Snooki Explains 'DTF' to Jeff Bridges on 'The Tonight Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 31st 2011 4:41AM
Jeff Bridges & Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi, 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno'When she tried to make her scent smell like pickles, Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi said that it wound up smelling awful on 'The Tonight Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC). So she went with a more unique smell that would instead capture the essence of who she says she is.

"I wanted it flirty and bubbly like my personality, and obviously something DTF," she said. That should be an easy scent to pinpoint.

Now her statement makes perfect sense to fans of Polizzi and 'Jersey Shore,' but Jeff Bridges had no idea what she was talking about. After getting assurances from Jay Leno that she could say it on the air, Polizzi explained it means "down to f***."

Jeff Bridges Talks About His Music Career and Performs on 'Today' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 16th 2011 2:05PM
Jeff Bridges performs 'What A Little Bit Of Love Can Do' on 'Today'Jeff Bridges released his self-titled major-label debut Tuesday, following the success of his performance on the 'Crazy Heart' soundtrack. He'd released an album before, but with 'Crazy Heart,' he found a successful partnership with producer T Bone Burnett and a groove that took the best advantage of his talents. Speaking with Matt Lauer Tuesday on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC), Bridges sounded like someone starting a second career.

Lauer asked if Bridges was going to tour to support the album, and he mentioned a recent show at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and taping for 'Austin City Limits,' among some other upcoming dates. Bridges doesn't dream about Grammys on his shelf, but he's serious about the music nonetheless. "No, I don't do that," he said. "But, you know, there's going to be some more music. You know, this is, as far as I'm concerned, this is kind of the tip of the iceberg."

Kathie Lee and Frank Gifford Celebrate Their Birthdays on 'Today' (VIDEO)

Kathie Lee Gifford and her birthday cake on 'Today'For Hoda Kotb's birthday last week on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC), she got a visit from her boyfriend and a bottle of tequila. Kotb will have to do a little more lobbying for a bigger birthday celebration next year.

Bridges, who had performed earlier on the show, sang a celebratory song in a wandering falsetto about Gifford's revolutions around the sun. Frank Gifford, who was also celebrating his birthday Tuesday, surprised his wife, and Matt Lauer stopped by to give them both a peck on the cheek.

Oscar Winners Christoph Waltz, Jeff Bridges, Mo'Nique, Sandra Bullock on 'Oprah' (VIDEO)

by Harley W. Lond, posted Mar 8th 2010 7:04PM
Academy Award actor and actress winners chatted about their Oscar ceremony experiences with Oprah Winfrey on Monday's 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' (weekdays, syndicated).

Best Supporting Actor Christoph Waltz admitted to Winfrey that he was "more nervous than ever before. Because it is the Academy Awards. I blanked out completely. I hardly recognized my name." The he told Winfrey that his 5-year-old daughter has been dressing his awards, making little installations with them. "She's really gonna enjoy dressing this guy," Winfrey said.

Winfrey asked Best Actor Jeff Bridges what the past 12 hours was like. "Like a kid's magic slate," he said. "Whoosh." Then he went to on to talk about his parents presence, which he has alluded to at several awards shows. "I felt my folks," he said. "They were all over the place."

Best Supporting Actress Mo'Nique's homage to the great actress Hattie McDaniel (the first black woman to get a Best Supporting Actress nod, for 'Gone With the Wind' in 1939) went a little beyond the ordinary. "Last night was really special cause I could hear her whispering in my ear," Mo'Nique said. And on Sunday, while she was going through hair and makeup, there was a knock at her door, and someone delivered a flower and a letter from someone who was a friend with McDaniel's family. Coincidence?

And, finally, Winfrey brought up the by-now-famous Sandra Bullock-Meryl Streep buss that Best Actress winner Bullock mentioned on stage Sunday night. "We have a thing," Bullock quipped. Actually, Bullock said, "you just feel in this business that they pit women against each other ... and I'm so tired of it ... and i said, 'how do we defuse this?' I'm gonna kiss her."

Changes Coming For Oscar's Best Song Nominees

by Allison Waldman, posted Feb 16th 2010 10:40PM
crazy_heart_jeff_bridges_guitarIn recent years, the songs nominated at the Oscars have not been particularly memorable or worth the time during the broadcast to waste on music that nobody remembers after walking out of the multiplex. This year, ironically, there is at least one very good song that was going to be an Oscar highlight, assuming the producers convinced Jeff Bridges to sing 'The Weary Kind' from 'Crazy Heart' during the March 7th broadcast. That's not going to happen now.

New Oscar producers Adam Shankman and Bill Mechanic have decided to drop the Best Song performances, according Entertainment Weekly. Instead of singers -- either from the movie or good enough to sing the songs from the movies -- we're going to see a montage of images from the picture with the soundtrack recording.
