Fat Guys on Sitcoms Are ALWAYS (Pathetically) Trying to Lose Weight
Jason Alexander was just announced as the new Jenny Craig spokesperson, which is a pretty far cry from his old KFC-touting gig. Do we want to see Alexander in a bikini? Hell, naw. But if there's any way his new attitude can help reverse the trend of fat guys starring in sitcoms (often with svelte, gorgeous wives -- seriously, what's up with that?), then we're all for it.
Of course, it's not as though those chubsters never tried to shed the pounds ... some more enthusiastically than others. Because you know what's more hilarious than a funny fat guy? A funny fat guy as he pathetically attempts to lose weight. Here's hoping Alexander has more success than these guys did.
Jason Alexander the latest Jenny Craig pitch man
Nobody can accuse Jason Alexander of not being honest about himself. The actor has not been happy with the way he's been looking of late and he's going to do something about it. Jason Alexander is the new spokesman for Jenny Craig. Not only is it "no soup for you," Jason, it's also no more big salad, too. (Unless the size of Jenny Craig meals have been supersized and nobody told me about it!)Jason is the latest Jenny Craig celebrity pitcher, joining Sara Rue and Valerie Bertinelli. I can't wait to see Jason in a Speedo like Valerie in the bikini! No, seriously, Jason's goal with the diet is clearly all about shrinkage. He wants his old waistline, the one that made George Costanza such a catch.
TV Moment of 2009: 'Seinfeld' Reunion on 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'
It wouldn't be a new season of 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' without Larry David doing something with a self-serving purpose. After running into Cheryl and discovering that she liked things better when Larry had a job, Larry becomes enthusiastic about a 'Seinfeld' reunion, though he has a hard time convincing Jerry of his change of heart.
When the reunion gets picked up, Larry comes up with another one of his wacky schemes -- this time, to cast Cheryl as Amanda, George Costanza's ex-wife. This weaves in the running gag that barely any of that cast, especially Jason, realize: that George is based on Larry. Luckily for Larry, the scheme doesn't blow up in his face like it usually does.
Can you count the Kramers? I couldn't
Someone at Funnyordie.com has compiled all of Cosmo Kramer's entrances from all 174 episodes of Seinfeld into one viral video. I've tried counting them and got three different totals on three different tries. See if you can count the number of entrances. As an added challenge, the only rule I made for myself is that they must include the actual Kramer played by Michael Richards coming through the door, not the guy playing Kramer on Jerry's show-within-a-show, Jerry. I also counted scenes where someone is opening the door for Kramer but not the final scene were Kramer is running out the door.
I gave up during the fourth try since my eyes completely melted out of their sockets, a sign that I should really stop doing something. The same thing happened when I tried to do a review of Michael Strahan's Brothers.

Does anyone in Hollywood not play professional poker?
Jason Alexander recently popped up on my TV, not in a Seinfeld rerun or his recent appearance on Curb Your Enthusiasm but in the most recent World Series of Poker. And it didn't look as though he was there playing with his own money. He appeared to have his own sponsor and everything.
Here is ESPN's coverage of Alexander's elimination from the tournament. Watch for the fan at the end who accidentally calls him George. It's cringe-tastic.
Preview the 'Seinfeld' Reunion on 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'
Jerry, Elaine, George, Kramer ... what are you doing here? 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' returns for its seventh season this Sunday after a long hiatus (the show last aired in November 2007), and the big story will be Larry David putting together a 'Seinfeld' reunion. Yup, the gang -- Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander and Michael Richards -- will be back together again.
When last we saw Larry, he'd hooked up with Loretta (Vivica A. Fox) after taking her Hurricane Katrina-affected family into his home. Now, as selfish as ever, he wants to break up her -- even though she's sick -- and reconcile with ex-wife Cheryl (Cheryl Hines). And to facilitate that, he cooks up a 'Seinfeld' reunion so he can offer her an acting part.
David has said, "The more people I can offend, the better." The show even plans to address Richards' racist tirade scandal from 2006.
The Seinfeld reunion on Curb will be about a Seinfeld reunion - TCA Report
If the meta-ness of my headline confuses you, I apologize. It's the best way I could phrase it, because it's kind of mind-blowing in concept. At today's HBO session at the TCAs, Larry David came on stage to talk about the upcoming season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. In it, as we all know, he'll be reuniting the Seinfeld cast on the show. And what will they be doing? They'll be working on... a Seinfeld reunion episode.
"The context is that for years I've been asked about a Seinfeld reunion," said David, "and i'd say no it's a lame idea. And then i thought it might be very funny to do that on Curb, and I kept thinking about it and different scenarios of how to pull it off."
When he talked to Jerry Seinfeld and the cast about it, they were all game. "So doiung a Seinfeld reunion show on Curb we'll see writing read through rehersals show being filmed. You won't see the entire show, you'll see parts of the show get an idea of what happened eleven years later."
The entire Seinfeld cast will appear on Curb Your Enthusiasm -- including Michael Richards
It's been a good long while since Michael Richards has been on television. If you don't know the reason why, then you either don't watch TV or you've been frozen since 1952 and had your body reanimated to combat the deadly disease for which you've found a secret cure. If it's the second option, then stop being so selfish and share your cure with the world. Stop being so cold, no pun intended.
2009 could mark the beginning of Richards' comeback, as he and the rest of his Seinfeld pals will make an appearance during the new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Step It Up & Dance, says Costanza
You think some of the contestants on Dancing with the Stars are terpsichordian-challenged, that they look like klutzes? Well, some do. And you might think you can guess that a guy like Jason Alexander would be a complete joke on the dance floor. After all, as George on Seinfeld, did he ever seem like he could make it across the dance floor without tripping on his shoelaces?Well, the man can move. On this week's episode of Bravo's Step It Up & Dance, Jason Alexander will present his credentials as a guest judge. He'll challenge the contestants to do what he's done -- very successfully in his career -- learn musical theater choreography.
Is Christine joining Scrubs on ABC?
In a TV Guide exclusive, Michael Ausiello reports that The New Adventures of Old Christine could be moving to ABC if CBS doesn't give it a third season pick up. The way I see it, this is great news for ABC. They seem to do great at one-hour dramedies -- Ugly Betty, Pushing Daisies, Desperate Housewives -- but just swing and miss when developing good sitcoms. Only Samantha Who has been a winner this year; its most recent effort, Miss/Guided, has left me cold.Seinfeld co-stars reunited on Old Christine
Seinfeld's George Costanza and Elaine Benes are reunited after almost a decade apart! Okay, the characters won't be back together on the small screen (although I still dream of some sort of Seinfeld reunion special) but the actors will. CBS announced today that Jason Alexander would be reunited with Julia Louis-Dreyfus in an episode of CBS's The New Adventures of Old Christine. Spoilers after the jump!
A whole bunch of cool retro commercials - VIDEOS
I'm a sucker for commercials. I think they're needed, and when they're done right they can sometimes be better than the shows they're inserted into. I also think they can tell more about a certain time than the shows themselves.
After the jump is a bunch of commercials from the 60s, 70, and 80s. Some you'll remember instantly, and some you'll see for the first time. Another reason to love the internets: commercials you thought you'd never see again can live on forever!
TV's Top 5!: Seinfeld alums need jobs too
This is a public service announcement to Jason Alexander.
Life after Seinfeld has been really tough for you has it? I mean not as tough as Michael Richards who should follow Isaiah Washington into "pottymouth rehab", but you haven't exactly parlayed your existence into other gigs like Julia Louis-Dreyfus in The New Adventures of Old Christine. Our enthusiasm for the dimwitted loveable man has been curbed towards Larry David, who helped you become a star. Even the virtually unknown Seinfeld writer Spike Feresten has been able to translate writing his soup nazi episode into his own talk show.
All you have to work with is your short lived marriage to Britney Spears. Oh wait. That wasn't you either.
Jason Alexander to guest on Everybody Hates Chris
The guest train at Everybody Hates Chris continues to chug along. First it was announced that Whoopi Goldberg would appear in a couple of episodes of the Chris Rock-produced comedy. Now comes word that Jason Alexander will be appearing in two episodes, playing the principal of Corleone Junior High, where the title character goes to school. He will also direct an episode.Hm. I wonder if these high-profile guest spots are happening because stars saw the show last year and liked it, or is this an attempt by the producers to garner a bit of attention for a show that seemed to get lost in the shuffle last year? Not sure. But its Sunday at 7 timeslot isn't exactly going to encourage me to watch.
