John Corbett Returns to 'Parenthood,' 'Alphas' Books Major Nerd Bait & More Casting News

by Jean Bentley, posted Aug 2nd 2011 7:00PM
John CorbettJohn Corbett is reprising his role as Lauren Graham's ex on 'Parenthood' this season. The former 'Sex and the City' stud will drop into town for several episodes as Seth, the alcoholic father of Sarah's character.

"Just when everything seems to be going well between Sarah and Mark [Jason Ritter], Seth shows up and he's kind of in a darker place than he's been," creator Jason Katims told TVLine. "And so you see Sarah really having to struggle with wanting to help him and be there for him, but also at the same time [be fully present] in this relationship with Mark that's really good and healthy."

Also going on in the Braverman world: Brittany Belt will play Haddie's BFF who disapproves of her relationship with Alex, TVLine reports.

Luke Perry Talks 'Goodnight for Justice,' Jason Priestley and Being a History Buff

by Jean Bentley, posted Jan 28th 2011 4:00PM
Luke Perry, Goodnight for JusticeAs John Goodnight, a stalwart judge in the 19th-century Wyoming Territory, Luke Perry's latest role is quite different from the California surfer we know and love. But it's just as personal to Perry, who worked on developing 'Goodnight for Justice' and even brought in his old 'Beverly Hills, 90210' buddy Jason Priestley to direct.

When TV Squad caught up with Perry a few days ago while he was making the press rounds for the Hallmark Movie Channel film, which premieres tomorrow night, he told us why he was so passionate about the project. (He loves history. And justice.)

Read on for Perry's thoughts on why making a period drama is a nice change of pace, knowing how to handle a gun, and why he watches the Disney Channel so much.

All Star cast for BBC's Day of the Triffids

by Brad Trechak, posted Feb 12th 2009 12:06PM
Eddie IzzardA myriad of celebrities are set to star in the BBC's modern remake of the classic sci-fi novel Day of the Triffids. Names include Jason Priestley, Vanessa Redgrave, Brian Cox and Eddie Izzard.

There seems to be quite a few remakes going on in the world of British television at the moment (Triffids was adapted for BBC television once already in 1981 and had a big-screen version in 1962). We have The Prisoner, Survivors, and now Day of the Triffids. Both Survivors and Triffids deal with the theme of a post-apocalyptic world.

I'm not sure if Triffids was the first story to use the post-apocalyptic genre, but it's certainly one of the most popular. The book itself is a combination of the movies The Happening (where plants attack humanity) and Blindness (where most of humanity is rendered blind).

The anti-Soviet themes of the book won't be applicable in these times, but I'm sure the flesh-eating Triffids will have other, more modern analogies.

Jason Priestly says he "did his time" on 90210

by Kona Gallagher, posted Jul 14th 2008 3:03PM
Jason PriestleyDon't expect to see Brandon Walsh hanging out with the rest of the gang at The Peach Pit when the new 90210 debuts this fall. Jason Priestly, who played Brandon throughout 90210's original incarnation has revealed that he has in fact been approached by CW execs about reprising his role--but that he has turned them down.

Priestley, who is currently promoting a one episode directing stint on The Secret Life of the American Teenager, seems to be more interested in taking a seat behind the camera than donning his acid-washed jeans in front of it. While Walsh appeared in nearly 250 episodes of the teen soap, he also directed 18 of them. Despite turning down the CW's original offer, he seems quite interested in taking a seat on the director's chair.

Is Shannen Doherty really coming to the new 90210?

by Allison Waldman, posted Jul 2nd 2008 10:38AM
Shannen D 90210The new 90210 has yet to air but it's already created a tremendous amount of buzz. The return of actresses Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth from the original series has made news, as well as Luke Perry's words that he won't be coming back and Jason Priestley letting the world know he'd be available to direct.

But what about Brenda?

Well, in his new perch at Entertainment Weekly, Michael Ausiello reports that his sources -- producers Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah -- have confirmed that Miss Shannen Doherty is in formal talks to join 90210 in her original role, Brenda Walsh.

Jason Priestley says no to dancing, maybe to 90210

by Allison Waldman, posted May 5th 2008 1:04PM
Jason PriestleyThe new Beverly Hills 90210 is busy casting and coming together, but it doesn't seem like any of the stars from the original Fox hit will be involved. Don't look for Brandon Walsh among the characters, at least not with the man who created him. Jason Priestley admits that nobody from the new 90210 has even contacted him about an appearance. In a brief interview with momlogic.com, Jason said, "I'm certainly open to it. I loved working on that show. I loved everything I did on that show. I had so many jobs on that show, I loved it so."

On the other hand, Priestley makes it abundantly clear that he has no interest in following in the dancing footsteps of two of his 90210 castmates, Ian Ziering and Jennie Garth, by joining Dancing With the Stars. He just can't dance and he makes no bones about his inability to do a Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly turn. His hobby is on the race track, not the dance floor.

Medium: Everything Comes To A Head (season finale)

by Brett Love, posted May 17th 2007 8:31AM
neve campbell, patricia arquette - medium(S03E22) This has been something of a roller coaster week for Medium fans. There was the high of finding out that the show will be coming back for a fourth season. Unfortunately, that was followed by news that NBC is going to move the show to Sundays, waiting until the end of football to bring it back. That makes for an 8 month wait between now and our next visit with Allison.

The big finale followed a similar path. We got all those answers we were looking for in the Recapitator case. The fates of Debra/PD and Walter Paxton were cleared up. The fallout from Allison being exposed started, and took a couple surprising turns. Unfortunately, the episode suffered from some iffy story telling and an abrupt ending.

Medium: Head Games

by Brett Love, posted May 3rd 2007 11:00AM
Jason Priestley(S03E20) "Head Games" marks the beginning of the star studded, three part, season three finale. It was a good way to kick things off. There is a murder case for Devalos to prosecute, a new friend(?) for Allison, a new head doctor for Joe, visions that may or may not be correct, a new baby... just a lot going on. It's a good thing there are three parts to this.

Seeing as how the episode opened with Walter Paxton (Jason Priestley), let's start there. The dream within a dream open was very good. The head in the pantry came as quite a surprise, and led to a great Joe moment. He was so calm and forgiving when he woke up in the dream, but so frustrated and fed up when he woke up for real.

by Richard Keller, posted Apr 19th 2006 11:03AM

The cast of 90210Maybe no one realized this yet. Or, maybe no one really cared. During the 2005-06 television season, seven alumni of FOX's Beverly Hills, 90210 have appeared or will appear in a regular series.

Do you doubt me? Do you think it isn't true? Do you think I have way too much time on my hands? Well, the last may be true, but that's not the point.
