Amazing Race. Now the network has ordered a pilot for another Bruckheimer drama about a team of treasure hunters. The series tracks the treasure hunters as they travel all over the world to play Indiana Jones. It kind-of sounds like CSI meets The Amazing Race, doesn't it?The writers said they want to update Indiana Jones and make it exciting and cool. I can already picture the musical montages as the adventurers unearth and restore their treasure.
Family Guy: No Chris Left Behind

(S05E16) After watching this episode the first thing that came to mind was the scene from the season four episode "Jungle Love" where Stewie traveled across the country to slap Will Ferrell. I'm starting to get the feeling that Seth MacFarlane, or someone at Family Guy central, could use some Griffin family negative reinforcement. I'm speaking of the chicken fight scene. Well, scene isn't really appropriate. Segment would be more apt I suppose. I'm generally one that enjoys when shows reference back to things they have done in the past. Things like Chris' roommate at Morningwood being the son of James Bottomtooth from "Brian Goes Back To College" are great. But there are only 22 minutes per episode. Taking a quarter of that for the chicken fight is just ridiculous.

Hey, if Heather Mills can go on Dancing With The Stars with a fake leg, then how about Marlee Matlin or maybe the one-armed drummer from Def Leppard? - Will Brothers & Sisters star Calista Flockhart star in the next Indiana Jones pic with boyfriend Harrison Ford?
- Katie Couric says she doesn't obsess over ratings (though I wonder if her CBS bosses do).
- MTV plans to build thousands of websites around the world, and all of them will feature video of The Real World/Road Rules Challenge playing nonstop.
- A man falls asleep in the Mary Tyler Moore Show house in Minneapolis.

Young Indiana Jones Chronicles coming to DVD

This rumor has been around for months and months, that the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles series would be released on DVD at the same time that the fourth Indiana Jones movie would be in theaters. Now it looks like the show will indeed be released on DVD, and that news comes from George Lucas.
IGN spoke to Lucas at the Museum of Television and Radio, during the Paley Television Festival. Lucas says the episodes will be remastered and re-edited from their videotape versions, and also said that one of the reasons why the DVDs were delayed (besides his legendary obsession with perfection) is the fact that Paramount never really thought the show would be a big seller on DVD. The series starred Sean Patrick Flanery and ran on ABC for 44 episodes in the early 90s.
The new Indiana Jones movie will be released on May 22, 2008, almost 20 years after the last one. Harrison Ford will be 87 years old.
