'Sexiest Man Alive 2011': Which TV Stars Made the Cut?
Bradley Cooper's been celebrating being named as 'People' magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive 2011.' After saying his first thought on hearing the news was, "My mother is going to be so happy," the buff 'Hangover' star joked "I'm waiting for Dax Shepard to come out, and that it's an episode of 'Punk'd.'"Cooper added: "I think it's really cool that a guy who doesn't look like a model can have this. ... I think I'm a decent-looking guy. Sometimes I can look great, and other times I look horrifying."
So which TV stars have been deemed hot enough to join Cooper on the list? Well, there are some conventional hotties like 'Luther' star Idris Elba, 'Community's Joel McHale and 'Game of Thrones' glowering Horse Lord Jason Momoa, but there are also a few guys who are, well, perhaps less obviously hot in the conventional sense.
Emmys Reveal Lots of New, But Familiar, Faces at 'The Office' (VIDEO)
By now, everyone knows that Steve Carell has left the building, and James Spader has joined the cast of 'The Office,' but as we saw on 'The 2011 Emmy Awards' (Sun., 8PM ET on FOX), Spader isn't the only new person getting face time at Dunder-Mifflin.In a very fun video, we got to see a who's who of television in that familiar office chair where the castmembers from the show do their confessionals.
They were all talking about what they hated about their jobs, like Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) hating rapists, sex trafficking and crimes against children -- this is a much darker take for 'The Office.'
Jason Momoa Says 'Game of Thrones' Helped Land Him 'Conan' Title Role (VIDEO)
Playing a muscle-bound TV warrior gave Jason Momoa the opportunity to play a muscle-bound warrior on the big-screen. The actor told Kit Hoover Tuesday on 'Access Hollywood Live' (weekdays, syndicate on NBC) that his intimidating performance as Khal Drogo on HBO's 'Game of Thrones' landed him the starring role in the movie reboot of 'Conan the Barbarian,' which opens Friday. On 'Thrones,' Drogo is a chieftan who leads his hordes into battle. Momoa said his performance impressed the 'Conan' people. "I did the haka," said Momoa, "which is like this Maori war dance, war chant, and it's very intimidating and scary, and obviously the same casting director was there for Conan.
HBO Ready To Play 'Game of Thrones'
Sick of waiting for Guillermo Del Toro to adapt 'The Hobbit' for the big screen? This news might help tide you over: HBO has officially picked up fantasy series 'Game of Thrones' for a 10-episode season. The show is based on George R. R. Martin's best-selling 'A Song of Ice and Fire' novels, which, admittedly, I have never read. Still, I'm excited about the possibilities for this series. HBO did family drama right ('Six Feet Under'), reinvented the Western ('Deadwood'), gave us a wonderfully quirky vampire show ('True Blood'), and the greatest police drama of all time ('The Wire'). I can't wait to see what an epic HBO fantasy series will look like.
Former Baywatch star is Conan the Barbarian
Yes, I know what you're thinking... David Hasselhoff, right? No, I'm sorry. That is incorrect. The actor playing the title role in the upcoming Conan the Barbarian remake is television actor Jason Momoa, best known for his roles on Baywatch Hawaii and Stargate Atlantis. If Momoa's most visible roles involve a franchise name followed by a location, then perhaps a better title for the flick would be Conan the Barbarian: Middle Earth. Even better, they could have Conan the Barbarian: New Jersey. I'm just saying.
Mind you, there have been rumors for years about a remake or continuation of the Conan movies. If I recall correctly, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was attached to the lead role at one point.
One can only wonder if the recent controversy surrounding another guy named Conan sparked this particular announcement at this time. Or maybe, as Doc Brown says, it could just be an amazing coincidence.
Stargate vet joins HBO fantasy pilot
HBO has added another cast member to its upcoming Game of Thrones pilot, based on George R.R. Martin's fantasy book series A Song of Ice and Fire. Stargate Atlantis alum Jason Momoa has been cast as Drogo, a powerful warlord who has never been defeated in battle. This sounds like the perfect role for the hulking 6' 4" actor, best known as SGA's resident Wraith killin' badass, Ronon Dex. Hopefully, Momoa's potential Game of Thrones schedule won't keep him from appearing in the proposed Stargate Atlantis DVD movie/telefilm.
Stargate Atlantis: The Daedalus Variations

(S05E04) Big things are on the horizon for our friends in Atlantis. Episode five brings with it a big picture episode that will take us back to a host of things that happened in season four. With a slot to fill before that, it was time for another stand alone episode. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Some of my favorite Atlantis episodes have been of the stand alone variety. And luckily for us, this is another of the really good stand alone entries.

Stargate Atlantis: Midway

(S04E17) First, my apologies for this being so late. Rich and I got some wires crossed and we both ended up pointing at each other saying, "Crap, I thought it was your turn!" Better late than never though, right? Anyway... "Midway" has been one of the brighter spots on the upcoming schedule all season simply because Teal'c was returning. I'm sure that for many fans, the return in and of itself was cause to celebrate the episode. I have no special preference for Teal'c myself, so that didn't totally sell me on the episode, but the story he brought along with him did. With a couple of nagging exceptions, it was very good.

Stargate Atlantis: Travelers

(S04E05) The folks over at Stargate HQ are having a good week. First, Atlantis gets picked up for a twenty episode season five, and then they finish it off by heading into their weekend with another very good episode. It was, for the most part, another stand-alone offering, but we did get some hints at a couple things in the future. If that wasn't enough for you, they also had the good sense to hire Jill Wagner for a guest spot. My TV is better with more Jill Wagner on it.
Stargate Atlantis: Lifeline

(S04E02) I've been a fan of Atlantis from the beginning, but then I've been a fan of a boatload of shows that nobody watched. So, with SG-1 ending I was a little concerned over whether or not the little brother was ready to stand on its own. Even as it wound down in the uneven final season, being paired up with SG-1 is still a better match than sharing schedule space with Flash Gordon. Two episodes into Atlantis' big adventure though, I think the show is going to be just fine.
Stargate Atlantis: Vengeance

(S03E19) This is more of what I have been waiting for as the season winds down for the Atlantis team. Here is an arc with a good enemy that builds nicely on the overall Atlantis story. I love the decision to bring back Michael. That's partly just because I like Connor Trinneer (Enterprise), but mostly because the story of Michael, and what the Atlantis team did to him, is very interesting.
Stargate Atlantis: Sunday
(S03E17) OMG! liz <3s mike 4 rel! i no! n did u hear bout teyla n shep!?!
Good grief. I'm just not sure what all of that even was. The one thing that has been nagging at me a little bit regarding Atlantis is that there have been too many unrelated, stand-alone, episodes. It's a problem that big brother SG-1 shares. It's a minor complaint though, because a lot of these episodes have actually been pretty good. "The Tao of Rodney" and "The Game" were both very fun. And "The Ark" had an interesting story behind it. With the season winding down though, it's high time for a multiple episode arc with a little more meat to it.
This wasn't it. A lot of this just left me scratching my head. From Teyla hinting about some mystery guy, to Dr. Weir and her When Harry Met Sally flirtation with Mike, to Rodney's bumbling marriage discussion with Katie. I think that there is room for some kind of a romantic story in Atlantis, but this was too much too fast. Especially when you consider what was the big story of the episode.
