The 'Psych' Guys Present: 14 Signs You're Living With a Criminal
There's no denying it: The 'Psych' guys give good interview. But heading into their sixth season of fighting crime with their keen powers of observation, we figured they might want to mix things up a bit.In the Season 6 premiere (Wed., Oct. 12, 10PM ET on USA), titled 'Shawn Rescues Darth Vader,' Shawn and Gus are hired to investigate how a body ended up in the home of a British diplomat, played by guest star Malcolm McDowell ('Caprica' alum Polly Walker also guest stars). We also find Shawn under the microscope with the Santa Barbara Police Department -- they're finally starting to suspect that he may not actually be psychic. [Cue the dramatic music here.]
Also this season, a vampire spoof episode guest starring original 'Buffy' Kristy Swanson, and plenty more guest stars to come including Danny Glover, Jason Priestley, Molly Ringwald, William Shatner, New Kids on the Block alum Joey McIntyre and the return of Cary Elwes as art thief Pierre Despereaux.
EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: 'Psych' Pays Homage to 'Twin Peaks' and Star James Roday Talks About the Tribute
'Psych' is all about having goofy good fun, so what's behind the USA show's homage to the twisted classic 'Twin Peaks,' which airs 10PM ET Wednesday? 'Psych' star James Roday said in a recent interview he'd wanted to pay tribute to David Lynch's weird TV classic since the lighthearted detective show first began, but the timing wasn't quite right until now.
"We were certainly not ready in our first two seasons, because we were figuring out our identity, but once we established that we can do these tribute-type episodes and we like paying homage to other stuff we love, it became more real," Roday said of the episode, brings together a host of 'Peak' veterans, including Sheryl Lee, Ray Wise, Dana Ashbrook and Sherilynn Fenn. "Because the show is near and dear to me, I wanted it to be done the right way, and it had to be the right story. I didn't want to rush it."

James Roday Talks 'Psych' Season Five, the Evolution of Gus and the Yin Yang Killer

This is a big week for USA Network. In addition to the premieres of 'White Collar' and 'Covert Affairs' on Tuesday, and new episodes of 'Burn Notice' and 'Royal Pains' on Thursday, the granddaddy of USA's original series, 'Psych,' returns for its fifth season tonight at 10PM ET.
Yes, after living under the shadow of 'Monk' for the last four seasons, 'Psych' is now the big man on campus. And that puts James Roday -- who's a writer and producer on the series in addtion to starring as fake psychic Shawn Spencer -- in an interesting position. It'll be a challenge to make the show even better than it has been.
In an interview with TV Squad, Roday talks about the upcoming season, Gus's continuing evolution and what's going on with the Yin Yang Killer.

Just the FAQs: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About 'Psych'

When 'Psych' kicks off its fifth season on July 14 (10PM ET), the show officially becomes USA Network's longest-running current original series, and to celebrate, the cable network known for its character-driven shows is "super-sizing" the 'Psych' characters into a 66-minute season premiere episode.
And that's certainly OK by show creator Steve Franks, who conceived 'Psych' after penning the script for the second best (after 'The Wedding Singer,' of course) Adam Sandler movie ever, 'Big Daddy.' Franks and the entire 'Psych' crew, from stars James Roday, Dule Hill, Corbin Bernsen, Timothy Omundson and Maggie Lawson to the show's pop culture-obsessed writers and production staff, are immensely proud of the series, which has developed an extremely loyal fanbase that awaits every little movie, TV and junk food reference the show can serve up each week.
Shawn Says Goodbye to Abigail on 'Psych' (VIDEO)
Awww ... Our heart breaks for you, Shawn, but Abigail has a point. She can't make a difference in the world if she's dead. She's just not cut out for the type of life you lead."Call me if you ever decide to stop chasing psychopaths," she told him on 'Psych' (Wed., 10PM ET on USA). We're guessing that won't be anytime soon.

Judd Nelson Plays a Quirky Doc on 'Psych' (VIDEO)
We'll always think of Judd Nelson as the "the criminal" who stole Molly Ringwald's heart (and a few other things) on 'The Breakfast Club.'But now he's all grown up and showing his quirky side as a kooky doctor on 'Psych' (Wed., 10PM ET on USA). We hope his wish to dissect Shawn's temporal lobe doesn't come to pass. We're ok with the DNA part, though.
Now if only he'd show up on 'The Secret Life of the American Teenager' so he can steal Ringwald's heart again.

Dulé Hill Talks Wrestling With John Cena and New 'Psych' Episodes
Dulé Hill is sitting backstage at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio a few hours before he'll host 'WWE Monday Night RAW' in front of thousands of screaming Midwesterners and millions of live TV viewers. New episodes of 'Psych's fourth season resume tonight at 10PM ET on USA. WWE superstar John Cena will guest as Ewan O'Hara, a special ops soldier and brother to Detective Juliet O'Hara (Maggie Lawson). It's a perfect bit of cross-promotion between two USA shows and before Hill got ready to rumble, he spoke to AOL TV about wrestling, romance for his character Gus and improvising with Roday.
USA scores with Monk tribute promo
Sometimes when I'm watching USA Network, I'm as tickled with the promotions for the shows as I am the shows themselves. That's saying a lot, because as a rule, networks are not very clever about commercials hawking their shows. However, USA is the exception to the rule. Just yesterday, Kona wrote about the Psych promo that took a shot at The Mentalist -- completely justified, too -- and here's another that caught my eye. It's a tribute to Monk. This is the last season for Monk, so USA gathered some of the stars -- in character -- from its other programs to give a little tribute to Adrian Monk. What a stroke of genius!
TV Squad Ten: Most outrageous characters on TV

Random House defines outrageous as highly unusual or unconventional; extravagant; remarkable. It's as though they've been watching TV, and wrote their definition to fit some of the crazy characters on television shows today.
Oh, don't get me wrong; I'm not complaining. I love these larger-than-life characters, played to perfection by the talented actors who grace these roles. Some fit in perfectly with their surroundings, others stand out like a sore thumb amongst castmates. One thing they all have in common, though, is that watching them is pure entertainment.
Patrick Jane (played by Simon Baker on The Mentalist)
Jane doesn't quite have the social graces to blend into society, and that's why I love him. The frumpy suits, the obnoxious antics, and the constant pushing of the envelope make for some good TV. From card counting in the casino to reading Lisbon's mind; hypnotizing suspects to making a sandwich in a victim's home, Jane's done it all. Unconventional, to say the least.
Psych: Christmas Joy

(S03E09) In what is becoming an annual tradition for USA Network, Psych has returned for a holiday-themed episode before it goes back into hibernation once again. Last year's episode introduced us to Gus' parents. This time around, his parents are joined by Gus' sister, Joy, who ends up helping the guys on their current investigation while trying to keep a secret from her brother.
Sounds promising. The only downside is the episode was directed by John Landis, whose Psych record is less than stellar. Come join me after the jump to find out if he redeemed himself this time around.
Psych: Daredevils!

(S03E03) "Deboned. Killed and re-killed. How does that work?" -- Gus, while filling out stunt forms.
Hi all. Before I begin I want to give a tip of the hat to Allison who covered last week's review of Psych while I was waiting in line over at Comic-Con. There were some moments, as I was contemplating gnawing on a a $7 hot dog, that I wished I was home watching this show.
I want to start this week's review not at the beginning, but at the reveal. Don't worry, I'm not going to let you know who the culprit was before the jump -- that would be a criminal offense. What I want to talk about was how Shawn went about it this time around. Usually, young Mr. Spencer is quite boastful during the reveals, sometimes to the point that he rubs in the fact that he solved the mystery. This time around there wasn't much boasting. In fact, Shawn took a very dramatic route when he revalued who was trying to kill Dutch the Clutch. Hey, when James Roday said there was going to be 20% more drama on the show he wasn't kidding.
Want to know why he was so dramatic, then read on. If you don't want to know yet, then wait until you watch the show to jump ahead.
James and Dule talk Psych
Psych is coming back! Starting on July 18th, the comedy starring James Roday and Dule Hill will be returning to USA Network with all new episodes. The third season of this series looks to be a very interesting one, as viewers will finally get to meet Shawn Spencer's long-lost mother as well as get to see a more dramatic side of the character ... something we got a taste of during the last few episodes of last season.
The two stars of Psych got together with the press last week to touch on a number of subjects. Topics included a preview of the upcoming season, a discussion about the duo's "Ebony & Ivory" commercial, Roday's appearance on the NBC anthology Fear Itself, and the never-ending 1980s references that the two spout during each episode.
Fear Itself: In Sickness and in Health

(S01E04) When I got the chance to review this week's episode of Fear Itself, I was pretty excited. Firstly because I knew it starred James Roday and Maggie Lawson from Psych, and secondly because it was directed by John Landis.
While I admit that Landis' directorial offerings in the theater have been less than stellar in recent years, he still holds a special place in my heart for being the man who brought us Trading Places, The Blues Brothers and Animal House. I was also excited to see how Landis, Roday and Lawson do with a different type of script than the one they worked together on with Psych.
I was hooked almost from the beginning. I almost fell asleep during the setup about the wedding being "too soon' and all the bridesmaid junk, but once Lawson opened the note and the great theme music kicked in I was ready to go.
